.
a galvanometer is an electromechanical instrument, used for detecting and indicating an electric current. It is a sensitive electromagnetic device that can measure low currents, even of the order of a few microamperes. galvanometer works as an actuator, by producing a rotary deflection in response to electric current flowing through a coil in a constant magnetic field.

These mechanisms were called D’ Arsanvall, we learned about them more than 50 years ago. I remember some of these that were so delicate that despite being mechanical could trace currents of micro amps, while not in use they had to be shortened to avoid any induced voltage that might harm them. I remember my poor teacher the day the first digital electronic meter was introduced at schools, I’m sure it shortened his life
