To be fair seeing Dorne was a kick in the teeth remembering how the show raped it's entire plotline. Still... at that point in the episode we didn't know Sam was Grand Maester. So I was more confused why the FUCK Arya (unlanded), Sam (Technically a Tarly but not even Paramount of the Reach), Davos (Literally useless) and Brienne (heir to Tarth?) were even there to get a vote on the future monarch. The only three there with legitimate landed, established and relevant houses were the Tulley, Yara, Sansa and Dornish NPC and Vale bloke whose name I forget. They just let Tyrion decide and Greyworm's like fine fuck it but I'm exiling John without a discussion and ya'll got to deal with it since we don't have budget for this scene! Oh and Sansa declared Northern independence so that's literally 4/6 of the remaining kingdoms got a vote if we count the bloke from the Vale.

The very first lesson we learn in GOT was: "He who passes the sentence should swing the sword". Daenerys never does this but surely passes the most sentences throughout the series. She was a liberator in Essos but always came to Westeros as a conqueror, with a vendetta. With birthright entitlement, not anything moral really.

I wrote a plot line idea on how Episode 5 could have saved D and D from a major failure. Before I reveal this plot line...let me first address an alternate idea for episode 3, which would have also made episodes 4 and 5 less forced. I really feel that the White Walkers should have advanced on King’s Landing instead of Winterfell...which would have been a big move for the Night King...who must have known the Northerners were waiting with dragon stone and fire dragons. King’s Landing would have gone down easily and produced a much larger force of undead soldiers to attack Winterfell. Night King should have sent a small battalion to Winterfell with the guise of attack...then laid siege to the castle...while the other army advanced South...gaining new castles and soldiers along the way. By time Winterfell figured out the plan....they would only be able to be a relief to the devastation at King’s Landing...which would have left the Red Keep as the last place standing. This also could have provided a plot line where the city becomes White Walkers and must be destroyed by Drogon and the still living Rhaegel’s fire. Also, this would make the Scorpion weapons mostly depleted on the White Dragon...who also then could destroy many of them...or the White Dragon could attack Euron’s fleet...and destroy it. With King’s Landing people being converted to the NK's dead army...the streets in chaos...Cercie's evil would further as she keeps her gate's closed to the masses crying for help. Episode 3 would then make full sense as the Night King would be the main climax...but mostly a great satisfaction would come with Cercie getting payback for her deceit and non support of Winterfell. Eventually, the Night King and White Dragon torch the Red Keep...and it becomes mostly destroyed. The North defeats the siege army and their general...and marches to assist King’s Landing...but the devastation has already happened across the Countryside. As the armies reach King’s Landing, the trepenots could now be properly used...and placed to shoot fireballs into the city. Also, The Dothraki can still credibly be alive and charge an attack through the city...along with the Unsullied moving in behind them. Drogon torches the city with Dany...destroying all the White Walkers they can, while a confrontation of Dragon verses Dragon occurs with John and the Nightking. John is knocked off his Dragon onto the ground and as the Night King swoops down for a final blow...Misandre steps in and cast a strange fire blocking spell...Drogon swoops across and hits the dragon and the NK. Sir Davos arrives to the scene to assist. The NK now falls and John races to him. A sword fight ensues and Misandre again tries to cast another spell...and the NK throws his spear and pierces her...John acts quickly and attacks the NK...defeating and killing him. The savior fulfills prophecy. Sir Davos hovers over Misandre and wants to slay her...but John thanks her and he cannot. Misandre has fulfilled her destiny and takes off her necklace...withering to death. Dany does destroy King’s Landing, but not as a mad woman...but a hero. Many plotlines develop within this scope.

Here is what I wrote after episode 5 I just thought of a different way to write Episode 5, including a way in which King's Landing could have been burned to a crisp without Dany stepping out of character to do it. How about D and D have Dany get grazed by a scorpion bolt in an initial battle with the Golden Army...falling to the ground with a near fatal injury, she is bloodied, and cannot move to ride back upon Drogon. Drogon gets angry and turns his head to the city, crying out like a banshee. Dany, suddenly realizing what Drogon is about to do...says "No Drogon"...Drogon looks at Dany, then again turns towards King's Landing...blowing a rage of fire. "No, No Drogon...NO". Drogon refuses to listen and flys away to King's Landing...Dany crying with fear and compassion. Drogon begins to scorch everything in his sight with a fit of rage. The Golden Army is massacred the rest of the way, and Drogon blows fire into the Lannister army, then circles above. The Lannister Army then surrenders...bells begin ringing...but Drogon hears the bells and begins another attack into the City...Scorching streets and the surrendered people on route to the Red Keep. Cercie, seeing the Dragon going ballistic...retreats to the bowels of the Castle. The Red Keep is hit first and much of the building and Iron throne are destroyed, then Drogon continues to systematically destroy the city. John Snow sees Drogon scorching all the people...so does Jaime, who now changes his mind about finding Cercie and chooses to do something about the deaths of civilians in King's Landing. Together, John, Jaime and also Sir Davos...search for a scorpion to stop Drogon. The city is half destroyed when John finally finds a scorpion...Jamie and Sir Davos too. Some Unsullied, led by Grey Worm...see that the 3 men are going to attempt to stop Drogon...and they attack John, Jamie, and Sir Davos...thinking they are betraying Dany. It is a bloody fight and Grey Worm is mortally wounded by Jamie...the other unsullied are stopped in the fighting. As Grey Worm is about to die, John whispers in his ear..."you were the most loyal subject to Dany and her children...she will forever remember you" The 3 heroes get back to their scorpions and each fires a bolt and misses...Drogon sees the direction of the bolts and counter attacks. Sir Davos is flamed...but Jaime and John are both successful with their 2nd shot...Drogon flames Jaime, and Jaime is also mortally wounded. Drogon flies to kill John, but realizes who he is...becomes very puzzled...and does not breathe out fire...John shoots a bolt directly into Drogon's heart...which mortally wounds Drogon, who sensing his soon to be fatal wound flies to Dany...and dies in front of her with one last pat on the head. Jamie thanks John for being a great leader...John thanks Jamie for saving the people of King's Landing one more time. During the Drogon attack, The Cliganbowl did take place and happens as in episode 5. But Arya only told The Hound what he wanted to hear and circles back throughout the collapsing castle to find Cercie. Arya goes to the depths of the Red Keep, stones falling everywhere... and finds Cercie alone...causing final dialog as Arya prepares to kill Cercie. But when Arya sees Cercie is pregnant...she cannot blade her body and murder the mother. A block from fire damage suddenly falls upon Arya and she falls to the ground wounded, Cercie now draws a blade and steps to kill Arya...giving Arya some evil words about her weakness. As Cercie pulls her sword into a decapitation maneuver...another portion of the castle falls and crushes Cercie to death. Arya survives. Lots of things happen to bring closure. But the main arc is with Dany and John.

GOT would end something like the following: Dany is taken back to Dragonstone and is not doing very well. In deep thought by all that has happened...Dany has an epiphany and tells John..."there is no more castle, no more Iron throne...King's Landing is over". Dany then tells John she loves him and just wants to be with him..."nothin else matters anymore". John tells Dany that he has thought a lot about what he said the day before...and it has bothered him ever since...because during the battle... he realized how much he loved her too and says he cannot be without her. Dany and John kiss and hold each other. Dany says she would only want to be Queen if he were the King...and that both would need to counsel together to make any decisions. John says..."then we must lead the people with justice, benevolence, and honor". They both smile and drink the wine in the bottle near the table. A minute later, both begin to toss and turn and choke, falling to the ground in each others arms. Varys little bird is doubly, yet fatefully successful...as she has poisoned both Dany and John...star crossed lovers...dying in each others arms. Euron is found by a small scouting fleet of boats led by Yara. Euron is weak and barely alive. Yara chops off his head. Or you can have a giant creature come from the sea and pull him under...thus, aligning with Euron's possible link to the race under the sea. Bran declines to be the King...though he is next in order. Sanza and Tyrion smile at each other and Tyrion says "Well you weren't such a bad wife". Sanza says. "And you did give such great counsel...along with treating me with respect and honor". Tormund is back...sees Brianne...he winks at her and she smiles. Sam declines to be Lord of his Castle and instead, takes the Grand Maester position at The Citadel. Bronn is given King's Landing...which he takes with a smile "I always wanted an entire city and castle of rubble...means I don't have much to upkeep...plus, there must be a bit of gold buried somewhere for a bastard Lord to find" Years pass by...and we see children playing in Winterfell's castle courtyard. A small red headed dwarf runs along with his loving brothers and sisters as proud parents Sanza and Tyrion watch from their upper room. Another shot is cut to Little Wildling children running around in an open forest...with Tormund tossing two children toddlers far too dangerously high into the air, catching them both, one in each hand ...Brianne is teaching her oldest daughter how to wield a sword. Cutting away again...Sam and Gilly's kids are looking at books in the Citadel. But then we see one more family of children...and this one is the surprise...as Arya and Gendry are both telling their children about the past history of Winterfell and the White Walkers. Arya is in a beautiful dress...and Gendry near her with their son and daughter. Arya humbly says that the "Night King was then stabbed and shattered into little ice cubes...along with all his generals...and the undead army died with him". "Who stabbed the Night King Mother, HE must of been very brave", says her daughter. "He was a she, and she was very brave" says Gendry. Arya smiles and we pan the camera down to see boots worn under her dress. You know...Happy Endings all around.

He wanted freedom, and while GW and other Dany loyalists thought he will be sentenced for life, he actually regained his full freedom. Ned hated the throne, even Bobby B hated it. Jon rejects Dany because he grew up in the north and loving his aunt isn't something he would participate in, to put it lightly. A series of events of cause and effect can be traced back to when Sam first finds out.

​@@kenne210 You've got a point and you could also argue that Varys died directly because of his parentage but even though Jon's refusing her was a part of her loosing it, it was only a small part and it's not like he turns on her, he just doesn't want to sleep with her anymore. And even with that point I STILL think the plot point was horrifically underused. This is a twist that had been building for 7 seasons and the only effect on the story is an execution and a "night on the couch" argument?? I was expecting this to be a HUGE part of the whole season. The whole realm recognizing Jon for who he really is and that, along with his character and all past contributions to the realm (contributions that would've been even more impact-full if HE had killed the Night King but thats another issue....) bring the whole of Westros, and maybe even Dany, to follow his lead so he could turn the people against Circe and take HIS throne. Saying they did NOTHING with it is probably me going overboard but I feel like they could have used that theme to do some really interesting things with the story but only used it minimally. It didn't seem to have a whole lot of impact in the finale either. Even with everyone telling Jon, "She knows who you are" "She'll never trust you" "You'll always be a threat" Dany sure doesn't seem to think that way in their last scene. She pleads with Jon to trust her and stay by her side instead of saying "I don't think I can trust Tyrion OR YOU!! So you either fall in line and forget who your real parents are or I'll pretend like you're an innocent citizen of Kings Landing and burn your ass alive!!!" I don't know, I just wanted more. PS Wouldn't it have been cool if instead of blasting the iron throne, Drogon blasts Jon with fire but he survives because he's Targaryen. That's what I thought was going to happen at the time. I thought he'd ride Drogon back out to the armies of the Unsullied and Dothraki, reveal himself as Agon Targaryen, and make some "Mark Antony in Julius Caesar" speech about why Dany's "liberation" idea was wrong and why they needed to be a "kingdom of mercy" as I think he put it. I know there's plotholes in that idea but I'm sure they could've made it work.

Have Bran nobly sacrifice himself to give them time to retreat. When news reaches the people of kings landing that their Queen (Cersei) abandoned the army of the north to the dead she gets ousted in a Coop. Dany and Jon take over and plan for round 2 or 3 (or more) battles against the Night King as his army marches south. They finally defeat him in the last episode of the season after several more loved characters die in an epic battle. This is my ideal season 8.

I was as disappointed with the finale as much as the next guy, but this particular thing I see everywhere and isn't actually poor writing on the show. A Master of Whispers not only gets information but is used to spread and manipulate it. Bran can't do that part, so they need one.

The point of Bran being king is that he is going to let others rule. it is automatically more democratic because there is not a single authoritarian ruler over everyone. The significance of Bronn and Davos on the council is huge--common men have risen and now there are voices for the common people creating policy from scratch. Bran hints that he is going to be going AWOL a lot when he comments that he will be searching for Drogon. In other words, he will be doing what he does as the "memory of the world." It is also interesting to note that the only real Stark left is Sansa--all the others have nihilated themselves in some way or another. John died and then sacrificed himself for duty; Arya lost her identity long ago; and Bran obviously became a non-person on his quest. Bran as king and Sansa as Queen in the North makes perfect sense. As does Tyrion as Hand. I really liked this episode.

Jon Snow was a Targaryen, for no reason. Bran was the 3 Eyed Raven , for no reason. Daenerys did amazing things for 8 seasons, for no reason. Prince who was promised? No reason. They cleary needed more episodes. But i think, all in all, the Series came to a satisfiing end. Season 7&8 weren't as good as the ones before but still, very very good. I just think people should calm down a bit, maybe read the books when they are released and enjoy what they get, they won't get more or something new.
