I know that people like to say that these tests "mean nothing" but, they actually do. These tests are a testament to how optimized a device is & how quickly it'll show its age after a few years. Whether they're future-proof or not. For $1800, that is embarrassing for the Pixel Fold.

Not running Android 14 beta no overheating never running faster and up 2 days battery life. 8 to 10 on screen time the newest software has big difference I've been running the beta 2 months.

I felt this performance difference in day to day tasks. I had a Pixel 7 for awhile (using that same Tensor G2 Chip), and it always felt slow, got hot, and battery life sucked. I got a Fold 5 and it is able to handle ANYTHING I throw at it, including HEAVY multitasking (playing a game, watching KZbin, scrolling X, all at the same time), doesn't get too hot, and still has enough battery life to get me through the day. If anyone is trying to decide between the two, go with the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The Pixel won't keep up.

There is no merit to Samsung here, but the opposite. SD 8 gen 2 is soo good in part thanks to being manufactured by TSMC instead of Samsung. SD were made by TSMC until about SD 865 or 875, next ones made by Samsung are way worse than those made by TSMC. SD returning to TSMC for SD 8 gen 1+ and 8 gen 2 really shows this.

I agree I went from the fold 4 to the pixel 7 cuz I heard how good pure Android is.. but I had the same issues, slow, gets hot and battery was terrible. I'm back with the new fold 5 and I wouldn't get the pixel fold cuz of my pixel 7 experience. I do like the form factor.. but that's about it

Same here except it was 7 pro which isn't that much different from normal 7 I loved the photos and videos from that it still is better but man the performance difference is so much even the apps on the background actually still stays open unlike google

Updated from a pixel 7 pro to a s23 ultra and yes there is a noticeable improvement in day to day use, battery life, charging speed, customization, video from the main camera, quality of the screen, celullar reception. Google phones need proper hardware improvements in their next line of new phones and should also be priced more competitively.

Well googles 5nm tesor chip is one generation behind Snapdragons 4nm, I finaly got the SD version of Samsungs Ultra series in sweden and its by far the best phone I ever had. So much better than the Exynos.

Nice test but Pixel Fold running faster and cooler on Andriod 14 beta. The phone is way more optimized it's just software the Pixel Fold now getting up 10 hours on screen time also.

It's possible that the phones would have better heat dissipation when unfolded. However, given that we give the phones time to cool down (if needed) between trials, I doubt it would have a significant effect on the results.

I always feel vindicated in being a Pixel skeptic every time some video like this comes out. I've never understood why the Pixel phones (aside from the Pixel a series, which are actually great for the price) have gotten the reputation they have. The whole concept of an Android equivalent to an iPhone seems silly, when the main benefit of Android that I see is that it's distinctly NOT an iPhone.
