It's one of my two favorite scenes of the whole show - the other one being the last vigil of arms in the hall of Winterfell castle before the long night. They're quite similar, in a way: all those individual stories entangled in each other, former enemies forced to get along... It's priceless.

One of the crazy things about the GoT books is how much foreshadowing GRR Martin did. King Robert, in one of the very early episodes talking about the insanity of fighting Dathraki in the open fields. The other one that blows my mind. It was 25 years between the character Hodor being introduced in the books, and when the meaning of his name was finally revealed. Can you imagine keeping that secret that long..

You have got to be joking. Please tell me you are joking. GRRM had absolutely no idea what "Hodor" means when he wrote the first book. He had no idea about anything that goes on in the later books. He meant to write three books, maybe four, and only changed his mind because the books were so successful. That's why everything is turned upside down in the fourth book (or fifth?) This whole series had become a daily soap. That's why I stopped watching after Joffrey's death, the first time GRRM killed off a main character. _

Robb Stark was a placeholder so that John could go beyond the Wall first and then become the King in the North. So yeah. Joffrey really is the first protagonist who was killed. _

Who's fault was that? Martin had 6 years since the show's start to offer up an end (season 7), hell he hasn't even published one since that same year over a decade ago. AT least put the blame where it belongs. Of course the ending was rushed, it had been going 8 years by then. It was clear no new book was coming any time soon. How long were they supposed to wait? People do want to work on other things...

You know what increases the chances of not getting hired by anyone else? Screwing up the biggest show because you rushed the job you were payed to do just so you can go and do another. Those two are horrible hacks and it was only Martin's guidance that kept that fact hidden for so long. When he stop covering for the idiots it became clear just how bad those people were at their job. They can't write dialogue, they can't write believable motivations, they can't even create logical events. The best they could come up was dick jokes, teleporting armies and plot armor.
