It was AWFUL. I remember That not even 20 hours after the final episode aired. Several different people put a petition that got thousands and thousands of signatures demanding that they reshoot all of season 8 and make it good. That's how some of them framed it...... Redo it and make it good.😂 My two biggest problems with season 8 are skipping the actual reveal of Jon being Targaryan to Arya and Sansa...how the hell did they not know we would want to see that? And of course, the selection of Bran for king. Are you KIDDING ME? He said himself TWICE in just this season that he can never rule anything, hes the 3 eyed raven now. Even Edmure would have been better.

Just a note to say, Jaime actually was with Brienne for a while. I was SO pissed that they put their copulation and his desertion in one episode.😠 Braime shippers waited YEARS for that, and this is how they treated them. I don't really wanna get into a deep discussion on it and (since I don't remember them) take the time to look up quotes and arguments. As an aside, I do agree the plan was, in retrospective, not as good as it sounded. Especially not continuing to go with that plan after it immediately failed spectacularly on all fronts. And especially the going beyond the wall and trying to convince Cersei to help and then BELIEVING HER. So yeah, maybe you're right. My opinion was mostly based on the responses I remember. On Jon talking her about burning castles and cities to the ground and Tyrion talking about these huge numbers. It's also based on the memory of her repeatedly talking about burning cities to the ground. All four she conquered in previous seasons, actually. But she might as well have never said it about King's Landing. Maybe I'm mixing things up. Only thing I'm trying to share in this reply is that I was very much certain of my memories, but I might have assumed or remembered wrong. I remember a lot of conversations about this and I remember several people talking about things like I mentioned Jon and Tyrion doing, and I remember her talking about what Viserys would do (which is not a strong argument considering her opinion on Viserys, but in context and looking at her and considering Tyrion's response it kinda sounded like she was considering it until he tipped the balance the other way). Somebody pointed this out to me the other day which I think makes a lot of sense: Jon didn't have to tell Sansa and Arya straight away. Even if he didn't want to keep it a secret from his family in the long run, thrre was absolutely no urgency and he could've just waited untill they took King's Landing and Dany was settled in as Queen. Specially because he said he didn't want it, and ESPECIALLY knowing Sansa wasn't fond of Daenerys. But anyway... they of course needed that shit to be spread after 10 minutes because doing things with a bit more logic would've implied more planning and better writing. Ned's parents were cousins. Tywin was married to his cousin. Jon marrying Dany wouldn't have been too much of a stretch. Also everyone kept advising Dany not to burn the city. All she needed to do was fly to the Red Keep (to Cersei's quarters) with a few guards on her dragon and take out Cersei and that problem would’ve been solved. With no queen, Dany’s army could’ve surrounded the city and forced a peaceful surrender, like Jaime did with the Blackfish/Lord Edmure at Riverrun.

This show will always be in my list for one of the top shows of all time. I liked Season 8 episodes 1-3. However, the writers and show runners got into too big of hurry. Dany's descent into madness would've made more sense if they had fleshed her story out a lot more. I understand why she was starting to go down that path but she went 0-100 in two episodes.. The writers turned Tyrion into a fool. They made Jon into a two line parrot with no backbone("I don't want it/ She's my queen). They completely reversed Jaime's redemption by turning him back into a total p.o.s by taking Brienne's virginity and breaking her ❤️. Just my honest opinion.

It was wise for Daenarys to try and not push forward to burn the ships after Rhaegal got shot down. It would put her last dragon Drogon in jeopardy of being killed. They had too man ships with those scorpion crossbows to get close enough to burn them at that moment. Better fight for another day than risk it all right then and there. I just want to point out those men that accompanied her outside of Kings Landing were not her entire army. She didn't bring them all for the meeting with Cersei.

Jamie is a grey character. Neither all bad nor all good. But just think for a moment, when he killed the mad king he literally saved thousands of people in King's Landing. Some would consider him a hero. His one big flaw as a character is his incestious relationship with Cersei. And the man has a conscience, cause he feels awful for the crimes he has commited and never thought he deserved any better, a better honorable life with Brienne. He's got some serious self esteem issues that's for sure.

The last words of Missandei are underestimated but it is one of the most important scenes of season 8 imo. She says "Dracarys" before she dies and it has several meanings for Dany : burn the city, burn Cersei or both. Her future actions are not as confusing when we remember this scene.

BINGO!!!! I still think her full "madness" in these last 2 seasons was very rushed. But she was showing all these tendencies to believe that SHE was the sole arbiter of what was right and wrong the entire show. We rode with her because she was winning easy moral battles - ending slavery. It so black and white. Slavery is bad. It is right to end it. The problem is that Dany was "raised" into an adult by the Dothraki - meaning she was told they only respected strength. So, being violent and conquering was the only way. We loved that she seemed to be doing the right things - so much that we never saw how much she had to be reined in by her advisors, the looks they would give her and each other. THE SAME LOOKS AS VARYS. They knew she wasn't THAT much different, only that she was exceptional in other ways. She spent all those years in a place where she didn't need to learn politics, where taking over was the only strategy - and that's why Mereen was a disaster for her and why Daario Neharis said she wasn't a queen, that she was actually a conqueror. And that's why Cersei warned the Iron Bank that Dany wasn't a monarch, that she was revolutionary, meaning that Dany wasn't able to create stability, only dismantalization. Dany doesn't build, Dany only breaks. She is a hammer, not a foundation. She only acquires, she doesn't plant. She spent all that time conquering a place without learning politics, freeing slaves. Then came to conquer a place without slaves (so no moral victory to seek) and without any knowledge of the other houses or the politics of Westeros. It was a disaster waiting to happen. Either way, I adore her dearly and D&D can eat a bag o'dicks for what they did to her story.

@@czest-d7f well said… we like her because she ends slavery, because dragons are cool, and because she’s a general badass. She looks like she’s the perfect person to overthrow the truly evil Cersei Lannister. Like you, I never said Dany was evil. I said she wasn’t good. Her methods are just as ruthless. Her attitude of entitlement to the throne is bad at best, reprehensible at worst. Take away her dragons and place her in Westeros to begin with and she’s basically a female version of Stannis.

I find it weird that we just saw a dragon get shot down, the only way to burn the ships is to fly directly at them when they have drogon in their sights and hes like “why arent you burning them daeny” because shed get shot straight out of the sky?? They were aiming right at her! Also drogon was hit a few episodes ago and it certainly DID NOT bounce right off him, he fell out the sky and hand to land cause he was in pain

Then missandei. But I don't agree with Dani burning the innocent children and people down. She's a saver of slaves, and that's exactly what they are. 1:01:24 You are speaking FACTS. A big part of Daenerys' descent into madness was how unappreciative they all were after how much she sacrificed for them. She felt used (rightfully so), betrayed and most of all she felt alone. The last straw was definitely Missandei. It's a tragic story, and if we were gonna go down the route of madness for such a beloved character all along, then at least we (the audience, who has been rooting for her since the beggining) and the actress (who put her everything into this character) deserved more screen time and a deeper dive into Daenerys' psyche. This was undeniably rushed, not to mention very disrespectful torwards Emilia Clarke. How they actually thought that by pulling a 180 in the last two episodes we would "throw her in the bin" is beyond foolish. She f*cking did what she did, and it didn't make me love her less. Anyway, two more episodes and we shall know peace 😂

I heavily support what you said. The hypocrisy is real. People hate on Daenerys, but she lost everything because she wanted to peacefully take the throne and save the whole continent from Cersei. She should actually burn them all at this point. In a short span of time, she lost half of her army, both her children died in front of her own eyes, Jorah and Misandei... and she also lost Jon because he didn't want to be with her because she's his aunt.

Well it shows you that Cersei, far from being devious, didn't really even have a choice in staying out of the Long Night. To take all her troops and send them to a hostile location to wage a war on behalf of the enemy only to then be vulnerable to ambush is not a decision any sane ruler would make.

​@@luvinlifee People are mad at her because they are literally predisposed to hate her from S1. Remember the scene at Jon Arryn's funeral, a classic 'establishing the villains' scene. It is highly implied that: 1) Jaime and Cersei murdered Jon Arryn and 2) that they did so to cover up a villainous act. Later on, we learn neither of these things are true (I mean incest is icky, but they're not hurting anyone except Robert who is already unfaithful to Cersei) but the minds of the audience are already poisoned against Cersei and anything she does is depicted in this light. People treat her as this absolute villain when, while being far from perfect, almost everything she does is out of self-preservation. I mean, she is even lasting against an overpowered foe for much longer than most people could anticipate. And now, of course, people are enraged that she simply doesn't roll over and allow a foreign invading force to conquer Westeros, a force we identify with as the 'good guys'. GOT is absolutely brilliant in mercilessly destroying all the shallow genre tropes that make for cheap and predictable 'good will triumph over evil' stories!
