I had it easy, after work I drove 2km down to the beach where the city aquarium was, pulled into the back service area parking lot where they had taps for marine hobbyist. The taps delivered seawater that was pumped in from way offshore and filtered through their industrial filters and delivered at a higher than normal pressure so you had to be careful with that hose :) Filling up my 6x25litre bottles was a breeze and it was all for free..

I collect in the south of England in Devon, you can collect upto 20,000 gallons at a time might be litres cant find the info at the moment, but been doing it for nearly 3 years now. I do get asked what I'm doing alot or just get weird looks. Just make sure you collect on an incoming high tide, not after heavy rain due to run off into rivers from farmland. Also dont go when its rough, you will get wet!

Hi mate, I usually focus on improving biological filtration. Adding more media to your filter will often help over time, but as a quick fix I often do blackouts, but you need to be careful doing this as it isn’t good for corals. Sometimes the light schedule can be the problem, so if you’re not sure maybe try shortening the photo-period and decreasing the red/white/green out of the spectrum (if you can). Cam
@conrads07
@conrads07 3 жыл бұрын

Also, what Cam meant to say is that he tests the water he has collected with hobby grade test kits, just like yours!😀 ICP testing of the collection site is of little value or reassurance of water quallity, as ocean contaminates are litterally in a fluid environment. Cam is a salesman and running a business, so I understand the motive.
