Or you know if he didn't want to actively lie, he could just have kept his mouth shut. But apparently he walked out of the throne room, and gave a full confession to a murder nobody knew had happened, because there wasn't even a body. Sigh. Oh Jon.

I think the shot of the dragon behind Dany is the best part of the last 2 episodes. Might be the only part I actually liked/loved. Edit: just finished the other half and remembered that even though I hate how we got there, I did like the endings for Brienne and Sansa. But just these three things.

For some reason, seeing Tyrion repeatedly slam the brick down as he grieved finding Jaime and Cersei in the rubble, I thought back to his story about their cousin (or other relative...can't remember for sure). "Smash beetles!"

When Tyrion bangs the rocks after he find Jaime & Cersei...I believe he got his answer when he talked to Jaime about Cousin Orsin crushing the beetles. Tyrion feels it now, frustration, anger, sadness.

Everything was always going to play out the same way as far as the plot points are concerned. Jon killing Dany, Bran becoming king, Dany burning Kings Landing, etc. You can go back and look at countless foreshadowing moments. Dany's vision in 2x10 where she walks through a destroyed throne room when it's snowing (ashes). She reaches out for the throne but never touches it because she hears her baby dragons screaming, which is foreshadowing the point that she will never end up being queen of Westeros. The Bran vision in season 4 where he sees the dragon flying over Kings Landing, which is the same shot of Dany flying towards the Red Keep in 8x5. In season 3, Bran asks Jojen what he's seen in his visions and Jojen replies "The only thing that matters... You." But even with those examples, the main issue is they didn't add any substance in between the plot points towards the end because they shortened the seasons. They rushed to the end because Star Wars was more important to them than finishing GoT. It's not like they couldn't write a good story, because the Hound and Arya in season 4 was original content that wasn't in the books for example. They just didn't want to take their time with the ending so they could move onto other things, which makes the whole thing even worse. Almost feels like justice that they got fired from their Star Wars gig because of how they closed out GoT. Karma.

You can compare the GOT to a cooking show. They give you all the ingredients and show how to cook the dish before its presented. Thats what made the show great. But the last two episodes were like if the cooking show just show you the finished dish.

Nah. Season 6 was still great and arguably the best season of the show. The main problem is Dan and Dave wanting to move on. They shortened the seasons in order to rush to the ending, hitting plotpoints without much in between. The worst part is, they are extremely capable writers. A lot of the original material that wasn't in the books was great, like season 4 Hound/Arya for example seeing as the Hound "died" at the Crossroads Inn in the books. So it's even more infuriating knowing that we could've gotten a great ending if they just took their time. They could've kept everything the same, but just flesh things out more by not shortening the seasons. That's literally all they had to do, but NOPE. Star Wars was more important to them. Ironic that they got fired from that job because of what they did to the end of GoT, so karma is a bitch.

This ending pissed me off as I still supported Dany😂 yeah I know she was wrong burning down the city but it was visually stunning (the fire)😂 She will return though as Drogon took her body east where the Red Priestesses can resurrect her because her “destiny hasn’t been fulfilled”

It was snow, mixed with ash. Ash is much darker and not crystalline, and when she touches the throne (both the vision and now) it is white and crystalline. This is important because it symbolizes Snow stopping her from taking the throne and (I'm assuming in the books) Snow "on" the throne.

It was rushed and superficial, but it still made sense until the king's moot (the SNL skit, as opposed to the Seinfeld mini-ep coming in Part 2). The "tonal shift" at the episode's halfway point was the straw that broke GOT's back and turned something that could've still felt epic, into hot garbage. Even more heartbreaking, the cast knew, from the table read (everyone, but Conleth is forever our spirit animal) to the interviews leading up to the premiere, they tried to temper our expectations, but everyone thought they were kidding. From Emilia's "best season evaah!" to Peter's expressionless hostage tape to poor Kit's "disappointing" followed by a full-on nervous breakdown.
