Without going into deep spoilers, in the 1st phase, the enemy presents mostly as an organic, draconic, magical and mystical entity. But there's technology under that appearance, hinted at by the electric guitars and synths you can just barely hear supplementing the orchestra. In the 2nd phase, the synths and electric guitars rise to prominence as the enemy's true nature is laid bare.

THANK YOU for covering this, I was hoping you'd get to it eventually 🥳 Remnant 2 music is such a banger all the way and it gets pretty much zero recognition on youtube. Annihilation is probably my favorite track from the game, and the fight itself throws an incredible number of twists at you out of quite literally nowhere. Remnant 2 is one of my favourite games of all time, and it's OST is sooo underrated. Also really well timed release, considering their biggest and final DLC just released earlier today. Edit: 4:55 So this is the final boss theme, and the reason why the first part was not as chaotic as the rest of the song is because both the boss & the arena start glitching out, and the fight keeps ramping up. 6:12 Yes, you're correct! It is very "other-worldly". The game has you exploring different worlds and fighting strong foes in those worlds, and afaik all culminating in this fight against a monster that has been the source of corruption in those worlds. Also, each world does has their own sounds, leitmotifs, and instruments used.

The phase 2 orb swarm forced myself and two friends to listen to this song for about 4 hours straight on our first playthrough. All of us were tired, frustrated and sluggish by the time we got here (partly because of the game crashing a lot during week 1, partly because we started with nightmare difficulty and partly because it was 1:00am). Improving at this fight was so insanely satisfying though. The music, atmosphere and mechanics came together to create a truly memorable experience. Beating Annihilation for the first time will remain one of the best gaming memories I have for quite some time and the fact it happened with two good friends elevates it even further. Nowadays, he's an easy no-hit fight with an incredible move-set and soundtrack. Always look forward to arriving at the Blackened Citadel each run.

So this theme is the final boss theme which explain the epicness of it since it's the final fight of the game. At the beginning of the fight you're fighting a dragon like creature made out of roots and the music reflect that by going with a very epic orchestral sound, after all, fighting a dragon is epic. But then phase 2 start and the dragon you've been fighting split itself in half and the whole arena start to glitch out into an alternate dimension and now you're no longer fighting just a dragon, you're fighting some kind of eldricht entity able to rewrite reality itself Then as the music goes to rock you return to the original arena with your dragon, giving you a sense that that's it you're back to what you know and you got it. But soon it goes back to synthetic as the boss pull you back into its glitched reality and switch back and forth at a moment notice Finally it comes back to the orchestral epic as you've seen everything the boss had and now it's your fight, you know what to do all is left is to win

Man, the mix ups the boss this track belongs to pulls in the second phase are so cool. It is difficult, but it's nowhere near the hardest fight in the game. The boss looks almost like a dragon yet not. It's such a good time, one of the reasons I haven't uninstallted the game. Personally I'm a fan of Sha'Hala's tracks, though mostly the second version (called Sha'Hala: Guardian of N'Erud (Physical), at least on youtube). Many bosses have two tracks since they can be fought in two ways, often similar but sometimes harder/easier. The tracks are also usually similar. Sha'Hala is best experienced first in Spectral, since finding the key to fight Physical is optional and can easily be missed if you don't know about it. This goes for the actual experience itself, since Physical is based on the Spectral version of the track, meaning that knowing about the lore and backstory of the world this boss fight is done on makes the whole thing feel wonderful. The music itself provides that perfect flavor to the entire experience and are awesome even on their own.
