Everyone who knows malls knows that Edina, MN is the home to Southdale, the original enclosed regional mall in the United States. Did you know about Southdale's fancy neighbor?
While Southdale is slowly dying, Galleria is already on an upswing after losing its biggest tenant last year. Drop the kids off at the Dave and Buster's. We're going across the street to the grown-up mall.

I cannot wait for you to do southdale! It’s dying, and it’s quite sad because I think, southdale was the first mall.

Just had the odd realization that I've been there a half dozen times to eat at Pittsburgh Blue, but I've never walked around and checked out the mall.

I remember visiting this mall with a date a few years back and visiting Grande Gallery while walking through. They have some really cool original Dr. Seuss works that I hadn't realized were there, but I recall the lady running the place being very off-putting about it, almost as if she was offended we didn't know they had been there. It was super awkward, but the rest of the mall was pretty chill.

I just made it to the Galleria for the first time over the Summer when we were at the Westin for a family wedding and I took Kiddo over there to burn off some energy and get some Starbucks, so imagine a guy and a 4 year old running past names like Tiffany and Louis Vuitton while making the day of the senior mall walkers there that early.

I just returned from shopping in the Galleria. It is upscale and lifestyle oriented but still a fun place!

This is still one of my fav malls. It’s small, good dining and of course a Starbucks as it’s “anchor”

When I went to the Galleria for the first time ever, I used the entrance on the Tiffany's/Louis Vuitton end of the mall. Blew mind...

This is pretty cool! Minnesota has some nice places. Do you think you will film any additional Iowa malls?

Yes, I plan to film a few more this summer in eastern Iowa.

@@YodelingLoonRetail: I can tell you - Eastern Iowa may have interesting content. My hometown has a Kohan mall now. A couple of towns about an hour north have 2 Namdar malls. In the Quad Cities I know there are some good ideas for content too.

Mall of America is not a dead mall
@bradybrapples
@bradybrapples 2 жыл бұрын
it's not a dead mall but it's important to document malls, as they are, right now, because at some point, that mall, and every mall, will either change significantly or be demolished entirely hopefully youtube gets archived somehow so people hundreds of years from now (if there's still people around) who want to study how americans shopped in the 20th century have these sort of videos as a reference (but yeah, would love to see a 4 part MOA video)

That mall does look upscale. Does it have an Apple Store?
@YodelingLoonRetail
@YodelingLoonRetail Жыл бұрын
No, despite it being upscale, the Apple Store is located across the road in the original Southdale Center.
