Wow, I just learned (shamefully only now!) of Galicia and the Galician language while studying the Latin languages and the Romance branch in general, and I have just fallen in love with this culture. How absolutely gorgeous, of a language and music and dance... An incredibly beautiful culture, just remarkable.

Galicia is so culturally rich, it's unbelievable! It really has to be a special place with even more special people. Spain and Spanish never meant anything to me, but I always had an attraction to Galician culture for some reason. I found out that my Great Grandfather was Galician from a small village called Baltar near Pontevedra. Now I feel an even deeper connection.

Cant be that old because the men are wearing an outfit from the 19th or 20th century. I like seeing traditional folk costumins that are old with old traditional dances and traditional instruments . This is a fabrication for tourists nothing traditional about it
@zaixega4 жыл бұрын
I can tell you for sure it's a genuine dance because this ensemble is very good and it does its own researches about folklore. It isn't invented for tourist (and I am pretty sure that the few tourists we have are not interested in). The ensembles here usually perform the traditional dances with the typical XVIII-XIX century costumes, but this ensemble chose this early XX century costumes for doing something "different" in this performance. Galician people still danced these traditional dances during the first decades in XX century, so there isn't any anachronism.
@saltator18023 жыл бұрын
Your comment is astoundingly ignorant, Powder! The 19th and early 20th centuries were an extremely rich time for traditional dance and music. Many older dances took their ultimate form in those years, and Spanish folklore groups did important work even later. Valencian men also sometimes perform in costumes from before WWI. It's the local people who appreciate this cultural richness, not tourists.
