Agreed . The design of some characters (like the wolf-man form of the hero) are too cartoony for an Altered Beast game. Both the arcade and the Mega Drive versions of the original Altered Beast win over this one in almost everything, from graphics, to music and also gameplay. Specially the arcade version. But I think this "Altered Beast - Guardians of the Realms" is a very nice game anyway.

Oh god, I actually needed an Infinite lives code for this game due to how hard it was. (mainly the enemies) Although I really did enjoy it as well. (even though most bosses were pretty simple while the final boss was a bitch)

I was impressed by the length of the levels, but yeah those old pre-rendered CG sprites are terrible. Hand drawn would have had much more personality, and aged much better too. Also, as much as I loooved this game in the 80's, I'm not sure how much I would have even WANTED longer levels with outdated gameplay by 2002.

I love this game, and I really don't understand all the hate for it, I actually liked it better than the original. More levels, longer levels, more beasts you can transform into, more bosses, more enemies, better soundtrack, unlockables, more items, harder levels/bosses(especially since you couldn't play 2 players). Great game in my opinion.
