I baby the clutch on mine, put in neutral when coming up to lights, keep it out of gear until I need to take off, NEVER EVER LAUNCH it, try to park or put in places were I do not need to use reverse. I find it very odd that the reason Lamborghini came to be was because of bad clutches with Ferrari, now it seems some of the cars Lamborghini made have issues with the clutches and wearing out.

I agree and drive my 2011 560-4 e gear as you have mentioned plus I do the neutral at traffic lights. Hope it helps. My clutch was at 10% wear when I bought it and the original clutch went 50k kms. I have put 5k on it so far. Very very solid cars and so happy. Thx for posting. Love your car and vids. I had wondered where you went.

Thanks - I really appreciate it. My current one has been pretty solid. I keep thinking of ordering a Huracan STO to replace it. But, Australian pricing is likely to be completely insane. I also alternate between corsa and sport. I mainly use auto-mode in areas with near suicidal cyclists where I don't really want to have to loook at rpm. Corsa is pretty ok. Normal mode is so terrible.

How do you know it's like 10% wear? Mine 2013 550-2 is like 25km so far, I think the previous owner is very gentle & soft about it, but I still would like to know how many km i can put on my car. Thanks =)

Thanks for the vid. Why do people pronounce it as "Gayardo"? I've spoken to Italians and they say that's pronounced wrong.

I bought my 2004 with the clutch having been replaced within 1500 miles. Sadly, the trans/engine likely has to come out again after 6 weeks of ownership due to a bad oil pump.

Sad to hear. Some of the pre-LP cars have issues. And, a lot depends on whether / how the prior owner looked after it. If they trashed it, it can be very expensive. I can definitely empathize. I bought my old pre-LP with issues. In hindsight, I should have paid more to get a better condition car.

Wonderful Insight! I might use this video for a reference when purchasing a Gallardo LP 550-2 "when"/"if" I have the money! 😂

My local Lamborghini dealer quoted $20,135 for clutch replacement on a 09 560-4. No thanks.

these super cars are really unreliable. I would much rather own a reliable lexus or toyota that can also go fast, is extremely safe, & practical.

Fair point. They have become more reliable over time, to be fair. The clutch is about a once every five years expense. So amortized over five years, it is not too bad. But, other things can go wrong, depending on use. Their main advantage price wise is that they do not depreciate very much. Mine has increased in value. So, it's a question of whether the cost in repairs are greater than the depreciation savings.
