lmao so...I just started a karate class 2 weeks ago. I’m kind of a beginner at sparring (i’m 34 but i haven’t practiced karate since i was 8) but after watching your video, i started counting 3 seconds in my head when sparring with a (adult) student, and sure enough... they always move in at 3 seconds and i always step back right at 3 second and instantly move back in for a 1-2 combo and i always get them it’s so funny!

It's almost like cheating isn't it?! Haha. Glad it was helpful. Happy Training!

I like the boxing adage for when you are in striking range. Stick or move. Not that I always remember it :-)

Agreed. No sense in taking turns exchanging blows with them

Nice channel! It's fun to recognise some fighters of the used clips. Belgium :)

Nice! I have only been to Belgium once to train with Junior Lefevre and Alex Biamonti in Leige. Loved the time I spent there though. Hoping to visit Belgium again next time I am in Europe.

Great video. It makes you think about changing the rhythm. Even a fake can disrupt your opponent just for a second. 👍🏻

Do u think its a good idea for me to use it in full contact fights?
@KaratePlaybook4 жыл бұрын
I find that it applies to most striking arts. Of course there are exceptions but they are usually because of the other persons fighting style. Such as someone who is extremely aggressive or a really patient counter fighter.

Gotta say, this rule is game breaking for any person vs person. Heck, try analyzing game play footage. You'll see most will do an action at 2 to 4 seconds. "One-one thousand Two-one thousand ..." Count and analyze.

Yes, I'm talking about games. Video games or any tactile sport.

Sorry for my question, my english Is not really good! The 3sec rule Is to give a strike not less then every 3 sec?
@KaratePlaybook5 жыл бұрын
You don't have to actually strike every 3 sec. I would suggest to move, change angles, change distance, fake, or something else every few seconds.
