Thank you so much for posting. I need to try to wire my racecars

Looks a thousand times better than some people’s wiring.

It LOOKS great! Neat, organized, good colors, etc . From the standpoint of cleanliness, termination techniques, materials, etc... I say 9/10. You zip-tie tips are spot-on. I learned this stuff wiring sound equipment for concert-level PA systems and the neatness is much appreciated. Did you follow the dirty bus/clean bus concept, separating high-draw devices like solenoids, pumps, starter, etc from data and control? Spikes from relays/solenoids turning on and shutting off can cause huge voltage spikes, even bigger when shutting off, that can cause problems with data recorders, traction control, shift and boost controllers., etc Bottom line - good looking work.

The wiring looks so good. It looks like Professional wired the dragster. I can’t wait to hear the Big Block rumble!

I’ve now done a couple cars, and basically came up with the same ideas for the most part, I’m in the process of rebuilding my dragster from powdercoat up, so I’ll be wiring on it here soon. Only tip I would give, is things like the electric fuel pump wire should be worked into the harness, at least somewhere near the fuel cell, then covered with some heat shrink, and labeled. And it’s just a suggestion in case you or the next owner decided to use an electric pump. Also, great job on the wiring, you achieved at least your 7/10!

brandon long you’re absolutely right. I wish I would have done that. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ It’s going to be a nightmare if I ever go electric ⚡️

Awesome wiring! I don't think I even have the patience to make it look that good. Great work! Next-level B-roll toward the end 👌

Do you prefer the round wheel over the butterfly wheel and why ? The wiring looks real good and easy to trouble shoot if need be.
@GallStarTV4 жыл бұрын
frank styles great question. I’ve never used a butterfly before, so I couldn’t tell ya!! I do like the round wheel for pushing the car around... but that’s pretty minor

Great work, Tom! That is one of the cleanest and well-laid out wiring jobs I have seen on a race car. BTW Any idea when you will be able to hit the track this year?
@GallStarTV4 жыл бұрын
Vehicle Visionary that is a great question... as I’m sure you’re aware, it seems like things change every day.. I try not to think about it but it’s impossible 😔

Really appreciate your videos here. Great timing for me since I'll be wiring soon. Your wiring looks like a 10. What I was hoping to see more of is information about how you did all the grounding--I do like the junction blocks. Of course, to be complete this must include the battery cables themselves. The chassis I just bought has the positive cable buried in the bottom rail like yours. Did you replace yours? Are you running a negative cable from the motor back to the battery (seems like a good idea and some recommend this). Also, wire routing and anchoring around the chassis is of interest. Thanks!
@GallStarTV4 жыл бұрын
Hey Tim! I'll try to answer a few of your questions. I basically ran one entire side of those junction blocks to a good chassis ground. Every component is either grounded there or to a clean chassis ground by itself. I did NOT replace the large battery cables, re-wiring an older car like mine it's always hard to know where to stop with tearing things out. I didn't replace the big expensive stuff. I do have a ground from my battery back to the engine for sure. My chassis has clean tabs all over for grounding, so it was pretty easy for me 👍

Large bundle of wires serving various systems from the relay board is probably not the best way to avoid voltage drop. Separating these systems out and grouping them inside loom tape would provide better anti-vibration than cable clips alone & provide better maintenance access. When making videos, talk to explain what you're doing & why, rather than just talk.People watching may have a low b.s. threshold Good luck

Ok, I'm just an idiot that takes photos and makes tee shirts, so I will ask the dumb questions... How many feet of wire, and how many zip ties, did you use? Inquiring minds want to know.
@GallStarTV4 жыл бұрын
Tim McVay feet of wire is a HUGE question mark... but zip ties is probably 300+ counting all the ones i cut off to redo 🤣
