Use methylated spirit and don't use paper please if you've not done that only the spirit... It might affevt your ip68 but it yield better result... open and close after the spirit is dropped on the hinge it will open up 180° I actually change my hinge in my latest video and the new hinge can as well go bad like this so I used spirit on that I didn't use paper at all... I'm enjoying my fold now...

2nd time mine has broken from a single grain of sand going inside the hinge, both times I have been overseas and so unable to get replaced by samsung on warranty, since they make that virtually impossible. I'll give this a go since for some reason this time the whole phone has shut down as well as the hinge being jammed. You have a great accent, it is very calming to hear. I will point out, The plastic Australian Bank Notes work really well for this.

I'm using two fold 4 devices simultaneously. I am NOT a techy guy but they are great devices for business. I both a head pad on Amazon for $15. I removed both screens, cleaned out the hinges, and reinstalled the screens by myself. One hour of work. That's all.

Absolutely ridiculous , we spend 2600.00 dollars on a phone that is faulty , they should recall them all and replace them with new ones, the fact that there are numerous video's showing how to fix it , shows what a major design fault they have

Don't use paper, it will get worse even if the paper doesn't get stuck inside.

I just cleaned my fold 4 on the hinge part with water and a small paper it's complete flat again ! And no damage.. it works complete like new again.

Thats just a temporary fix that will worsen the problem over time. Thx to the oil dust and dirt particles will accumulate within the inner hinge parts. The issues is the hinge design itself. It wears out over time because instead of gears the new hinge is only guided by metal stripes. Once the factory applied oil(its enclosured within the hinge) drys up there is a lot of friction to overcome during folding procedure. Hence it will get stuck over time. Pretty sure Samsung will return to a geared hinge design for the Fold 5/Flip 5, as there are lots RMAs. Also a drop on the hinge is deadly now, as those metal bands bend very easily.(unlike gears that don't bend)

Hi Mate and thanks for the video. I have the same problem with galaxy fold 4. It stopped fully unfolding after 1 month and evil giffgaff nor samsung don't want to fix it although it was on 12 month warranty from giffgaff (bought referbished from them). I would like to know if using spirit may damage the screen or any inward parts and if there is anyone who apart from you did it with a positive results?

Take it for repairs... moreover, if you want to use spirit, use it when the phone is off and let it fully dry b4 you switch back on

Dude that "plastic" is not just "plastic"! That's one of the gaskets that allow the phone to be water resistant. It's absolutely supposed to be there and when you removed that gasket, it may have gotten better but only because you opened up a little extra space when you removed the gasket so whatever debris was in there (or if the hinge was damaged internally) was allowed to float more freely in the hinge without affecting its function. Ultimately what I am trying to say is you damaged the phone further to temporarily resolve a minor issue. Sadly this will void your warranty if you insert anything in the hinge or remove anything from inside the phone, so I highly wouldn't recommend doing this. This could actually make the issue far far worse. usually opening and closing the phone over and over will work the debris out with the internal brushes inside the hinge pushing any debris out.

If you're here, your phone is faulty. Is the phone not over a year ago??? The warranty should be out by now, and lastly, samsung has fixed mine twice, and it still went bad, so fingers crossed the same thing is likely to happen after fixing and what next? Buy s24 ultra?

@@SRKHD I used insurance in my situation, not the warranty. When I bought the phone I knew I would be paying on a 2000 dollar phone and I really didn't want to get stuck paying for a phone that didn't work for some reason. I went into it reading about the other potential issues that people had with the older models and although the fold 4 was an upgraded design it's still fairly new tech. I came across this video because it showed up in my recommended. Either way I sympathize with anyone going through this issue that may not have gotten insurance or couldn't afford the insurance or whatever the case may be. regardless of the warranty concerns though I would highly recommend not inserting anything into the hinge because its much more likely it will become worse than better. My phone now is the s24 ultra but I still am considering getting another fold in the future when the hinge becomes a bit better.

Thank you but I heard about the paper trick from another video and it completely made things worse for me. I did not try to get oil and I'm afraid to, just be aware that sticking a paper there can get the paper stuck and break into smaller pieces that are impossible to get out and therefore making the problem much worse. That's what happened to me

It's true but, if the paper you used is thin it goes in and out easily and if it's thick, you'll get them into your hinge and you wouldn't like the outcome

@@SRKHD but the problem with the thin paper is that it's easy to tear inside the hinge, which causes more problems. For mine it went through the top part easily but got stuck on the bottom part

Ironically I just used my fingernail and managed to get a few degrees more. Based on what I've read most people get the paper stuck in there, so maybe there's a better material to be used? I'm too afraid to use oil.

Use Isopropyl alcohol...switch off your fold pour the methylated spirit into the hinge and flex it open and close till its fully open. Let it dry out and enjoy your device

I did this trick wish never use plastic not paper, oiled cleaned went worse then screen started flickering, sent it to Samsung after cleaned with soap and water they replaced free of charge 1.4 years old.

Use methylated spirit instead but mind you it will eliminate your ip68 cause it will bring out a lot of dirts and some glues... it will help your phone better than the oil but I used oil then cause I do not want to lose my Ip68 and after I repaired my fold with samsung the new hinge had the same issue again so I went with methylated spirit and I didn't put stuffs into my phone only spirit cause it dries quickly and I got 100% result...
