Hi Dan, As a total newbie there are huge amounts that I don't know about mining/prospecting (as well as many others I suspect) but I was wondering how much it costs to register a claim? *Dan Hurd* Fantastic video! Love the highbanker and all the tips and tricks, highly educational. An idea popped into my head while watching: I wonder if you could bring along a shop vac and clean out your highbanker mid run, it would be a good way to clear the riffles perhaps. They make lithium battery powered versions, 12 volt plug in versions, or even a standard one ran off an inverter. Just thinking it might be a useful tool for storing some unpanned concentrates.

Mr. Hurd, I always enjoy and learn when I watch your channel! I have a question for you. I’m about to build my first small wash plant. I’m going to make it out of PVC and a few other materials, to keep cost and weight down. I’m going with a high banker/trommel combo. The main reason I’m doin this is that after some research and watching others I should b able to run more material faster. I’m going with a 6” PVC trommel with 1/4” hole after a high banker with 1 1/2” grizzlies. Where I’ll be running there won’t be any nuggets just flower gold and maybe a few flakes. I’m also going to make a sluice out of 1/8” steel about 4-5 feet long and about 8” wide, with 8” of fluid bed up top. How does this sound to you and what adjustments would you make?
@Danhurd4 жыл бұрын
First - double check the regulations in your area to see if a trommel is allowed (it's not allowed in BC). Everything else sounds great.

Ok so, you proved nothing got down to the GoldHog or miners moss/mesh combo, so my question is: Would you just run the 6 feet with the GoldOwl (or mat of choice) and clean out more often? It was looking pretty packed full when you moved the moss/mesh up top. Just wondering if it will continue to exchange out or if by being full you’d lose effectiveness in the mats? Fantastic video Dan! Can’t wait for part 2!

Dan, What if you were to put a 5 gallon bucket at the end of your machine? Could you potentially retrieve any gold that got post the mats? That way, the 5 gallon bucket would be deep enough the gold would go to the bottom before the bucket ran over with water. If the water was traveling faster than the bucket could accommodate, how about a larger, but more shallow catch all to allow the gold to settle before the water would run over the side(something like a child’s pool)? You are the best🤩🤩🤩❤️❤️

What would happen if you ran a cross-over hose from your pond to your suction hose with a valve to throttle? Would that mix fresh water with your pond water? OR I'll bet your pump is down at the creek not at your truck, isn't it...well that probably be more trouble than its worth.

Are you allowed to hunt minerals like Gold and such in Wyoming or Utah? I was looking at a topographical map, and it’s kind of odd I can draw a triangle between Where you are, And Ashley National Park in Utah and Yellowstone and back to you and it’s 777 miles. Roughly and about 26,891 square miles. At each tip of the triangle is terrain that looks about the same. Have you ever searched Ashley or Yellowstone? Or what about those washes that are centered between them? Like Point of Rock, Table Rock or Rock Springs? Or just a little south of there? Quacking Asp Mountain? Just curious.
