Yeah Danny was nervous as HECK I could tell, but I felt SO PROUD of them when I saw them on Conan :') Saw them live in Auckland, and they were wayyyy more confident, and comfortable when they knew that they were playing for their fans! GAAADDDD I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. Hope that I get to see them again!
@LordPichuPal5 жыл бұрын
I did see them live as well, and based on the way Dan's talked about it, I think the big difference is with a live show, not only do you know your audience and how they'll probably react, but it's YOUR show. You have control over how things are arranged and how things sound and look, and it's more intimate with your audience because they came specifically for you. Playing on TV like Conan's show, where it's in front of a live audience that isn't specifically there for you, there's also the cameras and production crew all watching, so there's more pressure to get it right. You only get this one song to play for them and impress not only the crowd in the studio, but everyone watching on TV at home, too. A lot of those nerves he was feeling were because of knowing that it's on national television, and more people would be watching than just who you see in front of you. I still think they did fine, and it's cool hearing them talk about their experience, too. It is a huge honour to get invited to perform on any shows like that, and get recognized by a fellow comedian like Conan.

Yeah Dan sounded so nervous...I think it’s because playing something like Conan and being a band as “racy,” I guess, as NSP, you don’t know how the crowd is going to react. Because the people going there didn’t sign up for an NSP show, whereas the people who go to their concerts know their schtick and all the songs and whatnot, so you kinda don’t know if people are gonna be like “omg who’s this idiot making a fool of himself?” They don’t have to teach the crowd the chant at an NSP show and I think there was kind of a disconnection there. Like these aren’t necessarily fans, just people that wanted to see Conan. But they fucking killed it anyway, they’re so professional. The beginning was a little shaky but they pulled through! I’ve seen a couple comments on the video saying that they’re here from Conan and they subscribed because of it so YAY NEW FANS!! And the thing with Brian, that’s exactly what I thought. I figured everyone would think it was a bit. Because Ross is right, that’s the beauty of comedy. Mistakes can be played off as part of the show.

Tbh Andy Richter is the man. There's a reason he and Conan have been working together so long. Andy is the guy to tell Conan to stop stressing that little thing that wasn't intentional because it's not perfect to the intention, but that's what helps the funny.

This puts a whole new perspective on that performance! Came in here thinking the guys on Conan had been kinda brushing them off and making them nervous (which they definitely we're) but sticking to their mistakes even after the Conan team offered reshoots is admirable. Always respected NSP and TWRP and there's infinitely more respect now after hearing how everything went down behind the scenes!

@ThorsShadow4 жыл бұрын
You must have never performed anything in front of a crowd, no offense. If you did, you'd now what that is like. Now consider, that this show is watched by a bazillion people every time. You would be nervous as heck, too. Also, Danny's voice showed nervousness in the first one or two verses and then easily got more and more confident every second. You know, what's truly "painful"? Telling a live performer/artist to redo something just because of their nervousness. That makes me sad. But go on, keep demanding perfection from human beings, while you probably wouldn't have gotten out a single note in that instance because of nervousness. I'd rather see these artists how they are: human beings with emotions and imperfections.

I figured the upside down cards were a mistake. It was NSP and TWRP's big break on TV. It didn't make sense to put the cue cards upside down for a bit that only fans would get when they're trying to build a new audience by appearing on Conan.

I know Danny don't you know was their hit at the time, but I feel like the songs lyrics held them back from being themselves, and since TWRP was there, why not play a song where its not as racy but with just as much unf, yes I'm talking about the song "The Hit".
@frosty_09515 жыл бұрын
It's probably due to them being billed as Ninja Sex Party, and "The Hit" is a TWRP song. It would have been good, but I can see why they chose Danny Don't You Know.
