GAME CHANGER SONY 100-400 GM

Id like to start by wishing everyone a happy new year :)
It's been a while since uploading a video as the weather I was hoping for over the holiday season just didn't happen it actually done the opposite, rain, rain, & more rain lol.
Determined to get out I decided to take the plunge & go for it hoping for at least some dry periods which I did get, but not a great deal ha. Over the Christmas period, I purchased a new lens that has been on my wish list for quite some time, the Sony 100-400 GM.
This was another reason to get out whatever the weather just so I could give my new lens a go. Being persistent I managed to get a go with the lens with which I'm absolutely over the moon. looking forward to when the conditions are more favourable for photography & show you guys what I manage to capture with it in 2021.

Glad to see you back, Bri. Those rainy days are so reminiscent of the Vancouver area. I recall when I was a kid and it rained for forty days and nights - no exageration. That's the Canadian west coast at its winter best and you captured it well.

The 100 - 400mm is a super lens, very versatile ... also makes a great close-up lens with the addition of a teleconverter, either 1.4 or 2.0 and the quality is amazing! Thanks for the videos, always enjoy them.

I have been considering buying this lens and I've had a hard time deciding between this and sony 200-600. I want to get into shooting birds but I also want something that's veritile. A big gripe that I've had is that this lens is external zoom and I think that might be a problem down the line while the 200-600 is internal zoom. But either way great video.

It's an amazing lens Jamie & can't wait to spend more time with it. The versatility is unbelievable, from close to long focal lengths, everything was filmed in this video using the 100-400. I still have my 70-200 which I love too, but this is definitely a step up from that lens regarding quality & well worthy of the GM stamp on the side. Nice video! I have the same 100-400gm as yours and I have a question about how you shoot. You used a quite small aperture and slow shutter speed while photoing the tree. Is that for an ideal depth of field? Shouldn't 1/6 sec shutter speed make the photo more blurry as the tree branches were moving?

With it being a longer focal length I tend to shoot at a smaller aperture most of the time to achieve the depth of field I’m after, waiting for the branches to stop moving 1/6 was quick enough to get the shot, I always review my shots to make sure I’ve got the depth of field/sharpness I’m after.

I recently bought a new 100-400 GM and when mounted on my A7IV and A7RV there is a slight rotational wobble (clockwise-counterclockwise) which I never experienced in another lens. Also tried it on my good old A7III and on that it does not wobble. I notice the wobble when holding the lens and the body handheld and rotating the zoom ring (smoothest setting) Anyone else noticed this? Is it normal?
