Just a note -- This canned paydirt cannot be from the 1950s because the address includes a ZIP code. Zip codes were introduced in 1963. At that time gold was $35.00 an oz.

Exactly right. Most places did not adopt routinely using zip codes till mid-late 1960s.

So I'm beginning to understand the process. Customer buys paydirt buckets, bags, etc., which contains scooped up dirt that is pre-panned, with the really good stuff kept by company who lets the dirt re-dry, then adds back in some tiny stuff for the customer to jump for joy with. Correct?
@ShitStainedBallSackАй бұрын
Correct
@TheTemplarnight28 күн бұрын
Almost all the paydirt stuff is a "Scam" but unless someone is truly unaware of every aspect your buying for the experience of it rather than payout and you just hope to recoup a decent enough amount to make it not super expensive, there are some more legit companies that to some degree give you actual paydirt type stuff, closest one i've personally seen is the 10k bucket video he did, the company behind that seems a lot more genuine than 99% of the other ones. Also just to clarify absolutely 0 justifying here, i think it's silly but as a 1 time thing for $20-30 i can understand why someone would try it.

a ZIP code on the can would place it after 1963, since that's when ZIP codes were introduced. Durkee is one of the tiny towns you pass by on I-84 in Eastern Oregon a few miles past Baker City (itself a pretty small town), little more than a post office, a few houses and a large cement plant a few miles east of town. It's on the former Oregon Trail though, so that likely influenced its earlier history significantly.

KLESH this was a great video. IMO the BEST part you glossed over pretty quickly. The chart with the gold prices over the last 100 years. I found the 1970's price increase very facsinating, something to do with a deal/agreement ending something else to do with the oil shortage..... I know its a bit different to your normal content, but a little dive into what happened to gold and its prices in the 1973-4 era would be amazingly intresting. Love from the UK

Great video! You should do more fishing videos. I would suggest some Largemouth, Crappie, Bluegill(not all that exciting, though), catfish, pike, Muskie, and Walleye. Too bad there's no Chinook salmon in the rivers, or I would say them, too. I used to fish for Chinook and pinks in Washington State where I grew up. They are one of the hardest fighting fish in my opinion. They are just a blast to catch! Keep it up! Hope to see more fishing videos!

I have always been amazed by the thought of finding gold,I have an old gold pan I use every once in awhile. The problem is I live in a state with only a couple of counties where gold can be found. That hasn't stopped me from looking and as soon as I moved to where I live now I went to the woods to a creek near my home that is popular for hunters and did some panning. Now everyone in my area thinks I'm an idiot or something 😂😂 I didn't find nor have I ever found anything but some copper, native American artifacts .When I'm able to purchase some pay dirt (things have been really tight lately) I'm going to use that gold to make them get a pan and go looking just so they'll stop thinking I'm some idiot.

It wont be 1950s as it has a 5 digit zip (implemented in 1962), and at 3:35, they cannot spell vial (vile). Also... I don't think hobbyists used eyedroppers until much later on (?). This is a 2000s replica.

Can is at least post 1963 when we started using zip code. I would say this is probably 65 or 65 if I had to guess. I would also say the started in 63 but were not mandatory until 1970. So can is from 63-70. Probably from the Durkee gold mine located in Lime, Or

It's probably old lime mine tailings from the old Portland cement factory that was located in old Lime Oregon a few miles west up in the canyon from where the modern cement factory, new town and mine were built in the 1960's. There is actually gold there along the Burnt river just not enough to justify a mining operation.

5 digit zip codes started in 1963, so it's probably from somewhere in the '60s. They must have made a lot of excess salmon cans considering how many different things they were used for.
