It doesn't make sense for Arya to criticize Sansa for "going along" with the Lannisters to survive. Because Arya "went along" by being Twyin's cupbearer to survive.

@Melly Reed not only did she lied to save joffrey's honour which got lady and the butcher's boy killed, but she was actually mad at ned and arya for all of it the rest of the season, and she went right into cersei's lap, all of this because she wanted to marry the pretty eyed prince. she was absolutely fine with all the stark people in kings landing getting butchered and ned taking the black as long as she could be queen. then ned gets beheaded, she finally sees joffrey for what he is, but doesn't have the guts to kill him and herself, and she spends the rest of the show until lysa arryn's death being an obedient puppet for every bigger player in the game of thrones. pisses me off how easy people forget what a piece of dirt she was, but the worst is how people give her credit for absolutely no reason and seem to think she's now a mix between cersei and littlefinger when she did NOTHING especially smart even after lysa's death besides lying to the lords of the vale, which was a no brainer.

well technically the wight polar bear WAS responsible for a "major" character death, that being Thoros, just took a little while for it to truly take affect. like getting a gunshot to the belly, w/o medical intervention you're most certainly a goner, but it's gonna take awhile. But nah I hear ya, they were a little bit inconsistent with the visual representation of the inclusion of all their red shirts.

Here is a review on IMDB that I think sums this episode up perfectly - 7/10 | Henry Aldridge | 21 Aug 2017 I am not trying to be a hater of the show. I am a HUGE fan of Game of Thrones. I really am. I just feel let down by this latest season. The acting has been amazing and I have thoroughly been entertained, as usual, but the writing... it's just not the same. Season 7 Episode 6: 'Beyond the Wall' The Good: - Long episode! 68 minutes! - Very entertaining scenes beyond the Wall. The action and fighting scenes were very well done and were engaging. The quality of the sequences and visual effects was very good, as usual. - Amusing dialogue between the seven venturing beyond the Wall. I especially liked Tormund and the Hound's conversation. -Awesome game changer and cliffhanger at the end which gave me the chills. The Bad: - Way too cliché for Game of Thrones. This is what upsets me the most about this episode and season. Daenerys swoops in on her dragons at just the right moment to save Jon and his team. The same goes for Benjen rescuing Jon. If this was a normal movie, David and Dan could get away with it. But it's not. When has Game of Thrones ever been this cliché, or predictable? - There doesn't seem to be any actual threat towards the main characters anymore. There is too much plot armour. Things go too well for the main characters, and they manage to get out of every situation. That's not the Game of Thrones I remember. In season 1, Ned lost his head. In season 3 Catelyn and Robb were butchered. In season 4 Oberyn's skull was smashed. I'm not saying I think Jon - or any other characters in particular - should die, I am just saying they shouldn't be in so many potentially fatal situations and then get themselves out of it. It's way too anti-climatic. When Jon fell in the frozen lake, he should have drowned, or it shouldn't have been written that he fell in the lake in the first place! The same goes for Jaime and Bronn in episode 4; they should have been taken prisoner by Dany. It just makes the plot more interesting. - Arya and Sansa's dispute. I like the idea of Arya and Sansa having their own civil war however I think this has been written quite badly - it has turned Arya from a really cool character to a rather annoying, dumb little girl. There has to be a better way for Arya and Sansa to not get along. I want to be able to say 'it was an easy mistake' to Arya for going against Sansa, but with this plot line I can't because Arya is just being a little thoughtless. - Scale of time. This part of season 7 doesn't really bother me too much, and I guess it could be considered 'nitpicking'. However, in this episode, I was a bit sceptical. Gendry ran around 50 miles in 6-8 hours? That's 6mph for 8 hours, in the subzero temperatures, over hills etc. A raven then from Eastwatch to Dragonstone would take a few days - it's literally over 1000 miles away! Followed by Daenerys flying which would take probably a day on her dragons. Sure, it may have been 3 and half days between Jon and co ending up on that island and Dany arriving. But it wasn't portrayed like that. Here is my response to some other criticism for this episode, trying to counter it: - The army of wights not attacking Jon and co until Dany arrived was not coincidence or stupidity on the Night King's behalf. The Night King knew Dany would come. He wanted her to come so he could add a dragon or two to his arsenal. But how did he know about Dany? Well, this episode as a result reveals that the Night King has powers similar to Bran. - I am going to guess that the Night King got that big chain of his from outside an abandoned castle on the Wall. As we saw in season 4 episode 9, a massive blade was attached by a chain to the top of the Wall and was used to take out wildlings scaling the Wall. - Dany probably chose not to accompany the Jon and co to the Wall in the first place because she likely underestimated the army of the dead. JUST THINK of, let's say, season 4 of Game of Thrones. Remember? Joffrey, Tyrion's trial, Tywin, Oberyn, Cersei scheming... all that. Now think of season 7 of Game of Thrones. Personally, I am surprised by how different it is. I know season 7 is near the end game and of course it is largely war, but it just feels different. I hope the finale and the final season will impress me like Game of Thrones always used to. Don't hate on me for thinking about the story a bit more than you are.

Look at the 2nd spear throw: That 2nd spear changes its trajectory mid-flight. At first it seems to go for Drogo's wing but shortly before impact it changes its path towards Dany. @scorp737 жыл бұрын
Meng Jue Ever tried what happens when you pour cold water into burning oil?? Answer: Kabboooom. (very bad idea, don't try it!!!) So... so that dragon is breathing fire, maybe he has some kind of "napalm reservoir" in his body and a "reaction chamber" in his throat where the mixture gets ignited, similar to e.g. rocket engines. So there's this super hot pressurized liquid that the dragon is squeezing out and then a very very cold ice-spear hits that very place... I don't find it hard to imagine that the ice instantly turns into vapor, and thus instantly expands violently, causing the fiery explosion we see. As I said: pouring water into burning oil (or fuel) has the very same bad effect... so why not on dragons too.
@JinzoTK7 жыл бұрын
its probably all the fire inside the Dragons. If you look whenever they breathe fire the igniter (spark whatever you want to call it) comes from within. So when the spear hit, the dragon's inner fire went out of control and boom. White Walker weapons are magical. Remeber they break most weapons on contact and a ballista hurt Drogon episode 4. So what is a magic spear gonna do.

And I also think Arya's character is written to be smart enough to see that Sansa is doing the right things now, it would be silly to lead her other way without a better excuse than just "I'm the vengeful and irrational Arya now and everything that isn't chopping enemy's heads is betraying the family".

You wouldn't call this the worst penultimate episode of a season so far?? Lemme remind you what has happened in all the others. Ned lost his head, Battle of the Blackwater, the Red Wedding, the battle at the wall, Shireen's death and Daenerys's showdown in Mereen with her dragons, and The Battle of the Bastards. In other words, without a doubt some of the best episodes of the entire series. This was FAR AND AWAY the weakest penultimate episode and if I'm being honest, one of the worst episodes of the ENTIRE SERIES. This whole season has been like some weird fan fiction. Season 6 was amazing despite no longer going off the books, what the hell happened??
@oliviercolletaz58415 жыл бұрын
i guess that if you brush aside - how insanely stupid the whole "lets go get a white for cersei" mission is - how un-GoT it is to form this kind of super squad for a mission - the horribly written plot going on at winterfell - the flat out ridiculous stuff like sending gendry back running to the wall and somehow making it in time to send a crow to daenerys so she can dragon ex machina at the end of the episode - how one white doesn't die when they kill the walker and every other dead they're fighting explodes - how the night king is right in front of drogon with everybody on his back but throws his spear to the flying dragon behind them for no reason - how jon doesn't get on drogon for no reason - the (horribly executed) uncle benjen ex machina - how daenerys loses a son but is absolutely fine because her crush she met two weeks ago survived.. then maybe it's not the absolute worst penultimate episode of a GoT season ever,
@SoulDevoured5 жыл бұрын
I think they're trying too hard to drive plot rather than focus on the gritty details of The story as George would have done. It also becomes harder the further away from the books they get because there is so many fine plot details they're skirting around. If you're writing a sequel of an intricate series the further in the future you go the harder it is to imagine where the original author was going.
@kevinw7125 жыл бұрын
Well you could perhaps make the argument that it was the weakest of all the penultimate episodes so far in the series -- but not an OBJECTIVELY BAD episode. It's more just speaking to how incredible the others were, I mean anytime you compile a list because you have more than one of something, by definition one of those things is going to be "last/worst". But also, those that have still gone on all this time (you made this post about a year before my reply here, near the end of March 2019) about how "bad" season 7 has been, the structuring, the pacing, the supposed 'fan servicing'. It just more seems the inevitable, natural progression of the story. We're getting to the end here. More people who were more just smaller side characters are being sifted out, as it were, there's less overall key people and major threads are converging more and more so of course there will be a greater amount of established characters being grouped together. Including ones that had never happened before.

Blood loss, exhaustion, alcohol, and shock. Even with a fire, you've only mitigated one of four individually lethal factors, especially in an arctic environment. Additionally, what fuel did they have to create a fire? Weren't any trees in the area and I doubt they brought much if any wood with them, as that becomes a ludicrous weight to carry, especially with the fur sacks they had. So Thoros was definitely fucked the second he became that bear's chew toy. Unless they were packing blood bags, Gatorade, and a fuckload of bread, there was nothing they could do to help him.

Within the novels, wildfire. In the show, magic presumably. However this does not address Thoros' problem, His blood pressure would have dropped dramatically, and the alcohol would have stressed his liver beyond reason. Additionally a fire would not have been enough to keep his internal temperature high enough to live through the night. Also after the Wight's clothing is burned to ash what other fuel do you have?

The contrived anger and forced tension between Sansa and Arya is bothersome to the degree that it's unnecessary. Sansa taking extra credit for the BotB was sort of bs. Jon wouldn't have been in the position to loose if the Knights of the Vale weren't hanging back waiting.

Sansa saying she won the battle of the bastards is BS, she din't win the battle she made thousands of Jon's soldiers die for nothing. Had she told Jon about the coming army he would of waited for them and maybe prepare an ambush/trap for the boltons.

It's only contrived because it's contrived in-universe. They're putting on a show to embolden Littlefinger to get between them. Watch all these episodes again from when Arya arrives in Winterfell. Notice where they're having their arguments. Notice who is questioning Sansa's leadership. Notice who sees Littlefinger pay off servants. Notice when Sansa sends Brienne away, and how loud she is with an open door. It annoys us because Arya is acting completely out of character. Littlefinger doesn't know Arya's character, and she's portraying a careless braggart that's challenging Sansa on purpose. Littlefinger buys it. They need him to incriminate himself because "I am a tree and chaos is a ladder" isn't exactly compelling evidence against the de facto Lord of the Vale.
@obakpolor857 жыл бұрын
Estri Estrazi Please, think this through, Jon's army and the Knights of the Vale would destroy Ramsey Army in that field No doubt. I know it and you know it and do you know who else would know? Ramsey Bolton. He wouldn't meet them in open battle if they had the numbers and forced them to siege the castle, they wouldn't of had the men for a siege, the resources they would have all ended up dead. It is true that Sands did not single handedly win the battle of the bastards and nor did Jon. They did it together. Without the other they surely would have perished. Without the sacrafices of many men they surely would have perished. Don't argue about who had a bigger role they did it together as Starks, not individuals
@simonsp927 жыл бұрын
I agreed with you up until you said Jon won the battle together with Sansa. Jon did nothing notewrothy in the battle, he didn't even lead, that was mostly Davos. There's 3 factors that ensured Jon's victory. 1. Sansa Getting the knights of the vale. 2. Davos acting quick and ordering the attack when Jon charges. 3. Wunwun smashing down the gate avoiding a month long siege. If anything Jon almost lost them the battle, because of his honor.

I'd just like to point out that the wights were falling a lot faster than season 1 because all the weapons they were using at the battle at the lake were made with the Dragonglass that was mined from Dragonstone. Check the scenes again, even the Hound throws down Gendry's hammer for Dragonglass knives he had in his coat!

Night's King I don't see it as a continuity problem. Before this episode we had not seen the effects of Dragonglass on wights simply because weapons being made of Dragonglass has been out of style for thousands of years. And if it's strong enough to kill/destroy White Walkers, why wouldn't it work on the wights, which are created by the White Walkers? We see they are connected when John kills one and most of the wights with him just disintegrate, they're closely connected on a magical level. What works against the greater magic must then work on the lesser magic, IMO.
@TheNinetySecond7 жыл бұрын
Either the show has done a *major* fuck up of not telling us that the canon has changed to mean the exact opposite of what was established early in season 1, and has been adhered to since then, or the dragon glass doesn't have any effect on the wights. I am gonna check the scenes again, to see if that was maybe their intention, but having such a dramatic shift in knowledge about these weapons being totally glossed over is a fuck up of monumental proportions. I don't think D&D, HBO, or any of the incredibly talented people working on this show would fuck up that bad.
@Zenene-ok5el7 жыл бұрын
+Spotted Gaymer Actually, we have. Jon fought a wight with Longclaw (Valyrian steel) back in Hardhome, and it had no lasting effects (the wight kept fighting). Also, at least in the books, regular steel, valyrian and dragonglass have all been used against wights, with no results. Only fire can kill a wight, or at least it did, until this episode broke all reasonable continuity.

My brother and I have been talking about this. The thing between Arya and Sansa actually started with Bran when he gave the dagger to Arya. Bran hinted it at Arya that she will use it on someone. So Arya started spying on Petyr, and as you said she is the smartest Stark. She's not antagonizing Sansa coz she believed the letter or that Petyr's plans are working. Arya 's acting that way, sort of scaring Sansa and playing her, coz she wants Sansa to figure it out. Exactly why she handed her the dagger in the end. It's like Arya's saying, there's a real danger here and it's not me take this dagger and take him out. Arya being creepy and threatening towards Sansa , she's also saying like, I'm an assassin and I can take you out without anyone noticing, wear your face, but I haven't done it.. @Notchlings7 жыл бұрын
The reason we say the writing is shit is because people are doing stupid shit e.g white walker aiming for viserion not drogon; not taking the wildling killed by the bear as a Wight to cersei as proof; benjen not getting on that fucking horse. Furthermore the actual dialogue between characters can be awful e.g suddenly creepy out of character stupid arya. I would also like to see more emotional impact from some moments in the episode, like when Jon saw benjen for the first time in years, a man who is supposed to be his childhood hero, and the entire conversation is "uncle benjen come with me". Boring. Also Thoros's death had no impact on the story. I would have liked to have seen some real emotion from his old friend Berric, or even words from the hound to demonstrate how his time with the brotherhood has developed him as a person. Instead he just continues to drink wine. No development. This is all crap writing.

Good grief! just because the guy attacked and killed by the bear/wight died north of the wall does not make him a wight. It is also NOT like walking dead where a bite turns you. @TheNewsDepot7 жыл бұрын
As to the Wights dying so easily...The team had dragon glass and a Valyrian sword, both which disspell the magic animating Wights. That's why they had so much trouble with the bear before it was spiked with some dragon glass. If you watch it again, you'll see the difference from when a normal weapon hits a Wight, doing physical (or fire) damage, but not really taking them down and then when they are struck with Jon's Valyrian blade or dragon glass, they go down in one hit or blow apart in the case of Wights that are mostly just a skeleton.

I just found it stupid how Jon kept fighting even when the coast was clear. He had an opportunity to get on the dragon and possibly get out with all three dragons. Instead he continued to "hold them back" or whatever unnecessarily. I suppose they had to figure out how to give the white walkers a dragon, but it could have been done better.
@MysteriousMrL7 жыл бұрын
It was a very forced scenario, just like Jaime's cliffhanger two episodes ago. In both of these cases they could've told the story just as well without a manufactured fake out possible death. Jon just as easily could've hopped on Drogon and the only difference would've been no Benjen showing up just to die and Jon wouldn't have been in such bad shape.
@Who-Uhm-Cares7 жыл бұрын
subseven I agree although that scene was badass. I felt like they shouldn't of put Jon so far from Drogon. If he was a bit closer it Wouldn't of looked like he was on some suicide mission.

Yeah, it makes no sense that he was just drifting further and further away. Super forced.

I expected Rhaegal to be Jon's ticket out of there too. That Uncle Benjen ex-machina moment was totally out of nowhere and only served for him to be killed(?) off again. But hey, whatever polishes Jon's plot armor best I guess. And I hate the tension between Arya and Sansa right now; Arya's character in this entire episode felt exceedingly off. All that aside though I really liked this episode
@harrisont20046 жыл бұрын
I thought the Benjen bit was by far the dumbest. “GO! THERE’S NO TIME!” About thirty seconds later the white walkers get there. Come on Benjen, you had ages! It was like some cheesy Hollywood movie, if they wanted his to die couldn’t he have said, “please, I’ve lived too long for this world,” or something crazy like that?

cmon guys... the Arya/Sansa conflict is fake.. they are setting up Littlefinger. It became obvious to me when Sansa sent Brienne away
@MysteriousMrL7 жыл бұрын
I really hope this is the case because I'm finding this plot insufferable to watch. That's the only thing that would salvage it for me. What I'm hoping is that Sansa reciting the "Lone wolf dies, but the pack survives" speech is what she tells Littlefinger right before he dies, revealing that she, Arya, and Bran have been onto his game the entire time.
@Kieranm5137 жыл бұрын
Smarmee yeah but weren't sansa and littlefinger plotting to eliminate arya? Like thats what littlefinger was hinting at in his scene with sansa in this episode right? So dont you think sending brienne away is so that Brienne then wont be around to protect arya (since she is sworn to protect both sansa AND arya). So it seems more likely that Sansa will side with littlefinger and try to get rid of arya possibly. But of course if that is the case it all becomes totally ridiculous because Bran can see everything that happens in the entire universe, so why the fuck doesn't he just tell sansa and arya that littlefinger is manipulating them? Thus ending all the infighting
@tiggerpup_nz7 жыл бұрын
Sansa will not side with Littlefinger. She has said time and time again she doesn't trust him. He taught her how to play the game, how to manipulate people. He told her to think of every scenario and plan for it. Right now, Sansa is out manipulating Littlefinger. She is no longer a tool of anyone else... ESPECIALLY Littlefinger. It will be the most apt way for Littlefinger to perish.

@NutsinBrazil7 жыл бұрын
Tiggerpup Sansa might try to use Little Finger, but right now I hate to admit but he's playing both Sansa and Aria like a fiddle - and that's one more reason I don't like this episode. Sansa and Aria have been living in Winterfell for weeks, maybe months now, and they still have not discussed their traumatic experiences? People say they don't want to see endless traveling, but Jon could have bonded with Jorah and offered to return Longclaw on the boat. Then at least he could have picked another sword. But in the middle of the wilderness? Just stupid.

The problem I've only just realised with this season, and especially this episode, is that everything is very predictable now. The ice dragon and John resurfacing are prime examples of this, it's similar now to problems with Bond films where it's hard to enjoy when you virtually know the outcome.

James Blackwater Cersei will pretend to parlay with Team Dany but betray them. Little finger will die in a stupid way some how. I can feel they are going to do it as the major death this season. If you think D&D is capable of writing at the level of a GRR Martin, maybe you're overestimating their capabilities or underestimating GRR. I think they are doing a great job for the most part of keeping this train on the rails while not having the source material to pull from.
@vasileiosvan68167 жыл бұрын
we all loved this show not for the dragons and direwolves alone but for the dialogues and the schemes....those came from GRR Martin not DD so i definitely agree with you. Tyrion the master of that has disappeared the last couple seasons...varys little finger.... nothing epic...what they are doing well is the dragon stuff and thats all. what we have all liked about this season is the action and just the action.what made game of thrones what it is now its absent
@mrs.gerrard56917 жыл бұрын
James Robinson my thoughts exactly. Martin would've write amazing dialogue in all the time they are skipping. Like on a boat, great dialogue between Jorah and Jon, but D&D or other writers can't do that, still it's really fun to watch. And I have the feeling that a huge part of the next books are gonna be packed with action. I mean, they have to fight the white walkers at some point right???
@davidrich277 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I saw the quality drop coming, but Jesus I feel like they could've scoured the Reddit forums for better fanfic writers than this. The dialogue is so clunky. Honestly, I don't mind the time skips for travel if that is truly what it is. But if you look at age touchstones like Gilly's baby, or the fact that Gendry ran all the way back to the wall and sent a raven halfway across the continent while they sat surrounded on a frozen lake, it's clear they don't give a damn about internal consistency or sense of time and distance. I just thought that at least one or two of their writing staff would be fans of the novels and bring up these things. And the dialogue is so clunky.
@cooper7127 жыл бұрын
James Robinson I agree, this episode in particular just had some major issues
@themightymcb73107 жыл бұрын
David Rich The whole group wasn't very far from the wall at all. Gendry took a few hours to get back to the wall, tops, which fits given that the army of the dead was at hardhome 2 full seasons ago. Also, have you seen a map of Westeros before? Dragonstone isn't very far from Eastwatch, or the north in general. I think given that ravens and dragons can fly at a half decent speed, it's highly likely that this whole episode only took 2ish days start to finish

I mean and they said Rey from Star Wars was freaking OP this guy is the most Gary Stu bad guy there is and now he can also see tthe future and predict everything that happens? RH Gamer exactly my thoughts. All the scenes from arya adds up and this theory really makes sense. First, we see how arya was looking at littlefinger when they 1st met, it's as if she can tell he's a rotten egg inside. 2nd did you see how arya vanished when the guards turn their back for a few seconds? How could a person with that caution would get seen by a normal dude so easily? Unless she was pretending to take the bait and wanted to be seen including unlocking the chamber door. 3rd the final scene where she turns the dagger around to Sansa I think it's a signal for im on your side?

I'm thinking one of 2 things is going to happen 1 arya is going to kill him with some cheesy line or arya is going to get hurt and sansa is going to have to kill him with his own dagger and he will say something epic like johns not your brother or some secret. than there going to fight the knights of the V-ale IDK how to spell it

This season is the first half of the Third Act in this story. The Third Act is always faster and focused more on results and action. This season is dispensing with some of the more detailed political and philosophical commentary and themes in favour of spectacle and action. Personally there were expositional and slow parts in every season I could've done without and honestly the stuff that people have called fan service or cheesy has just been fun for me and I've been enjoying every single episode. Also I'm kind of tired of hearing people (not directing this at Nerd Soup) act as though every success the writers have had has been an extension of GRRM's masterful ability and that GRRM is incapable of writing some stupid stuff. Plenty of changes from the books have improved the story hugely.

I think the bonding was necessary/human and gave a lot of great moments. These men had a more than likely chance that they would die, even if they didn't say it aloud they were aware. With this bonding each man gave a sentence or two epilogue that summarized their character, this plays with a viewers psychology, questioning if that would be their final scene. Also about Arya she is playing everyone! She's playing Little finger and she's playing the viewers! The Bravos actors had a good influence on her, and how she plays the game! She will take little finger by surprise and is testing Sanaa's loyalties to see if she is still a Stark! Don't be surprised if there's some off screen things going on that are revealed later. Arya will kill Little finger with Sansas consent!

The problem with Arya's behaviour is that it's somewhere between a regression and a Flanderisation; it's both playing on her being vicious and her not knowing how the world works, without factoring in what's she has been through. Unless this is Ayra's way of luring out Littlefinger's true intentions, it doesn't make sense for her to act like this towards Sansa despite the two of them never getting along. Hell in the middle of all this is Brann, a sibling she did get along with, who could probably just tell her some of what Sansa went through and who Ayra probably does want to talk to.

I'm pretty sure that it was established that Sansa wasn't sure that the knights of the Vale would ride for her. It would have been pretty shit of her to say "Hey jon, btw we've got a whole army coming" and then getting stood up.
@blackkatt7776 жыл бұрын
Actually she did receive a message back telling her that they are close and waiting for her command. She wanted Jon to fail and die, so that she could be seen as the hero. Notice her face drop when Jon climbed out of the pit? If she didn't know that she had the Vale army then why was she so cocky by telling Ramsey he's gonna die tomorrow and to sleep well? Sansa and Arya's fight was real. She was really nervous about what the Vale might do if they knew about it. In the books, Sansa didn't want to leave King's landing when Ned was sending them home for protection. She wanted to be with Joffrey so much that she went behind his back and told Cersei. Cersei just had the incest talk with Ned in which he gave her a chance to take her children and flee. He knew Robert's wrathful temper, but still wanted to watch out for his friend at the same time. Cersei knew she had to act fast before they were gone. She had Joffrey arrest Ned for treason, and in the end Ned died. Sansa was offered a way out of King's Landing 3 times and each time she stayed all the still playing the damsel in distress. Sansa may have been through some things, but her family suffered even more...and also death. The survivors evolved and became something amazing. She was still leaning on others to get what she wanted. She never tried recuing herself. Had Bran(who can see past and present and some up coming events) and Arya(magically gifted assassin) hadn't come home and revealed their abilities, Sansa would have plotted with little finger to take Jon down. She begged Jon to take back Winterfell. Bitched at him when he didn't have a bigger army but left him out the loop when more were coming. She thought she was an untouchable until she saw her sister match Brienne. After little finger spoke to her about Arya, she was still unsure of what to do so she went to Bran to get details before finally setting up Peytr with them. She is the weakest link, which means she'll live because Arya will probably be brave and save her, dying in the process.

It is SUPER cliche and I really hate two characters committing incest unknowingly. Having Ice and Fire get married is a "Disney princess" level of cheesiness that I didn't think Game of Thrones was capable of. "I didn't like Daario much at all but if he magically came back and distracted Dany long enough for Bran to tell Jon about his mother I would not complain! It'll never happen sadly. Shame cause to me it's a better story to have an an admiration/courtly love kind of thing going on without sex. Lot's more tension, will they/they won't, etc. Plus if the Northerners find out he bent the knee AND started sleeping with the enemy it's gonna be "Queen Sansa" all the way.

SB 50cal -What's with all the ppl being a buzzkill about their romance? Particularly because their family has a history of passionate romances, it should be expected. They're some of the loneliest characters in the series, God forbid they find love.

SB 50cal it won't happen... You know how nothing is accidental in the show? When daavos teases Jon about checking out danys "heart" Jon says "there's no time for that.... I think that's a little inside joke from the writer's desk

Euron could also be the third rider, if he obtains, or is already secretly in possession of the horn, Dragonbinder, and uses it to take the ice dragon from the Night King. I would say that this isn't likely so far in the series, except for the fact that it's a great call back to the drowned god prophecy that was just mentioned by the Maesters. Viserion going underwater is the biggest hint for that.
@trickznmix7 жыл бұрын
GoT has definitely lost its edge, and is playing out like a Hollywood blockbuster... gone are the days of shock, horror, intensity, and increased heart rates, now its pretty linear and predictable. I remember wanting nothing more than the Viper to destroy the mountain, or waiting literally years to see Ramsay get justice... these moments were intense and shocking/satisfying. I dont think we will be seeing that anymore, but with only one season to go, its not necessarily a bad thing because its been a pretty dark road, its just sad to see it all fizzle out and flat line before the end of what has been the most amazing television show ever.
@maxpendlebury12677 жыл бұрын
All these comments complaining about the season, I've enjoyed this season a lot. When people complain about the lack of politics II just think that this is the natural development of the show, the entire show has been building up to these moments. Also the plot armour point, game of thrones was known for killing main characters, but the series is ending soon, you can't kill the main every main character before the last season. It's not even criticism it's just 'the books are so much better this is shit', like reading a book makes you better than people that watch the show.

I personally read the Sansa - Arya scenes as Arya intentionally creating conflict between them in order to make littefinger show his hand, his intentions, showing sansa that Littlefinger will eventually try to divide them. If you have this thought in the back of your mind when watching all of arya's scenes make so much more sense. Even the stilted dialouge can be explained as Arya trying to stealthily convey this to Sansa, like when Sansa finds her bag of faces.

I think you guys might of missed them fighting with dragon glass, that's why the wights went down so much easier. At the start of the battle the hound smashed in the head of that wight with that huge Warhammer and it kept coming so he threw down the Warhammer and picked up a couple dragon glass knives instead.
@Zenene-ok5el7 жыл бұрын
Dragonglass shouldn't affect wights, though. It shatters easily, and leaves no lasting effects, or at least it didn't, until this episode came through and ruined all continuity.
@TheNinetySecond7 жыл бұрын
I'd never heard of dragon glass affecting wights before this ep. I checked the wikia, and it says that dragon glass affects wights in the same way it does WWs, but I can not for the life of me, think of a scene that explains this. It would've been a big talking point too, since it's been established for a long time, that dragon glass can't hurt wights.
@m0zric7 жыл бұрын
It hasn't been established in the show, though? I would assume dragonglass doesn't affect the Wights per se, but disrubts the magic connecting the WW's will to the wights.
@GushChew6 жыл бұрын
@@Zenene-ok5el the only time dragonglass was used against a wight it failed because it had chainmail on and the glass shattered, but when Jon is giving his demonstration in the dragonpit to cersei he states Valyrian steel dragonglass or fire is how you stop wights permanently, then he stabs it with dragonglass to kill it after the hound hacks it up to prove its really undead

They wights were easier to kill here since they were all armed with Dragon Glass (except Jon with Valyrian Steel & Gendry/the Hound with the War Hammer) also they didn’t need to swim to Viserion, just drop down as dead weight with the chains. It’s not like they would feel bad about leaving some corpses down there if necessary.

I don't understand why the writers didn't dedicate an entire episode to a flashback. A show called Utopia did this and it was amazing! Wouldn't have to pay enormous amounts for the main actors for an episode plus who wouldn't want to see the Tourney in Harrenhal! the thing that led to the events of Game of Thrones!

An sort or theory: Knowing the game of thrones series, what makes is strong is the moment that aren't good versus bad. But the moments where both sides are liked. So why would they change that the final season. So I think that during the final episode/season we will see the side the whites are fighting for, their reasons and intentions. Convincing the viewer that the whites are actually good guys. Which is why they don't seem to actually make an real powerful attempt in murdering jon. - maybe Melisandre did something - maybe it's to do with them not getting children sacrifices - maybe they need their help, i don't know... the book readers may have better suggestions
@BoredTiredAndCranky7 жыл бұрын
I agree that we will eventually see something that makes us rethink the White Walkers. There isn't much in the book that hints at anything, my opinion is just based on the same things yours is - this story is never simply about good vs evil. There are ideas that the WW aren't really going after people, but are instead trying to march south to the God's Eye where the last of the Children might be hiding. But that's pure speculation.
@iSOBigD7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm 99.9% sure the white walkers aren't just mindless evil people, since everyone else on the show isn't all good or all bad. Also, who else could have built the wall? Maybe someone broke their old truce and they're coming to get even.
@pogchamp28977 жыл бұрын
in the very east of essos beyound Asshai-by-the-shadow there is an awefull god (R'hllor) that control shadows and demoniac demons go to google and check A song of ice and fire detailed map and u'll see how the whole world is between a fire shadow demon and an ice demon .... dragons are originated from those lands btw, and since Asshai is a wicked place that has no children only handreds of years old ppl changing their appearance by magic just like melissandre since she's from Asshai, so there is fucked up things that lurk in those shadow lands, maybe WW are trying to fight those things or defend themselves against that threat ..... and maybe i'm just forcing my brain into pointless theories, who knows anyway that could happends in GRRM story since he said he may make 2 other books that he didn't decide their names to follow the story after the final named book which is the 7 ("A Hope For Spring" that will come after "Winds of Winter") but not in th show, they decided that night king is evil and one demontional villain and the show will end after season 8 finale
@iSOBigD7 жыл бұрын
That would be too bad. I like the idea that there is a reason for the white walkers moving in and building an army after so many years, and they did show the red witch being super old at one point, and they had a smoke monster that was casually not seen again. If those scenes become useless then that's just stupid.

I love this channel. I've never had a problem with anything y'all have said, but..... Assessment of Arya is bullshit. Her angle is that Sansa has never once risked her safety to benefit anyone but herself. Sansa ALLOWED the Battle of the Bastards to be lost so she could claim credit for..... sitting on a horse far away while the Knights of the Vale fucked the Boloton Army's shit. Had she TOLD Jon she had them in her back pocket, he would have put them to use. But no, Sansa wouldn't have gotten credit if it had happened that way. Arya has gone into fights she had slim chances of surviving, repeatedly, because she knew what she had to do. Sansa has done nothing *for her House,* and Arya gives no participation trophies for allowing yourself to repeatedly get used, raped, and generally manipulated to everyone else's will for the sake of nothing but staying alive.
@maggots00077 жыл бұрын
Yes, Jon lost the Battle of the Bastards. Yes, Sansa won the War with the Knights of the Vale but Sansa would've never had the chance without Jon and the Men that fought for him. Sansa is full of shit right now with this "High and Mighty" mentality, willing to stab Jon in the back, telling Arya she should be on her knees thanking her, I don't understand how anyone sides with her.
@Who-Uhm-Cares7 жыл бұрын
maggots0007 I agree. It was Jon that allowed her Knights of the vale to win. His army already took out half of Ramsey's army.
@braemtes237 жыл бұрын
Frankly, it was WunWun who won the Battle of the Bastards. Winterfell was impregnable as was stated several times in previous seasons. The KotV finished off most of Ramsey's men, but Ramsey was safe inside Winterfell and was untouchable. If WunWun had not broken down the door to Winterfell, the Knights of the Vale would have been sitting outside the walls until they were overrun by wights. Stannis was considered a great military leader and he was undone outside the walls of Winterfell. Ultimately, WunWun was there for Jon and if not for him, Winterfell would still be Ramsey's despite the KotV's help.
@santtannarivera71057 жыл бұрын
maggots0007 To be fair, without Sansa pushing for Jon to retake Winterfell, Ramsay would still hold it. She had a good reason to shoot back at Arya like that, she has no idea the psychological and physical torture she endured from Joffrey and Ramsay. I get where she's coming from, even if she has the desire to rule Winterfell and the North, it's all about not acting on that desire. Say what you want about Sansa, but she's the character who's gone through the most since season one.
@calebhorton47017 жыл бұрын
maggots0007 I'm not on Sans'a side, but she is definitely more rational than Arya. Arya seems to have lost her brain all the way back in season 4.
@vexced87537 жыл бұрын
That's not how that works tho fam. The vale knights should've been like "hey fam this bastard is pretty bad at war, let's follow the person we have a reason to follow who is true born related to our lord, former regent, and liked by our current regent." Then they would've just conquered and occupied winterfell for Sansa if she liked
@danbrueckman59485 жыл бұрын
Guys. Battle for Winterfell WILL be episode 3. Miguel Sapochnik is directing (Hardhome, Battle of the Bastards). There will be a smaller battle in the south in episode 5 when again, Miguel Sapochnik directs.
@ericak23527 жыл бұрын
The reason Sansa/Knights of Vale 'won' Winterfell is that they let the Northern Army go in first, thin Ramsey's troops and serve as bait/decoy. Sacrificing thousand of northerners in order to set up the Vale knights and doing it secretly so that 'her' army could feel like the victor is not something to feel proud about or brag about. And it doesnt make the victory hers. Let's see what the Knights of the Vale could have done on their own...
