I like that Jon & Sam both didn't immediately think back when they may have heard from Stannis the island was full of dragon glass "yeah we need to go there right now!" They had other things to think about & deal with and it felt realistic that they it wasn't immediately an "aha" moment.

Jon is a Stark, dammit! Remember in the 2nd episode, on the Kings Road, Ned and Jon talk. He tells Jon “you may not have my name, but you have my blood.” Ned Stark’s blood does run through Jon’s veins because he’s half Stark, his sisters son. Ned is his uncle, his blood.

The Hound wasn’t right. The man and his daughter did die but they died because the man killed his daughter and himself because couldn’t let her die starving and they were starving because The Hound stole all of the man’s silver. The Hound is the reason they’re dead.

The Hound saw their state and knew that silver wasn't going to help them. Their farm was not producing enough & the man wasn't going to magically store more. Anyone else nearby (not many) would not be selling. You can't eat silver. So trading their own food for silver was unlikely. So the man & daughter probably would have still died. Doesn't make stealing from them right obviously.
