Some myths in the comments section I see. 5.0 is NOT a Lamborghini engine at all. It was developed, based on the dry sump architecture of the 4.2V8 Audi motor, between VW Audi and Cosworth Technology (this division of Cosworth was owned by VW Audi, which purchased Cosworth from Vickers and then sold the racing division but keep Cosworth Technology). Lambo did have a 5.0 V10 in the 90s but it could not be made to have the power required, hence the development of a new V10. The Sound difference between the 5.0 and 5.2 is nothing to do with parent ownership, but is to do with firing interval (not order - this is the same in both). 5.0 has a firing interval of 72 degree and has split crank pins, whereas the 5.2 has a firing interval of 92 and 58 degrees and common crank pins. In addition the 5.2 was quite heavily re-engineered with a longer crankshaft and wider bore centres. The howl of the 5.0 is defining though and many people prefer the sound it makes over the 5.2. The 5.2 is however a more reliable and better engineered unit, not to mention more powerful, significantly so.

I wouldn't say that was the poor reliability of the pre LP, just an incompetent mechanic. The LP is a much better car, also the pre-LP Gallardo's 5.0 engine was actually developed by Lamborghini themselves. I purchased an 07 G with the E-gear and to be honest, It's been faultless I use it as often as I can, you really have to drive these cars... as you've stated they really aren't bad dailies at all... Aside from the first gear at stop signs or traffic lights in the pre LP, I got my G in 2020 and the clutch was at 92% after 2 years of ownership and 16k miles it read 79% which is great, there are tricks to driving them. The attention they get can be a bit annoying at times but it's what you have to expect by owning an exotic... conversing with people at gas stations, letting them sit in the car, etc can really make someone's day and I see it as a responsibility for us exotic car owners to let others enjoy it as well. I will say when you're driving, everyone wants to race you.. from the guy in the civic to the guy on the superbike.

What is your trick of driving these E gears to have the clutch last longer?
@jeffl14843 ай бұрын
@@Speedster404 Drive it like a manual as you shift up and downshift; rev up the gas as you downshift, and similar when upshifting. Smooth reversing and not pulsing it. Don't drive in "A" (automatic) mode. But most importantly, enjoy the car!
@Speedster4043 ай бұрын
@@jeffl1484 Yeah I'm doing that, also putting it in neutral at red light and neutral when rolling to red. I am getting used to it now, but not sure what the clutch life is after 1100 miles since I purchased
@jeffl14843 ай бұрын
@@Speedster404 you’re doing great. Get a read out on the mm spec not just percentage of the clutch and snap data when going to the shop. It’ll give you a fair idea on where you stand.
@bobjones7776Ай бұрын
@@Speedster404 no offense but if you are that poor (clutch replacement) to drive it like it was never designed to be driven you shouldn't have one to begin with. Don't take your foot off while shifting the whole ECU gets confused and the car is both slower and gets jerked around, don't be shifting into neutral at lights its an automatic for a reason! If it needed that the software would do it with a few lines of code. This whole 'how to drive to save 200 miles on my 10,000 mile clutch life' stuff is absolutely pathetic like a bunch of 18 year olds buying the car with not a dollar left, no wonder we need PPI too many cheap asses driving these cars weird as hell doing more harm than good.

Nice genuine review. Yes LP’s are definitely more reliable, as they should be since it’s the successor to the Pre-LP. I can fully agree with your pulling away comment in 1st gear on Pre-LP’s, embarrassing 😳. But I think I found how to do it smoothly now 😁

Pre LP sounds better because it’s a Lambo engine vs the R8 sounding LP cars. Just got one I’m in Sydney too. Got a 09 Pre LP Spyder.

I have: Immaculate 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder with GATED MANUAL GEARBOX, with 39834 KMs or 24752 miles, big carbon package, leather package, ceramic brakes, lift system, reverse camera, black Callisto wheels and so on. It is from first owner and serviced only at Official Lamborghini services (can send pictures of the service booklet). The car has a brand new software update and brand new official Lamborghini service stamped - no KMs was driven after that (can send pictures of the service booklet). There is also a report by official Lamborghini that the car was never damaged (can send report). The car origin country is Italy and it is currently still there. There are approximately only 200 OEM LP MANUAL Gallardos ever produced. Brakes and tires are in good condition. Asking price is 265 000 EUR or 288 000 USD.

Nice video. Very informative. The granny start is the only way to get away from rest. You can avoid the judder. It’s better when lt warms up later. That’s what I found on an 05 G. I like the rear wheel drive too. But at the same time the AWD is safer

Sounds like you just needed to go to the lamborghini dealer to deal with the issues with your first. And sounds like you purchased wrong. But hey at least you drove them both! But the sound is better in the earlier ones.

Sorry, but nothing beats the sound and feel of an even-firing Pre-LP
@Matrix8677 ай бұрын
I went back to the pre lp for the sound and brutality specifically
@bobjones7776Ай бұрын
You can get an exhaust with one side longer that makes the exhaust sound even-firing on the LP, so it sounds like an F1.

So glad to finally see a comparision. I bought my 2011 LP560-4 because it was always a Canadian car, and impeccable maintence fully documented. Previous owner babied it and has everything from day 1. Plus highly speced. Thanks for doing this compare !! Whew so happy to hear this review !!!!

How was your experience with the Perth dealer doing the PPI for the SL?? I'm hopefully buying a aust delivered SE (1of 6) & will get them to do a check on it. Thanks

Hey, what are you paying, if you don't mind me asking? This covid car tax is dumb. I've been looking for a decent example pre LP Aus wide for 4 months with no luck. About $170k aud budget, in cash, ready. People are wanting $200k+ for a pre LP is a joke. The ones at around $150k are usually high mile and i wouldn't touch. I'll keep looking but might have to put it off until used prices normalize again. Not doing myself any favours by looking at videos of them, however. It was just last year that i saw 20k mile pre lp's and manuals going for sub $140k.....

@@Ndkksooejn I paid$153 for a 2006 SE (2007 jan aussie compliance)with 34,000kms. Yes prices have gone crazy - to be honest I dont thinkthey will be dropping much anytime soon- so much demand very little supply. So many pre LP been sold on carsales in last 2 months, only the 2004 yellow one in melbourne left - and I really wonder why that import hasnt sold.
