Yes, it is their job. But do you honestly think that doing something for a living automatically means that ethics go out the window? If that were true, TheWarOwl and 3kliksphilip would have already accepted many advertising deals with these gambling sites.

About 20 years ago there wasn't even half this much danger in the life of a 10 yo, and parents cared about their kids more than they do now. Of course im talking in general now.

@tyleramon8371

nem tudom "Danger" as in "things we don't want our kids to know or understand about life" ? Crime in the first world is down in all areas from 20 years ago. Violent Crime is at an all time low in modern society. The biggest danger to our children is not being there to help them understand the hardships and confusing ideals of the world. It's to the point where we can say protecting your children from things you don't want them to know or learn yet is impossible with an internet connection. A solution to this would be a different approach than just trying to control and regulate. IMO, ofc.

Gotta admit, when CSGO first came out with the Skins and crates, Steam market didn't exist and so gambling was never a thing. But after the Steam Market was released and became available to everyone without Valve overseeing them, gambling on CSGO became huge. If Steam Market didn't exist, none of this would have happened. Valve needs to counter this by creating a "Official CSGO Skin Store" like DotA 2 to counter this gambling and the Steam Market prices. A ♥♥♥♥ing Karambit UltraViolet can cost around 500$, if they make an Official store and sell it for like 20$, the Steam Market prices will plummet and the CSGO gambling sites will have no purpose but to shut-down everything. Valve is being sued for this and they know very well that they are actually profiting from the "Gambling" and Steam Market.
@oldbalogna9926

Valve isnt going to lose the case, and they dont profit off of sites, the profit off of skins so its a win for valve and a win for gambling sites and thats all
@RoccoHorvath
@RoccoHorvath 8 жыл бұрын
Valve profits from gambling sites. When people lose skins they either buy more skins from the marketplace or they buy keys to either open more cases or trade them for skins. In the case where they buy keys Valve profits even more than these gambling sites.
@SkritchB
@SkritchB 8 жыл бұрын
Ive been here since the beginning and steam market came the same day cs go cases came just like with tf2... There was never a "hurr durr cs skins wasnt worth anything first but then came steam market" they were always worth something (steam money to buy other games, trading other skins) and Also why would valve put up a shop for skins with set prices? When they already profit legally from knives like crimson webs that is worth 350-1500 in minimal wear condition and factory new 1200-4000 depending if it has "stattrak" so 20$ straight or take 5%-10% from 4000? Which is 200-400$. Valve is a profitabel company which wants to make the most amount of money legally possible and does not care about these "breaking news" and lawsuits do you know why? Because the only connection valve has to gambling sites is that they allow you to login with a steam account and if they simply remove that valve is yet again 100% safe in terms of the law and now websites just needs to make it so that you log in
@SkritchB
@SkritchB 8 жыл бұрын
+zXTheFoxXz with an account you create on their site while using steam accounts to trade the skins with, like a 3rd party website and the gambling continues, valve earning money from it 100% legal again and underaged gambling continues
@oldbalogna9926
@oldbalogna9926 8 жыл бұрын
people buying skins doesnt give valve money because to trade the skins they need to buy it from 1 - a third party website not affiliated with valve 2 - the steam market which people will need to wait a week before trading because of the limitation in steam. Buying from the steam market is what gives steam money, not buying from third party sites or even trading with them, so people saying that valve makes money off of gambling sites are completely wrong

Being a KZbinr is being an entrepreneur, it takes a massive amount of time, dedicated, hard work, and perseverance to 'make it'. It's also a true free competitive market, with a very small cost to entry. If you're listening to a professional KZbinr, you're listening to someone who has struggled working 80hr weeks for little pay for years trying to build something. I think that's why.

But aren't their sponsorships that make you a little bit more money, i don't know how hard it is to be a youtuber... I don't know how it is to put all that time and effort in something that "might work out" Allot of people put hard work into youtube , and have a little over 100 or 1000 subs. Thats why i don't believe the line "if you put work in it, you get it". Thanks for the response btw

Those people who have 100 or 1000 subs are simply not good enough a.k.a they don't produce enough quality content to continuously appeal to viewers. Which is the most difficult thing to do. Which involves putting a lot of work in.

I worked out that I've spent about £80 overall on cases and skins. It does rack up pretty quickly - I didn't feel awful about it because I didn't go into it expecting to win every time. Gambling's fine, as long as you are going into it for the fun of the gamble, and not for the prayer of the win.

That's how gambling works. There are 90% of people who play for the fun of it and can quit any time. But 10% of people have a tendency to have a gambling problems and so they play and play and play until they are in debt. Go to Las Vegas, you will always see some lonely old people sitting at slot machines wasting their money little by little.

Csgo has also influenced a lot games to add these in game skins and crates, for example. Call Of Duty, League Of Legends, Smite. Its ridiculous how we now have to pay for a game and then spend even more money to get some fucking pixels. Paying £30-£60 and then having to pay for some visual effects that dont change the game what so ever and let me add, that theyre a fucking rip off too. Not worth it, games really do disappoint me these days EDIT: people raised some good points about overwatch not being a real big problem, and i agree. (so i have taken that one out) My point was that CSGO has influenced a lot of other games to add skins and who knows, that could be a problem for those games in the future

Its crazy to see this video today. I am now 18 years old and started csgo gambling when I was about 12-13. And when you look back at it now how many sites where exposed of being rigged and having some advantages for youtubers in place so they always win and all that stuff. I can definetly say from the bottom of my heart and with all my hate towards such sites that I have now: If I knew that stuff back in the day I wouldve run my own site and scamming people ngl. Im one of the most honest people I know but I know for sure if the oppertunity wouldve came back then for me to start my own site and scam 1000s of dollars every day in an unregulated market without paying taxes and shit that I wouldve too done that. Though I dont know If I would do that If I wasnt being scammed for 5+ years and every cent I put in to csgo wouldve still been in my pocket. cheers

+ArkTheOverlord Gacha is a loophole. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, they have a "lottery" system where you can put in coins to win trophies. Since Lotto is gambling and gambling is illegal in Japan (or at least then), they had to rename it to "gacha". Gacha itself is a gamble to begin with, but technically it has honest chances in things like cases, regardless of how low the odds are, not to mention the fact that Gachas always cash out, regardless of how bad the item is.

See as the definition of gamble is "the wagering of money or something of value (referred to as "the stakes") on an event with an uncertain outcome with the primary intent of winning additional money and/or material goods." Gacha is buying a thing, that you don't know what it is, but you know it's going to be this toy. You are not wagering anything. If you want to label gacha as gambling, you need to label every TCG/CCG, seeing as in Magic, you can buy a booster pack that has cards in it, but you don't know what you're getting.

The market value comes from the amount you can win. Over a hundred openings, you will average slightly less than $2.50 per case, due to the free drops. If I'm remembering this correctly, you have something in the 70%s to get a blue (translation, lose), around 5% for a red and less than 1% for a knife. The odds are indeed terrible if you are only opening 1 case, but with a little common sense and basic econ, you should know that.

I have to say thank you. I used to gamble a lot and I also lost a couple of dollars ( knifes ). I was really disappointed and I kinda slipped into like a addiction. As soon as I got my money, I would loose it on gamble websites. I was at a point in my life where I didn't know what do with me and my life. Now I am back in my life and got me my social competence back. And you, WarOwl, were a big reason, I managed to get rid of my problem. If you read this.... Thanks man

He said gambling drives the csgo economy and to some degree he is correct. Things look bad for gambling and so the market crashed. Loads of people get the game just to bet on lounge and then resell the skins for real or steam money.

I am 13 years old, Canadian, and gamble. For me it is not an addiction.. It's something I do probably 4 times a year and I am highly responsible. I don't lose much and I know the risks. I don't go huge or anything. In one gambling session I probably spend $20 and sometimes I lose, sometimes I win. I have a job, I'm a responsible gambler, and I do not spend much money on it. Obviously if all I do is lose I stop for a long time.

let him gamble for fck sake man. you also did bad things with 13 you cant tell me different. he will get older, he will grow, and if he still keeps up gambeling than its his decsision. so just let him kind of try it out. its the same with alcohol or smoking, you most likely try it and if you like it you will do it more often and keep doing it and if you dont like it you dont do it anymore you maybo do it a second or a third time but if you still dont like it you are like: naaah i dont like that so i dont do that.

Okay, sou you said you wanted to leave Counter Strike youtubing because of the image it gives. I understand that choice and that you want that. But in my eyes it would be much cooler and unique if you were not one of "those" counter-strike youtubers. If you were to stop being a counter strike youtuber there would not be really anyone else outside of that ordinary. But that's my opinion. Do what you want and what feels best to you. Love the content man.

Ok, there is one response I see people making towards people making the "are case openings considered gambling" argument that I really don't get, and that is "you are guaranteed to get something". While with slot machines you can spend money and get none out of it, with cases, you're most likely going to spend money and get at least something back, but it is usually SO small in value, that you may as well have gotten nothing. Why do people use this argument when you can't deny this fact?

wow thanks for putting this out there warowl. I didnt realize someone like yourself actually did this a year ago. I posted on reddit about the sponsorship by betway on cs:go tournaments and got shut down by everyone cause they said it wasn't a kids game and how dare kids play csgo? like WTF....it is a kids game and betway should not be sponsoring these tourneys. As for the in game betting on skins its shocking how the games industry have turned to this and micro transactions to make money while getting kids addicted to gambling. fair play to you dude for speaking up about it. wish i saw this video a year ago but i only found your channel.

I did a video on my thoughts abut CSGO Gambling as a smaller CSGO KZbinr. If you don't wanna watch it. Its all good by my main point is this. Its in the best interest of third party gambling sites to make Bigger KZbinrs and streamers win more often than not. WHY!? Because it will mislead their audience into thinking that they too can win big via Gambling...

YouRandamoTube1237 Obvious point? If having an opinion would be so easy, people wouldn't argue at all. Heck, there definitely are different opinions and points on this topic. Some people are addicted to it, some think its sinful others find it okay and some make videos about it. Let people make their points and accept them if their arguments are good. There is no golden answer to this.

At least you have an actual guarantee to get certain cards if you buy an entire box which is fairly cheap ($30-$80 depending on what card /collectors / game) and then with those cards you can usually sell straight away and make extreme amounts of profit unless you are a collector.. I opened a new yugi box, for $80 I got the guarantee'd 3 rare cards which were worth over $50 each, and then found something around $180 by its own... with csgo cases & keys, the odds are always against you, and it's designed to milk money. The very fact you have to buy the cases & the keys half the time (talking around $15 for NEW cases as well) if you want to mass open - then you have to spend around $20-60 (just in keys) to even get a small portion of them unlocked, and in most cases 95% of the cases you open will be blues. Your comparison between the cards and cs:go keys and crates isn't a very good example to bring to this table...
