Damn, that little guy could really get off the ground and hang a bit on many of these plays...shame Boston didn't hold onto this guy the first time around. Would've been interesting how his game would've progressed playing with what was arguably the best frontcourt in the history of the game in Bird-McHale-Parish. One can still dream, eh? I always said that Galis was the Alejandro Magno of basketball a genius that could created situations with a simple move.. you are right in that point. No body cant compare this to warriors of the court with todays players, Drazen and Galis were class apart but i have to include the leading scorer of all times with more than 48,000 poinys in his career including euroleague, that was Oscar Smith from brazil. Oscar have great battle in the court with Drazen and Galis in the euroleague and international competition, they were killers in the court.

But it's exactly because Dirk became a leader of a top level team (with which he should have won in 2006 hadn't the refs cheated the Mavs... but that's another story), and also NBA MVP and twice 3rd in the voting, that I think he is the best ever. Clearely times changed, but no one has come as far as he has, neither Gasol or Parker, players of his generation. Galis is a freak of nature no doubt, would have loved to see his game vs. Jordan.

I don't want to criticize the other players, they are all great. We would have all loved to see what Petrovic could have become. I cried when I read an article from his mother in 2006, she was saying how glad she was that Dirk was leading a team deep into the playoffs, because it was Drazen's dream for a European to do so. Think that I don't have a good slow motion video program, so the wizardry of this particular move, is not well seen. If you look close, he fakes two times in the air, one against the first opponent, and the second one just before the second guy touches the ball. Then he releases the ball giving a down-spin to the ball, so that it can get into the basket, despite almost touching the top of the board. Pure talent.

I know that point. Petrovic was bigger he have that avantege. But there is something that Galis have that much better than Petrovic besides his spectacular ofense and is his athletic hability Galis was 1.85m but he was very strong and he could leap very high. Do you see how high he jumps to make a jump shot? Galis could go up three feets in the air to make a three point shot.. Petrovic was a great ofensive players but he knew better the fundamentals of the game than Galis. Galis more HEART.

No way ! Perfect scorer for Center but not so good in defence. Galis had a respect only in defence of Stojan Vrancovic and the same asks to bring him to Aris in 1989. Sabonis knows the lord of Galis, 48 points in semi-fianl of 1989 !

Yes he was one of the best ofensive player of all tmie. Do you know what player is the all time leading scorer in europe and all the world with more than 48,000 points in his career? @flight23magic32 remember that Petrovic was in almost a dream team and he could trust more in his teamates. I think Kukoc was more complete player than anybody in Europe, 6'11" with that control of the game, he was like an european Magic Johnson. He wasnt so good in defense maby because he wasnt to much athletic like Galis. But Kukoc could give a lot of problem to any team because he was to versatile, he can shot a three, he could drive to the basket and he could pass.
