Honestly, he has the most satisfying and fulfilling death of all the series since season 1, compared to all the deaths we have seen so far (even Jorah's death was poorly written, he could have survived to fight in King's Landing and tempered Daenerys). We were all waiting for this. All his character ark was built around his revenge and hatred for his cruel brother, through his journey to find his redemption after all those years of serving as a servile dog, about all his past actions of killing on orders without remorse. He saved two lives, the most meaningful lives he could dream of, Sansa and Arya. He saved them several times, and so he has accomplished his destiny to redeem himself. He died exactly like we were expecting it, instead of subverting our expectations once again for shitty shock value which loses any interest after the first viewing (season 8 is already a pain to rewatch after episode 2, no interest anymore). This is the best proof ever that subversion is the worst shit when it's done without talent and narrative development, and that a proper built ending through the years is better than any other attempt. Like I've read it on the internet nowadays, planting arrows to an end must never be meaningless. Even GRRM declared that many authors made the mistake to change their end to subvert people who had already found the hints. Fatal error.

Ricky Crawford Sandor won Cleganebowl in season one. Watch when The Hound goes to defend a downed Loras Tyrell from Gregor. He stops the attack, backs away a few paces, then opens his left hand menacingly towards his older brother without words saying "try me." Then they clash, briefly, with Sandor dodging Gregor's final swing and kneeling before Robert at the same time. The Hound won.

Sandor did, and in the end, it's once again because of Gregor that Sandor loses something, and this time it's his life.

Sandor Clegane/The Hound has always been my favorite character. For him to die like this was beautiful and poignant. He overcomes his fear to throw the man who gave him that in what he fears most. I always say The Hound is The Wolverine but midevil and he even had a Logan style death. He even had a tender "don't be what they made you" type of moment with the girl he practically loved like a daughter.

There are 3 BIG ones under the 3 main hills of Kings Landing. The Sept of Baelor, which was blown up, the Dragon Pit, and the Red Keep. Apparently they were always finding new ones.
