Hello there! First of all, awesome video mate. This is the most high-quality and thorough gba audio system explanation I've found. I would like to ask you. I switched the volume wheel off my GBA and now the volume doesn't turn fully off, with the volume wheel all the way down you can still hear the sound a little. Do you know what could be the problem?
@RetroSix Жыл бұрын
That's third party wheel that's not the same resistance as original so never turns off
@Marcelo-sx1ot Жыл бұрын
@@RetroSix Yes that may be the issue there. Do you know where I could get a good third party replacement for the volume wheel?
@RetroSix Жыл бұрын
Currently there are none on the market so only from donors
@Marcelo-sx1ot Жыл бұрын
@@RetroSix I removed the wheel completely and I can still hear that quiet sound. Testing voltage on pin 10 I can see I have 0.80 volts, where in your working tests you get around 0.40-0.50 volts. Do you have any idea what could be causing this? :/

Can you explain where each pad of the volume wheel goes to I accidentally pulled one up and I can’t seem to trace it on a working board. My current issue is the volume doesn’t go all the way down like I’ll still hear it if the wheel is all the way down

Hi, I had an issue with very soft audio. Where do you recommend that I should start looking into ?
@RetroSix2 жыл бұрын
Trim and resolder speaker wires, check voltage on volume wheel middle pin should be battery voltage at full volume so about 3V

@@RetroSix Thank You, now I'll just have to wait for the multimeter to arrive.

@@RetroSix hello retrosix good afternoon, maybe it would be too much trouble to share the diagram of the Gameboy consoles that you have, I think it will be very useful for us, your followers and the technicians, thanks

What are you using to power the gameboy? Is there a budget friendly option? Also can I use a multimeter in place of the oscilloscope? Or do I need one for this? Is so, what is a budget friendly option?
@RetroSix11 ай бұрын
Bench power and oscilloscopes here. retrosix.co.uk/Diagnostics-&-Bench-c141184571. You would need oscilloscope as multimeter won't do

Hello @RetroSix, your video and wiki are very useful to me, I try to fix a GBA with no sound, I follow the trace and went to c45 point, I get 3V there, if I flip the board and take the same point I got 0.6V, this is the same voltage I get into pin 10,14 and 16 in the Amp and at the volume wheel too, did I need to short like you do or not. I didn't understand why I didn't get same voltage in front and back of the board for the same point. Thanks in advance
@RetroSix2 жыл бұрын
If you have different voltage from top to bottom your via is damaged and you should run a wire between top and bottom to rejoin the connection. However C45 is headphone out left and it should be less than 1V so I think you are measuring wrong place perhaps. Join our discord for more assistance discord.gg/retrosix

Hello, sorry for my bad English. I wonder if you could help me, I get a game boy advance recently but well I got the same problem, it have no sound at all, so I want to fix it but I don't have the tools like the oscilloscope, so I hear you say you could solder a cable directly, could you tell me where I should solder it, I appreciate your help.
