FYI, My JRA Gallant Galil-parts-kit rebuild rifle has an original Galil stock. You don't have to mess with the stock folding mechanism, at all, on mine. Just bump the rear of the stock with your shoulder and it will pop right over. Just pull it loose from the side to unfold. 😎✌️

I got to handle a Galil at a gun store. I liked it except for mounting optics. I feel you on the ammo crunch. I just test fired my 6.5 Grendel Vepr and can’t find more ammo for it.

I feel for you, I was an idiot and decided it would be a good idea to get into black powder because of the ammo shortages, haven't been able to find percussion caps for 2 years lol.

I like that {at the time} there were 2 principal 5.56 AKs. This and the FNC. If you look at the ACE series you can see that some cross pollination has occurred.

For some reason 2 weeks ago, I said to myself “man I love galils, I wonder if I could build one?” Fast forward to the day after today, my kit will be arriving at my house! Now I just need to get a receiver before it’s banned, I’ll prolly go with an 80% to get it in my hands ASAP

the newer aces and the imported semi autos had the left side safety forward to fire, the original military galils have forward for safe, your rifle was built from demilled machine gun parts...you can modify any galil to use either style...Just need the parts.

Great video. I can't find a barrel anywhere for my kit. GB has old shot out ones but haven't found a source. Any new ideas?? Green Mountain says they no longer make barrels for these.

I got an original IMI barrel that my builder had refinished for me. Rifling is still really good in it. You could go that route, just make sure the rifling is still good before you buy it

It's designed to secure a rifle grenade to the muzzle without it slipping off.

@@theAKGeek No kidding. I watched that promotional video... mind blown. It's super weird how fast the Galili guy slaps around the parts on the rifle. Now I wonder if it's possible to get a dud-grenade for my Galil. I'm having one built right now from a new tortort receiver. Your videos are great.

If you haven't watched it, there's a video called "Former IDF Soldier: Galil ARM Presentation". Pretty fascinating - he points out that the Galil stock is meant to be knocked close with your shoulder. And he points out that they were only allowed to close the stock if they were in a vehicle. New to me ( I've never seen anyone point it out ) like your grenade spring in the muzzle. I keep learning new shit about this gun... seems bottomless.

How hard is this thing to put together? Tips for beginners? Or suggestions?

I didn't build it. I'm part of an AK group on facebook and found a builder. If you are interested in building one yourself you'll need to source a parts kit, barrel, and new receiver (I recommend Tortort). Depending on the builder they may request different things to be 922r compliant. If you want to build it yourself there are a few playlists on youtube that go through the steps (assuming you have the tools and equipment needed)
