There is a lot of racism in Muritania, The first time I met a Mauritanian was in New York City and he was part of the political fighters for freedom for Black people. He mentioned things that was profound to me. He said that there was slaves in present day, modern Mauritania, and these slaves happen to be black Africans I feel that’s a shame. I feel that has to change. I feel that africans have to wake up in general and unite. I just feel like more needs to be done.

Watched this doco 2 times. I clearly see the content difference between the normal and Western point of view about Africa (not first time but at this time I confirm my hypothesis) . I watched a story of the same city, Nouakchott shot in 1 or 2 years apart. The white guy showed a very poor town where people are struggling to survive. Here I see a thriving city with considerable modern experience and charm. Guys, we are not that poor. I will never understand why anything connected to Africa is made to look poor and hopeless. Keep it up Mauritania, you are doing so good.
@truecynic127015 күн бұрын
Yes! Excellent point. A Nigerian pharmacist once told me that Westerners video the poor elements ONLY to continue the notion of Africa being incapable, under educated, backwards always to need help ....................when in actuality the cities and most areas are very modern, well-educated and Prosperous. Of course, every culture has its differences but basically Africa in its entirety is NOT impoverished nor living in the past....................

Maybe because 80% of the population is hungry ... Look at the GDP of these regions of the world before you want to put a positive vision in it. This is not a representation! It is the reality. If the Africans provide you with a clean and rich vision of their countries that’s fine! but what is the reality? the hope is there we all agree, their education and culture are a model... but economically it is not the golden coast ... you must remain lucid and do not put glitter everywhere either

Mauritania is one of the least visited countries in Africa. Why? 1.) Outside of Africa it’s questionable that people know it even exist. 2.) If people do know of it, they know it through media stories of modern day slavery 3.) underdevelopment & poor infrastructure 4.) Many western countries label it as an unsafe destination. 5.) language. Unless you speak one of the national languages, Hassaniya, Soninke, Pulaar, Wolof ect or possible French, it may be quite challenging for you to visit. These are possible reasons for why it’s amongst the least visited countries in Africa.

By tradition they are Normands therefore always in search for a better farming land and trading area which Gambia offers. Many of them originated from Saudi Arabia and Ardu Sham (the vast region of Palestine, Israel, Jordan etc) this is why they speak the Arabic that is almost exactly like the Quranic Arab.
