This stuff is magic, the only thing is to be really careful with really lightweight fabric. I managed a 3mm rolled hem on chiffon and it turned out fantastically but the little ‘hooks’ can get caught in the rest of your fabric and snag it. I also did my hem using 2 shorter lengths of ban rol because I found it was easier to handle than the 3 metre length I have

I have been using your technique with the ban roll for narrow hems and I love it! No more fussy ironing the 1/4" turn and then again.Yuck! What I did to keep the ban roll useful for more repeated use is this: I painted on clear nail polish at the edge where the width-wise threads are sticking up(not on the edge of the sticking up part but at the woven part) This way I don't get more of the length-wise threads starting to "shedd" and come off when you don't want them to. It is keeping the ban roll nice and neat. Thanks so much!

OMG! You’ve just changed my life! For all the time I’ve been sewing, I’ve used a narrow overlock (one needle) then followed those stitches to fold the fabric. Although it’s perfect for mid-weight fabrics, it’s not as successful on chiffon, organza, etc. Using ban-tape will mean these lighter weight fabrics won’t have that added weight from extra stitching inside the hem. I have a customer’s chiffon gown to re-hem and am full of hope instead of dreading it!! Thank you so much. New subscriber from the U.K.
