I love that Dan Hurd is one of the few KZbinrs who is humble enough to ask, "I hope I earned your subscription" as opposed to 99% of all other channels who don't engage in any foreplay and just demand your like and sub. I hate that.

Immense respect to Dan for acknowledging the legacy and significant contributions of the early Chinese miners. 🙏🏾 Dan's awareness of our mining history, particularly in British Columbia, highlights the pivotal role Chinese miners played. Renowned mining historian and TV personality Bill Barlee also echoed this sentiment, recognizing their instrumental involvement

That has got to be one of the thickest quartz veins I have seen. Also try out a light with a warmer tint, I like to use 3000k when underground exploring, I find it shows detail a lot more and shows the more true colors, whereas 5000k and upwards bleaches out a lot of detail.

Absolutely loved this video! You should see your face, Dan! Two words describe it: utter amazement. I think that Jason's mine brought back memories of seeing gold to such a great extent. As I've been following along, I still can't believe how rich it is... On camera and at his shop. I also want to say that I appreciate you helping him out and bringing us along for this incredible adventure! Although I think you need to lose about three feet in height (hahahaha), I agree that underground mining would make me too cautious and would lessen the amount of gold I mined out if I was in your shoes. I guess it's just the nurse in me.. Before I go, I hope you and your family are doing well. It was great to see your dad helping out at your dream claim, too! I can't wait for your next video 🧐Howdy to all of my fellow Hurd Herders as well! May you all find a ton of gold! Blessings from Alabama ❤️

I love watching your mining videos. I wish I could do it myself. I'm almost 60 now, when I was much younger I went to Crystal Cave in PA with the family. It was very cool but my mom could tell I was disappointed because it was lit up and we weren't wearing hard hats and head lites. Dan Hurd and MBMM are my favorite channels.💯

Chinese hand-stacking! Yes I've heard the same thing, spent some time placer mining and literally currently am documenting a historical placer mine in Siskiyou County, California. Lots of hand-stacked rock tailings in their wing-dams. I'd always heard that the Chinese miners in particular were doing that.

I'm with you, Dan. I would be very uncomfortable underground like that! I didn't used to be claustrophobic. In fact I did a lot of spelunking when I was younger. Much younger! But somewhere along the line I became nervous about small spaces and would probably panic now, doing things I did in the distant past. Even thinking about some of the tight spaces I crawled through now makes me a bit queasy! 😅

That is an awesome and rich looking mine. Would love to have a go at it in there for a few days. Hell...from the looks of where you were digging, Dan....almost all of the gold I ever found panning on rivers/streams in my life would come out of in a couple of hours! I was wondering, with all of those bags that will have to be dragged out to daylight, wouldn't some sort of motorized haul system be faster (obviously) easier, and more practical? Can't wait to see that more processed and how much gold you got out of your 3 bags. I will be willing to say....hmmm.....a lot!!!!! Thank you for bringing us along, even if only on camera. Would love to be along side you guys, chipping, chiseling and digging away. Stay safe and we shall, see you in the next one.

HAHAHAHAHA! I LOVE that you brought up the coating the chute in sheet metal. I've been saying for at least a few of his mine videos that he could lay aluminum sheet in there to reduce friction and keep the bags together better.. though stopping them seems to be his biggest issue right now. I still think taking them out the end of the raise straight out the mountain sounds the smartest but I have no clue how far away his truck would be, plus it'd take some blasting to be able to make it out that portal with a load... it's kind of rocky. Now if only I could convince him to put a couple sluice boxes in the "piss trenches" to catch all that fine gold that's being washed out.

Love watching the progress, and the collaboration between both of you, makes it even better! I've always been interested in revisiting an older mine dump, where the lower grade ore has been dumped! Just think about it! To get to the high grade, the old-timers went through tons, and less than 3/4 ounces per assay value, was dumped! Have y'all ever thought of clearing some old dump sites, and letting some viewers have a chance to learn the ins and outs? Just a thought, but I do think a lottery of sorts, would be a road to even more views!

I'm a prospector, and to keep from catching the gold fever, I've always "claimed" that it's just a hobby. Not an addictive, greedy feeling you get inside that makes you wanna dig, claw, shovel, hammer, push, pull, drag, spend most of your time cold and wet, or hot, dry and sweating... and bent over all the time smashing your fingers or bumping your head... to get a few specks of shiney yellow stuff that turns you into a miner! I'd rather be a hobbyist doing what I love doing... kinda like a hog. Rootin around in the ground. I love learning about geology, especially gold, and precious mineral geology. Love your videos too. Keep em coming guys. Thanks for sharing. Good stuff... sure hope I don't get too addicted. Got anymore???
