So glad you mentioned the screen size/productivity point. I am SOOOOO much more productive this way. Also, I am actually using that multiple desktop slidy over thingy on the iMac which is actually like having more screens anyway, but now that I am used to it, I am way more efficient on it! iMac all the way now.

Nice to see a review that talks about gaming performance. I am not a gamer anymore but it is good way of measuring and comparing performance to other computers. As for a smaller screen allowing you to focus, this was brought up a lot as a pro for using the iPad. If a smaller screen helps you focus, great. But, at a certain point one should put effort into developing the self discipline to not get distracted or loose focus. More tech isn't always the answer to improving one's life.

This is so true! There is sooo many of this, people spending way too much on tech to “help them focus” or put up with inconvenient stuff thinking it benefits them. You should try to focus better instead of spending money.

You can always use sidecar if you need a second screen. Great review. I’ve been through a similar transition from MacBook Pro to the Mac Mini - it definitely makes me appreciate my MacBook more because I’m using it for its actual purpose.

The fact this video dropped when all other KZbinrs uploaded theirs - =when Apple’s embargo dropped - is also a giveaway that he was given it early by Apple. Review units usually go back to Apple btw

Hi Ali! I love your consumer approach! Did you try adjusting the resolution with the WoW while gaming? With the retina 4.5k resolution your M1 chip had to render over 50% pixels on the screen than even your superultrawide you had earlier (11million compared to 7million). That is probably the reason your framerate dropped so much after the swap. One GPU core should affect that much.

Exactly. Honestly its kinda annoying when some new tech comes out and despite being inferior all the KZbinr's are like you know going from a 49" to a 24" has been refreshingly great. Come on doing video editing on a 24" standard screen compared to a 49" ultra- widescreen and working on a timeline doesn't and shouldn't even be compared.

about that screen size, I've previously owned windows laptop and had to plug in 24 inch monitor to multitask and get things done because it was way to small for me, but with the new MacBook Air I've found that 13 inch is really enough for me, especially with that gestures that are so useful that it's amazing how good they are, I've never thought twice when I switched to 13 inch MBA if I need more screen

From how you're describing it, it sounds like you're making a ton of sacrifices/downgrades. The only real positive is that you have a sharper display, and the main reason it's noticeable is because it's a small screen, though the resolution does play a part too. As long as you're happy with the setup, that's all that matters though.

For WoW, I would suggest that you change the game resolution to be half of your display resolution. Your mac mini does not have to deal with the 4.5K resolution that you have on your iMac. I use this half resolution method on my Intel iMac and it is very playable.

World of Warcraft runs that slow because you were running at 4.5K which is over than 11 million of pixels. Try to put it on 1920x1080p.

Calling the design with the unnecessary fat chin a "Good design" is perhaps totally biased and based on vested interests. If any other company came up with this design, they'd be bashed for using a design from the nineties.

My 2009 iMac is close to giving up the ghost, and I considered not replacing it. I have an iPad and thought about just using that or maybe getting a laptop. However, I can’t bear the thought of not having a beloved desktop and am planning on buying the new model. I do look forward to a 24” screen. For my limited needs, the base model is very adequate.
