It's because of history and our grand-parents not our generation !
@pdr-uj4hz6 сағат бұрын
It's not that we don't see ourselves as Africans, but I would say that some of us don't feel African culturally. Maybe it's because some of us are mixed, because of the history of the country, and because we don't have any African religions or tribes here. I would also say that geography plays a part in that. However, we don't feel European or anything like that either. I would say that we feel like a mixture of cultures because that's what we are.
@z3llc4232 сағат бұрын
@@pdr-uj4hz Well said. I am Capeverdean and I feel the same way, not because I am denying Africa, but because the way I was raised and educated meant that I did not have that strong connection. And also the geographical location and miscegenation gave rise to a mystical and unique culture.
@delianatygoodwing2857Сағат бұрын
I am Cape Verdean I see myself as a African and I have strong connections with my continent. Many Cape Verdean don’t feel connected to the African culture. That is all. It is not about skin colour is about the culture. We are black and we know that. We are not blind
@z3llc42311 минут бұрын
@@delianatygoodwing2857 Being African and identifying as African is more than just the color of your skin. You can be black as coal and if you are raised and educated in a culture that is not African and have to live in a genuinely African culture, you will come across a huge culture shock. This is the pure truth and let's stop forcing this genuine Africanness that does not exist in us. Just look at the opinions of non-Capeverdeans to see what they think. Even the KZbinr has talked about this. We’re capeverdeans “tout court”.

That’s Gambian mentality for you anybody light skinned is Tubab
@Why_you_mad_tho3 сағат бұрын
It’s not a black country it’s a biracial country and you have to respect that they’re not European and they’re not fully African. If the Portuguese see them as biracial and many of them are going there to retire and they still intermarry with these people then why are you trying to make it something that they’re not ? Everything about them is literally a blend of Portugal and Africa. You could drop these people off in Brazil and they’ll do just fine. You can’t drop off somebody from Mozambique, which is another Portuguese colony and expect them to thrive in the same way. They have not been acculturated and they don’t carry the DNA.
@EstaJeanette-nk7fj25 минут бұрын
@@Why_you_mad_tho why are you trying to argue the fact that cape Verde is an African country? So just because Europeans go there to retire that means it is no longer African. Former Portuguese colonies like Angola and Mozambique still have linguistic ties to Portugal are Angola and Mozambique no longer African. Plus not all of them are mixed. There are plenty of them who are still full africans. The majority of their ancestry is still African. Their geography is still African. Which means they are africans
