Jason From Mount Baker Mining and Metals ‪@mbmmllc‬ took me for a hike High in the Cascade mountains, looking for a Quartz seam that he guarantees I will find visible gold in when I start breaking open the quartz. The hike is grueling, lets see if I make it!

Mr. Hurd, I must say that I found your videos on a lark one day a few months ago and I haven't been able to stop watching them since! Whenever I'm having a hard day, I put on one of your videos are I'm instantly smiling! I love your intros and how your floppy hat really emphasizes what you're talking about, especially when you say "Iiii hope to earn your subscription today!" Well sir, you have earned mine! Keep up the passion and the enthusiasm, it is absolutely contagious. Being a fellow Canadian from across the country (Ottawa, ON), the way you go about narrating and making your videos makes me feel as if I'm a part of your adventures. I love it. Keep up the great work, Dan!

Is there gold in all Quartz seams? Looks like you had a good day out!
@Michael-rg7mx
@Michael-rg7mx Жыл бұрын
Absolutely not. As the lava cools it cracks. If there is a magma chamber below that is cooling the water comes down those cracks. The water vaporises and picks up silica, gold, silver, lead, mercury, copper and many others. It is temperature dependent of what precipitates out of the magma. Here in Arkansas we had the richest source of mercury. Another big deposit was antimony. There is ongoing mining for molybdenum. Very little gold was ever found and it was on land that was for sale, go figure. But there are huge deposits of quartz, in places it is measured in acres of seams.

I'm new to leaving comments on your channel and I shouldve waited until the end of the video, but I stopped it at the middle, to leave this comment. So back to my comment, Couldn't you run the pieces under a metal detector to see if there's gold inside of the bigger chunks of quartz and then smash and use your grinder (that you showed on another video, of a rock grinder/crusher/smasher, that hooks to your truck/vehicle and can get that done where ever you are at and parked!!) to extract the gold? Idk, just something that I would try, or a handheld pinpointed metal detector (cause it's smaller and easier to pack with you, than a regular sized metal detector!!lol!!)for spots around the pieces you are breaking off!!? awesome that you are here in Washington at Mount Baker, sucks about the smoke though!! You are almost, soo close to me, just out of arms length, you'd be more closer to me headed south. It's just so cool to watch your videos, I'm fanboying out, if I wasn't as handicapped as I am, I would love to go with you on an adventure to find gold, rocks and gems, and maybe get a picture and autograph too!! Bwahahahahahahahahahaha, again fanboying out too much, I'll stop it here. Can't wait to see what your next video entails on your adventures!!! Thanks Dan for sharing your adventures with us, they're very entertaining!!

Citrine is the yellow to brownish-red variety of the mineral Quartz. It is a widely used as a gemstone, and after Amethyst it is the most popular Quartz gem. Most Citrine is formed by heat treating purple Amethyst. Citrine may also be produced by heat-treating Smoky Quartz from certain localities.

It would have to be an extraordinarily rich strike to make running a mine up there pay. The glacier is a clue to the main problem, which is that the Cascades receive a really huge load of snow every winter, and you only have access maybe 5 months a year if you're lucky. Lots of the old-timers found that out the hard way, there are hundreds of old mines in Eastern Whatcom County alone. It makes hiking in that area an adventure.😐
