Something I want to try is using a Power distribution module or solid state relay and circuit breaker set up. They seem to be quickly replacing fuses and relays because they weigh nothing and take up hardly any space. Some of them are also programmable which helps eliminate extra wires. Motec’s PDM can use a CAN button pad so all of your switches are connected to 2 data wires that run through the firewall to the pdm, saving space and weight.

Just found this place. Good vid. Wiring and transmissions are normally ‘black magic’. The term for seeing if it’s the same wire from end to end is called ‘continuity’ 😁 I found a site ‘how to build a hot rod’ iirc. That site has good info about wiring as well. Basic hot rod diagrams. If you really have to start from scratch, it’ll help. Used that as I’m gathering parts to rewire an old Jeep. You can’t have too much info. Looking forward to seeing what you do. 👍🏻

This was an excellent video on wiring. I love how organized you are and how quickly and concisely you explain complex ideas. Who taught you all this? What do you study in college? Do you think women are better at wiring, I think this is something women would be excellent at? Do you notice more females getting into cars?
@britneyautomotive
@britneyautomotive 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! My dad taught me all of it. I study zoo science. I’d prefer not to split yet another thing into gender. Women can wire just like they can do a motor swap and vice versa. You see more men complain about wiring due to the lack of women in the industry, I know quite a few women who HATE wiring. So no, male or female does not matter. I feel as if there’s more than there were a couple years ago but I’ve also seen many come and go as many don’t want to fight the sexism that comes with it. I also believe there are only about 50% who actually know how to build their own car and that’s just due to a lack of resources In my opinion.

I like to scratch start, and run everything where it needs to go, leave it about 12" long. put a few zip ties on it, to hold it where it needs to be, then lay it out on a piece of plywood, cardboard , and zip tie it to the board shaped like it will be in the car,,then loosely zip tie, and or, wrap, looming or what ever you are going to run the wiring in, shrink tubing is your friend, and label everything that isn't obvious, atleast, label each end, because you will not remember, 6months from now, what everything is. The 3x or 4x shrink tubing is great, and it comes in colors. To color code, the marine grade is great for exterior, it has glue to seal the connection, last thing you need is the wire to get wet inside the insulation, and in the crimp, start corroding, the it's corroded on each strand. So even if you replace the connector, it's still not going to make a good connection, and it can corrode 12" or more into the wire length, so unless you are going to clean each strand then repair the connection, it's not making a good connection, and voltage drop, possibly a lost connection can cause major headaches. Who is going to expect the connector to not be making contact with the wire, ) anyway, after I get it layed out loomed and labeled, put it back in the car, zip tie it to the car, then terminate the connections, shorten the wires that may need it, and always plan for the future, make it easy for the upgrades you may be planning for, Maybe run a extra or a heavier gauge wire for a second or high current fuel pump, run wires for a interior light, a small led light inside or under the hood can be a life saver when looking for something at night, and it weighs nearly nothing! Great video!!
