Great video! Quick notes: at 27m When scoring global demands, if there is a +1 D then the player who scored the vp actually takes a D not his opponent. This signifies that the industry was expensive during that time. And if there is a -D then that player lowers his D.

@@nithrania-gameinanutshell @30:00 you stated "since Europe doesn't have any territories or naval spaces", but that confuses me. I saw those 2 naval spaces in Europe. Do they not count for some reason? I'm so close to 100% confidence in teaching. I'm still confused about "taking control" with markets, political spaces, etc.

This was very nicely done. I think it would be useful, though, when you've done one of these, to have an example of play follow-up video.

Thank you! I'm not a native speaker, I'm Slovak, and other players (at least the Imperial Struggle players 😄) in my group don't speak English as good as I do. So it would be quite difficult to make a gameplay video under these circumstances. However, we may try it one day. We do gameplays in Slovak language and the feedback is great, so maybe one day we'll try to do one gameplay in English. :)

Great review, probably the best that is currently available. Wouldnt hurt to have better resolution though.
@nithrania-gameinanutshell4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. In terms of resolution - I can see 1080p50 HD, so that should be fine. Or do you mean the "video quality"? I use the standard "KZbin" rendering settings in my video editor, and this output file was 4GB large anyway. It's a standard H264 MPEG-4 format.
@kornelije.h4 жыл бұрын
There is nothing wrong with the resolution. Everything is at the best quality.

Eow thats strange the computer I was using only offered 340p resolution, but now can see it goes up to HD. Sry about that.
@nithrania-gameinanutshell4 жыл бұрын
@@asgeiroj That's OK 😊, that happens when the video has been just uploaded and KZbin is still processing the HD versions, which may take up to 20-30 mins. after the SD version 340p is ready.

One point that is misleading in the rules and explained in your video in such a way that I am not sure whether you misunderstood this or is just poorly worded, is the rules to remove the succession era cards! Above all, the phrase "again ignoring the discard pile" at the end of the rules leads to more misunderstanding and should be placed directly after "then shuffle the Revolution Era Event cards into the remaining draw pile" I am removing all non-relevant text from the rules so that it is easier to understand. 4.1.1 Deck phase ... On Turn 5 (the first turn of the Revolution Era) ... Both players also remove any Succession Era cards remaining in their hands from the game ... 4.1.6 Deal Cards Phase ... During the Revolution Era, remove any drawn Succession Era Event cards from the game as they are drawn, and draw replacements ... These two rules remove all Succession Era cards from the game without interrupting play.
@nithrania-gameinanutshell3 жыл бұрын
Well, as I understand it - you ignore the discard pile so the Succession era cards should stay there. No idea why, but that's how I understand it.
@KatoGrinsihara3 жыл бұрын
@@nithrania-gameinanutshell May I refer you again to the '4.1.6 Deal Cards Phase' rules, which require you to immediately remove any drawn Succession Era from the game in the Revolution Era and which you overlooked. So it doesn't really matter if you remove the Succession Era cards from the discard or draw pile. As soon as you draw one it will be removed anyway.

I would like my comment to be received as constructive feedback, not hate. I think you explain the rules of board games too mechanically, especially this game. This video is rather for people who have already played Imperial Struggle and want to refresh their understanding of the rules or clarify certain details. However, it lacks the simplicity of explanation required for someone who genuinely wants to learn how to play. I tried to play for the first time after watching your video and I was unsure with the basics. Your "how to play" offer precise guidance for even the most complex actions, but it sometimes lacks the context and purpose behind these actions, causing the overall feeling of the game to get lost. All the best.
@nithrania-gameinanutshell Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for the feedback. I did this video more than 3 years ago and the feedback like yours helped me improve my videos since then. However, in general, my videos are usually short, concise and complete rules explanations. As such, they are rather mechanical, but there are many people who prefer exactly this type of videos. There are other videos that explain the game by playing the actual game and commenting it, for example. They tend to be much longer but the additional comments are obviously helpful. Everyone has a preferred style of learning the game, and I fully respect that my style doesn't suit everyone.
