I was never a fan of storing your games like that in a drawer. Just looks so much cooler on a shelf, even if you gotta double or triple layer em so you can't see all of them, I just think it looks cooler, even if it takes more room. Those old media shelves with the doors on the side would've been perfect.

I agree for fighting games or shooter games on the SNES input lag may make the games to difficult to play on an emulator. But I play the RPGs ROMs on an emulator because hackers have new different versions of the games. There is no worry about a short input lag for these games because they are not based on manual dexterity. No matter how many carts you buy of Chrono Trigger or Super Mario World it is still exactly the same game you played in the 90's when they first came out. Chrono Trigger has been the same game for 25 years. But hackers have ROMs with a whole new area in 12,000 BC where you are able to save Schala which you can't do on the original game. There is also a hacker version that has a new completely playable 1990 area which is not in the original game. Plus hackers have retranslated the game making it closer to the Japanese Super Famicom version. A lot of the dialog was changed for the U. S. Release. With hacked versions more faithfully translated we get games more faithful to the original version by the Japanese programmers and not watered down versions or cleaned up versions released on the Super Nintendo. Another great things about hackers ROMs is that there are at least a dozen new versions of Super Mario World. This is one of the best games ever but came out in 1991 and it gets old and boring playing the same old game for nearly 30 years. Hackers have completely reworked the game where the areas and bosses are completely different. It is a lot of fun and challenge to play a new version of that old classic. These hacks are something really new in game play for those who had had these games for years and played them over and over again. The best benefit of the hacked ROMs is you can play translated ROMs of RPG's that never came out here. There is no way you can put in a cart of Final Fantasy V or Dragon Quest V & VI in your Super Nintendo and play it on a TV because those games were never released here in English. The only way to play these games are on ROMs on an emulator on your laptop or computer. Look up a game called Do Re Mi Fantasy. Never released for the Super Nintendo but available as an English translated ROM. This is a fantastic platform adventure game you never could play here. Gamers have said this game is as good as Super Mario World but it never came out for Super Nintendo. I would rather spend my time playing this game than spending the time to collect SNES games at yard sales, thrift stores or retro game stores.

@@KingArakonGaming It looks like they're all unplugged. How do you play them, just keep the wires on hand and take them out when you want to play? Also, I totally love those glass door cabinets. Do you think that if I got them, I would be able to cut small holes in the back of each shelf for wires? Having consoles plugged in and ready to go is important to me.
@KingArakonGaming3 жыл бұрын
You are correct I only hook them up when I use them the cables are filed away in the closet in named bags. You could definitely cut through the back it's just pressed board. I use a couple jtech digital Switchs to hook the console up to the tv

I have friends who are getting into Super Nintendo games and want to play Chrono Trigger until they see carts selling for $200 on eBay. Then I tell them to download a SNES emulator for their computer for free and buy a converter so their Super Nintendo controller will connect to their computer. Next find one of the many sites where you can download games for free including Chrono Trigger. "Collectors" have driven up the prices of these Super Nintendo games to moon money average gamers can't afford. Leave the original games in the boxes to rich collectors and leave the games to be downloaded and enjoyed for free on computers for the average gamer.Then for those tired of playing the same old version of Chrono Trigger for the last 25years there are the ROM hacks that add things like a completely playable 1999 and fan retranslations of the game more faithful to the Japanese version than the U.S. Translated cart which changed a lot of the original dialog. Let the collectors spend tens of thousands of dollars for complete Super Nintendo collections which they put on shelves and never play and leave the playing and enjoyment of the games to guys who are the real gamers with emulators and roms. Sure nice to see some people rich enough with money to burn who can pay moon money for SNES carts to sit on shelves and brag about. Fortunately there are SNES emulators and roms for the people who want to play these games and not spend tens of thousands of dollars to fill them in game rooms and show them off. Your game shows everyone you have tons of cash to spend on original games and are in the top 1% of the wealthy. For the rest of us poor gamers who play the games and don't stack them on shelves to brag about there are emulators and roms for those who really play the games.

Yes its crazy to see what they going for some of these games and consoles, and yes your right about people with money and not using them etc but its a hobby, hobbies can be enjoyed in many ways, using or just displaying. Oh look, another wall of text from a salty, jealous person. It isn't the 1% building game rooms like this. It's the middle class. It's not hard to save a few hundred here and there. This is called budgeting, and if you can't budget for something like this, you either have your priorities elsewhere, or you didn't listen when your parents told you to stay in school instead of smoking weed and playing video games with all your time.
