Welcome to this little video of mine, where I compare the three different batteries for the Nintendo Game Boy Micro. I compare the OEM vs an AliExpress one vs. the Mahko battery. The Results were quite something. The Mahko battery far exceeded my expectation, however I did not expect the OEM battery to have such vast differences between the tests.
Want to buy anything shown in this video? Here is where I bought them:

Nice video, I got the HSABAT one a little while ago, still waiting for it to be delivered. I was debating on getting Makho’s one but the shipping cost was just too high, and i don’t use my micro too often so I felt like I’d be able to make it work since I always keep it charge and usually only play for an hour or two.

Also quick question, is the HSABAT battery isn’t 1100 mAh as advertised, how much would you average it to be given your tests? I might try to return it, since it’s pretty shady

Wow, finally a battery comparison for the Micro! Considering the GBM has the CPU and RAM all in one chip, it's no surprise it draws less power than the original GBA or the SP. Getting almost 8 hours with the flash cart is great but wow almost 19 hours with an OEM cart is INCREDIBLE! The Everdrive X5 Mini should get near 9 hours of battery life as well so not bad at all. With Eneloop Pro batteries in the original GBA (with IPS mod), you will get around 10 hours. I will be doing some tests soon particularly using the NOR Flash mode on the EZFlash ODE, theoretically it should give the best battery life hopefully getting close to OEM carts!

Oh I didn't know that about the Micros CPU.

@@dyXurChannel Yeah so to fit all of the GBA components into such a small PCB (actually 2 PCBs) they had to combine the CPU and RAM into one chip. Interestingly enough the Micro HAS the components to play GB and GBC games but they didn't finalize it during development so it sadly can't unless you use a flash cart. But these GB/GBC games are emulated on the console so its a hit or miss on some titles. I just love this console and its honestly the perfect companion device to carry with me!

@@JtwasLuck The more you know! I love it as well, sadly it's too rare for me to just carry it arround, but if I had it when it came out I would've had it in my pocket by default!

@@dyXurChannel Oh definitely sadly during that time I transitioned from the GBA SP to the PSP. This is my first GBA since then actually! It's quite rare but thankfully parts are starting to become more and more available. Screens are plentiful, we have 3D prints of the middle plate (rear plates aren't available to print just yet but those can be bought from China, injection molded plastic to be more specific). I got the FF one recently and its absolutely stunning, I'm considering getting a beat up micro and swapping with available parts so I won't feel bad about taking it outside!

The PSP is also great though (and much more versatile) even some resources are getting harder to find (as I found out, when I did a video about it). As for parts, as you said there are only 3D prints and cheap China replicas, but I hope one of the bigger players like FunnyPlaying could jump in. At least with some cool faceplates (there used to be a pretty good looking set of NGE aftermarket faceplates that sadly have never popped up again).

I bought this 600mAh battery from Amazon but I saw the same one being sold on Ebay, unfortunately the Mahko battery is out of stock at the moment. Seems like regardless what battery you go with they don't have the same plastic guides on the sides as the original nintendo battery. I shaved the plastic of the connector with a utility knife and after some effort was able to fit it into the battery terminal

Yeah, Nintendo for whatever reason decided to use a "proprietary" connector, rather than the standard. I think I mention it in the video, but the Mahko is something like a 806025 (or smth like that). If you find a reliable seller you dont really need to go with the Mahko branded ones.
