Another Novel Note: This is the first time three dragons had taken to the sky to fight a common threat since Aegon the Conqueror and his two sister-wives burned two armies on the Field of Fire 300 years ago. The Dance of the Dragons did have multiple dragons taking flight, but their dragon riders were fighting each other.

I love how Yara Greyjoy looked at Theon for approval first when Danerys told her the Iron Islands would have to stop all that pirate crap if she wanted an alliance. And when Yara put out her arm to seal the deal, Danerys also looked over at Tyrion for approval first before taking the deal. It shows a great deal of respect for Theon and Tyrion, and it also highlights the wisdom of these two rulers. Both women trust their advisors to do their jobs. Its not like King's Landing where either Circe or the High Sparrow makes those decisions vicariously through Tommen based upon confidence in only their own wisdom.

Just so y'all know, Arya is healed now because she drank from the pool of water in the House of Black and White when she brought the Waif's face back. You can see two lines of blood leading up to the pool (her wound and the Waif's face dripping), and then only one after it leading down to the Hall of Faces (just the Waif's face). The water kills those who aren't worthy (like it did to the little girl that Arya talked with), but heals those who are worthy, like when it healed Arya's eyesight. It's a subtle thing in the episode, but it does explain how Arya got healed. That's why she shows so signs of pain or bleeding in that final scene with Jaqen.

She allowed Jon and and thousands to go into battle, knowing they didn't have enough men, all the while knowing that the Vale Army were on the way. If only she had told Jon thousands of men would have lived.

I think Sansa still has trust issues. She doesn't want to believe in people and being hurt again if they die. Also I think she wasn't sure Baelish was going to show up and at what cost. She didn't want to give Jon false hope plus explain her relationship with Baelish. She doesn't know how much Jon cares for her. I think this battle is when she realized Jon is ready to die for her and House Stark and that she can really trust him.

I got the same message from her actions and decision to keep the truth from Jon. I have to confess that it still sorta got to me that she refused to tell him until the actual battle had ended. Just saying, if I was Jon I’d have been pretty disappointed & hurt if my sister(who I’d give my life for)wouldn’t trust me I even far enough to tell me that she’s actually had the solution to the problem of not having enough fighting men all that time.

She is damaged goods with an awful experience over most of the show. She became a schemer, demanding and way more egoistic. She is a result of her envoirenment. She is like Cersei, like Balish and a bit like Ramsay as well. Interesting and well done development i guess - but not a good leader and not fit to lead anyone in a better future. She lacks the kindness and justice the Starks are adored for - lost it somewhere on the road it seems.

@@joelquinn5347 Sansa was never the kind sister, she treated Jon like crap, just like her mother, Kat. All Sansa ever cared about was being a "lady" in a castle. She could have gone from Kings Landing with the Hound, but she refused his help, because the Hound wasn't high born enough for her. Then she refused Brienne's help, and let Littlefinger convince her to marry Ramsey, knowing the Bolton's betrayed her family. If anyone can't be trusted, it's Sansa, not Jon.

It kinda bothers me that Steve doesn't get why Dany should not and cannot start killing and burning people down. It's not just her father that was a mad Targaryen, madness runs in the family (that's why incest is not good), "every time a Targaryen is born, the Gods flip a coin" So her just unemotionally burning people down is no good at all. Also Tyrion's selective memory shines in this episode.

Before 8x5 there were only 3 mad Targaryens in 400+ years and all 3 were male. Daenerys didn't just have Targaryen blood, she was mixed with Velaryon, Arryn, Rogare, Martell, Dayne, & Blackwood.

He had his son's wife gang raped, villages destroyed, got a House to break guest right to slaughter his enemies at a wedding, put his youngest son on death row for being a dwarf, ordered a princess to be raped and her & her children (both under 5 years old) murdered, etc.

@@JoshuaMT I agree that Tywin wasn't mad (I see him as being like a less ambitious Julius Caesar) but had he been Targaryen there would be plenty of fans who would accuse him since they count almost every action as an excuse to label a Targ mad. One guy was seen dancing naked in the Red Keep and considered mad for it. The Red Keep is his house. How is dancing naked in your house mean you're mad? Rachel Green from Friends danced naked in her apartment with the window curtain open. I wouldn't say she's mad. There was a Targaryen woman who was forced into a Sophie's Choice in which one of her children was going to be murdered and she had to decide which. Then they beheaded the one she had chosen to spare and whispered in the other's ear that his mom wants him dead. She was so distraught that she stopped having sex & eating, and just wanted to lay in bed and cry, then committed suicide. How is that mad? That's guilt stricken grief.

I watched this episode just now and was speechless. Every. Single. War scene was amazing. The dragons too gave me chills. And then the Battle of Winterfell was just amazing. I didn’t even know who was going to win. I teared up a bit when Lord Bolton shot Jon's brother right in front of him. I’m glad that those ravenous dogs ate him up in the end. And the calvary charge at the end kf the Battle of Winterfell, just amazing! Best episode of season 6.

StormWolf I agree she should have told Jon about the Vale, but it was uncertain of them coming at that point anyway. But she DID give good advice about Ramsay. She predicted he would play Jon using Rickon, which Jon ignored, abandoning his plan in order to save his brother, thus giving up a tactical advantage. If Jon hadn’t lost his head, more Stark loyalists might have survived.

She knew what had to be done but she wasn’t 100% sure if the Vale would actually come and she didn’t know how Jon would feel about her speaking to LF plus if the surprise attack didn’t happen the battle may have ended completely different

+ImpulseGod Yes, exactly, which is why she should have told Jon to hold back. If the Vale did show up, Jon would have some major new pieces to move around in preparation for the battle. If they didn't show up, then they would have been back to square one. Literally, there was no tactically negative outcome of Sansa telling Jon. More information will always be a benefit on the battlefield and in war in general.

I disagree. The way they have Tyrion launching into the story of the mad king's plans for King's landing, that was definate foreshadowing. They were definately setting something up there. As for the rage, well, she was angry then too.

Since season 1 Dany killed people with fire. This episode showed clearly how far she would go... Nonetheless all Dany-Fans said they did Dany dirty... but the way was clear since the beginning.

I’m here for the dragon action!! That’s why I love BoB so much. This is the episode in which GoT pushed all the boundaries and became something beyond TV... Just watch the detail in the dragons, how the fly, the landscape, it looks absolutely real! You should watch the behind the scenes. There the director explains how he got inspiration from WWII airplanes when filming the dragon scenes and making the VFX.
