Gamcheon Culture Village is located in Gamcheon 2-dong, Saha-gu, Busan. In the 1950s, Taegukdo believers and Korean War refugees gathered together. There is still the headquarters of Taegukdo Island and it has been known as an underdeveloped neighborhood named Taegukdo Village, but the Village Art Project, in which artists and residents in Busan work together to paint murals on walls and buildings, has become a tourist attraction in Busan. The orderly array of terraced group housing along the foot of the mountain and the scenery of maze alleys through all roads show the uniqueness of Gamcheon Bay. The Village Art Project, which was launched by local artists and villagers to revive the characteristics and historical value of Gamcheon, became a stepping stone for the Gamcheon Culture Village creation project. Starting with this project, it has attracted various public offering projects and is currently in the spotlight as a tourist attraction visited by 300,000 people a year.

Busan is narrow land, there were many north korean refugee village when korean war. So Busan is sprawling development city. 140 years ago Busan is not city, just rural area trading Japan.

To add info. Not only Northern Koreans, the whole Koreans gathered to Busan cause it was the last city/place to defend.
