Idk. We saw that Aegon and Helaena were not speaking with each other. Also Aegon is acting very impulsively this episode. It doesn’t seem beyond plausibility that he offhandedly ordered those executions without thinking it through.
@jsb15854 ай бұрын
I like that they've fleshed out the characters a bit more, particularly Helaena. In the books, she was described as simple, pleasant and a devoted mother. I like that they've included a bit of that Targaryen mysticism to her character, someone a little odd, tormented by premonitions. Each of Green siblings has their own "thing". Aegon is brash and impulsive, Aemond is sulky, violent , yet vulnerable, Helaena is strange and misunderstood, and Daeron (who we haven't yet met) is described as the best and most likable of the bunch. It's a dynamic which I hope they explore further.

"Criston Cole is misogynistic and homophobic." This is A Song of Ice and Fire. That's normal, and it's considered moral by their standards. Western society in our own world didn't abandon these traits until half a century ago, and half of Western society along with most other cultures still consider them normal. If you're going to judge Criston negatively by those traits, you have to apply the same judgment to basically every person in Westeros, minus a few more sexually-open cultures. At that point, it just becomes a silly thing to do. A more sensible take is that Cole (in the book) is fighting for his own power, aggrandizement, and potentially revenge against Rhaenyra, *while also upholding traditional Westerosi values.* That would make him both good and bad. Not Cole in the show, though. Cole in the show is just a repugnant hypocrite.

My Seasmoke fan theory is that Laenor died as soon as he got to the disputed lands. He was always talking about and excited for war but he'd never been in one without his dragon or his own army at his back. In essos he is just another man with a sword.

For a short while, when I was 20 I was engaged to a 55 year old man, older than my parents but a long time friend of theirs and godfather to my sister. My mother was horrified but my father instantly gave his blessing. The man was more than comfortably well off having recently sold his solely owned emerald mine which had produced some of the finest emeralds in the world and so my father thought that I would be well taken care of. So I can understand the attraction of younger women to older men...until they realise what it actually means.

Makes sense for Tyrells to stay neutral. Same logic they used to oppose Stannis: their vassal house who has better history is tied to the royal house threatening the position of Tyrells as Lords Paramount. In fact, I think they would like to support the blacks to weaken their annoying vassal, but they are surrounded by Oldtown, Lannisters and Tullys (at the time wasn't known that Tullys side with blacks). And considering how many reach houses sided with greens, tyrells were right to stay neutral.

Daemon is far far far from unique in this and shouldn’t be judged as “the creepy one” - look at Viserys and Alicent. You guys don’t understand what it takes to maintain power and control in an absolute monarchy - it requires someone like Daemon who commands respect and is going to offer you the carrot or the stick one time and after that you get the dragon instead. I actually think Cole is a very tragic character, he put this mask of a narcissistic evil person since he killed Joffrey, and it all comes from the rules of Westeros, I think his character shows the tragedy of celibacy and sexual control over certain members of Westeros(Medieval) world. If he was not taught that sleeping with the princess(or any woman) was the most horrible thing, I think he would turn out to be a decent person. Also goes for the sactionity of the royal virginity that must be upheld by women in such society which is showed in Alicent.

I dont mind Trey filling in for Preston, but can he tone down the use of the word "like" after every other word? It's getting very hard to listen and please dont take this the wrong way.

I really didn't really vibe with this episode, it had it's moments but no could seriously have cared that Arryk and Erryk killed each other? I don't even know which was which! I asked my dad what he thought and he agreed the character work is lacking so far (he doesn't remember half the character idk if that's a point against him or the show though). There are two problems with the show right now: one characters aren't earning their big dramatic scenes (see the twins) and two the characters with conflict with each other are never in the same room anymore. I've been re-reading Feast and every Brienne chapter where nothing happens has more character than this entire season! I mean who is your favorite character in this show? And is that character better than your 10th favorite in ASoIaF? Hopefully I'm overreacting I want to see more of Aemond's bare naked ass and less of Criston Cole's one note ass. Why wasn't Jace fucking the Stark guy? It would too interesting? Nvm I'm just losing my mind maybe ep 3 will be good and I'll completely change I'll shut up.

Bored to tears by this episode. Not entirely sure why "we" think its so great. To me this episode basically just didn't get much wrong. Very little instant travel teleporting, the writers attempting to make Daemon more villainous yet again(and thankfully failing), most annoying characters have a sex scene...again. Otto Hightower finally getting an interesting scene. We're not setting a high bar here. This entire episode had nothing on King Viserys last time on the throne from season one.

If this episode bored you then you never really like Game of Thrones. You just liked the dragons and sword fighting.

I don't think you can even *be* more wrong. Also, I just wrote my fave scene from season one was the struggle King Viserys had walking to the throne for the final time. I think it's actually my favorite scene in all of GoT. No dialogue, just great acting, and Daemon helping his brother with the final steps(unscripted), set to satisfying music, and underlining the absolute struggle of a diseased King never appreciated in his time having to seat a throne that killed him. So yeah, the conclusion are my 45yr old self is a child who likes dragons and sword fighting. Obviously. Even more ironic since I just got home from the cinemas, yelling at my friends for dragging me to see a much worse than advertised action film. The genre I dislike the most. Or at least outgrew in the 90s. (all the scenes that should feel impactful didn't. They aren't executed to its full potential(outside of the Hightower dismissal), The crowds ire against murdering the ratcatchers felt flat, same with the murdered child procession. Quite frankly, the head geninely falling off, or at least starting to lose its stiches would have been the better choice. I mean, I understand what the writers want with most of the scenes, it's not acted out or extended to its full potential, everything felt rushed. (a common problem with the show in general) Rhanyera telling off Daemon felt yet again like they are hammerin' into the audience that he should be a villain. Makes me just dislike the writingroom instead. I barely even remember more scenes because half the things happening was either setup for things I don't know as a non-book reader, or I cannot know yet if its gonna be important or not. Maybe this episode gets better with time, right now it felt like a filler)
