GAME RECAP: Penguins at Avalanche (03.24.24) | Sidney Crosby's Four-Point Game

The Penguins got off to a roaring start against the Colorado Avalanche, who had won their last eight games going into today's contest. Jesse Puljujarvi started things off by crashing the net and whacking the puck in. Bryan Rust tallied a goal of his own after Sidney Crosby took the puck away in the neutral zone. Rust drove to the net with a power move and slipped the puck home. In the 2nd period, Sidney Crosby's extra-effort lunge towards the puck kept play alive, and he was able to masterfully deflect a shot in behind Avs netminder Georgiev. Then, P.O Joseph's patience with the puck allowed him to wrist the puck in, giving the Penguins a commanding 4-0 lead. Walker and Trenin would each get some revenge on the Penguins, and the score was 4-2 in favor of the visitors heading into the 3rd period. Just over three-and-a-half minutes into the period, Drouin struck to get Colorado within one. It was Nathan MacKinnon, with under five minutes remaining in regulation, who tied the game and sent it to overtime. In the extra period, Drouin scored his second of the game to give the Avalanche the win, 5-4.

Pens defense is complete trash. Karlson easily could've swept the puck to OConner in the corner on the second Avs goal. Instead he attempts to clear with a lazy backhand up the middle of the ice. Garbage move. Letang looks like he is asleep in OT. Letang can no longer handle massive ice time minutes. It clearly shows game after game. Season is done. Let's see some of the young guys get more ice time and send these old losers packing. I've seen enough.

A draft pick is nice, but who's to say Sullivan isn't the problem, though? That's the main thing here. Almost half the roster was changed over from last year, and the results remained the same. What does that tell you, I wonder? Either Dubas needs to be fired for making the team too old, or Sullivan needs to be fired.
