As a soldering tutorial, this video has been just as useful as an installation video.

Should I remove the C63 capacitor?

I don't notice a terrible amount of noise with my stock parts usually but I hear a lot more noise when playing specifically original gameboy games and not gba games, any idea why it's happening?
@tonytwostep_3 жыл бұрын
Looks awesome, thanks for making this little mod. Would this also benefit/reduce the noise if a headphone jack was installed as well?

Hey so I tried installing the kit last night and I thought I had put the pads for where it connects to the power switch correctly and when i went to turn it on the power would just flash and not turn on I've been trying to fix it and all i get is a flash and the system won't power on do i just need to replace the power switch and try again????
@RetroSix2 жыл бұрын
Desolder the ground battery spring pad and see if console turns on. If it does try just redoing all solder points and cleaning power slider
@darksilence98602 жыл бұрын
@@RetroSix how do I power the console if I desolder the springpad??
@RetroSix2 жыл бұрын
Desolder the Dehum kit pad attached to the ground pad. Not the actual spring
@darksilence98602 жыл бұрын
@@RetroSix okay I'll try but yeah I removed the kit completely and it still didn't turn on ima try to open the power slider and cleaning it to see if that fixes it not powering on but if that doesn't work should I just go and try to replace the power slider??

Looking forward to that pro cleanamp for SP. They improve the audio out too, right? From the dongle, I mean.

The pro for SP will improve headphones too once I do it

What would happen if you replaced that missing smd capacitor with a thin copper wire bit?
@RetroSix Жыл бұрын
You should short the board. Caps are not shorts and not 100% sure why quite a lot of people seem to do this (short a cap with a wire if missing). If a cap is missing either leave it off or replace it, never short it. Most caps are not required they are just good design decisions (decoupling, smoothing, filtering etc...). Very few caps are 100% required for a design to work

Installed a HDMI out on my IPSd SP and the audio of the HDMI has both a hum and pops/cracks would a kit like this clean up the audio or does it only affect the SPs speakers?
@RetroSix Жыл бұрын
Depends on which screen you are using?
@TheDisturbed6666 Жыл бұрын
@@RetroSix I think its the V2 of the funnyplaying IPS kit

They are known to add a lot of noise
@TheDisturbed6666 Жыл бұрын
So a dehum kit wouldn't be able to clean up the audio?
@RetroSix Жыл бұрын
@@TheDisturbed6666 Not if its the IPS screen adding the noise. Its literally the FunnyPlaying screens only, all other screens do not usually add noise but I have seen it many times where FP screens do

i soldered the dehum kit and it wouldnt turn on. then i removed the dehum kit and my gba turned on. what could be the problem? very informative videos btw, thanks 👍
@RetroSix2 жыл бұрын
Usually it's a dying fuse or T1 transformer
@TechNostalgiaNL2 жыл бұрын
I got it to work eventually. Most important tip of the video is to not bridge the both transistors but keeping the gap in the middle. I also soldered the amplifier.

Have I understand it right that the capacitor can still be there on its place? Or do I have to unsolder it first?
@RetroSix2 жыл бұрын
You have to remove all capacitors and replace them with new ones

I've set this up on my SP with the Wire-free clean amp pro and upped to a 850mAH battery, but i'm able to hear a hum no matter what the audio level is set to. Is this normal?
@RetroSix2 жыл бұрын
Make sure to clean the volume wheel and power switch. SP still has a little hum though even in perfect clean state

@@RetroSix thanks. Just trying to figure my power issue now as think i might have knocked something which is preventing it powering on. heres hoping i get it working again!

If I don't decide to get the amplifier for my SP would we still recommend this with an ISP mod?
@RetroSix2 жыл бұрын
I don't think you will hear much from original speaker it's range and volume are low. Depends how good your hearing is

I accidentally removed the capacitor on both of these points trying to solder the dehum kit on. If I bridge all the missing capacitor points with Kanthal wire, will it function fine? It won’t turn on at this point.
@RetroSix2 жыл бұрын
Don't bridge them thats a dead short. Probably will work just leaving them off though
