I love this walking simulator Death Stranding, L2 plus R2 walking is no permanent option, because you can't run or even walk fast. The atmosphere is great and there are many many many gameplay mechanics to manage and plan a personal journey like in no other game.

I would think RE2 could be seen as an important game for 2019. Although not a new concept, hopefully it will set the standard for what a remake should be.

The 'most important games of the decade' discussion was thoroughly enjoyable! Tina's notable mentions were on point. I also routinely like the 'revisiting old games mags' segments but I really appreciate the pages being included on the video in this one. I know it means more work - probably for Daemon - but it is much better if the viewer can see the hilarious ads! Also, so long as Sam keeps flying those Witcher 3 and Red Dead 2 flags, I'll forgive him for last week's Rocket League dump!! :D

People are extremely diverse, but there is a line that puts us in two camps. One group of people sees something strange that they don't understand and proclaim "THIS IS DUMB because I don't get it". The other group of people sees something strange that they don't understand and proclaim "WOW... what is that? I want to explore it and see what it tells me about myself, my world, etc." The first time Death Stranding made me walk back upstream on a river bank to choose a path that would make it less likely for me to fall and drop my boxes, I felt a feeling I don't get to feel when gaming. Traversal is usually so secondary... we expect our character to be super powered and able to fly over any obstacle. Death Stranding made me care about the consequences of where to ford the river, and this is the EXACT feeling I have in real life on a daily basis. It mattered where I decided to cross the river, and I cared enough to think about it longer than a few moments.

I'll be honest, this is the Tina show now. Throughout this episode she was making thoughtful critical but positively passionate commentary about every game discussed. First she was actually critical about the corporate blowjob that was Death Stranding, which was nice to see, but then onto the list... She regularly had an interesting point to make on almost every game. She remembered games in every year that where massively important. She recognised and gave credit to indie games. Honestly guys, she schooled all three of you when it comes to insightful commentary and gaming experience. She's the reason I kept listening beyond 15 mins.

Only 4 hours into Death Stranding and so far so _awesome_. So far I love the hiking and climbing, searching for routes and backtracking to conquer the terrain. Really looking forward to being able to build more stuff. I like the little bit of risk of losing cargo, reminds me of Horizon Zero Dawn the risk of not being able to get to a campfire to bank your progress. Modern, infinite-life games need that little bit of risk. The graphics, HDR, art direction, music are stellar. There is nothing wrong with holding down L2/R2. If you want to walk really slowly and carefully everywhere then, surprise, you don't trip. The (optional) skill/challenge is to move more quickly yet safely across the challenging landscape.
@JeffWillingham5 жыл бұрын
I’m about 20 hours into DS and on episode 3. I haven’t found the traversal to be something that doesn’t respect my time. I’ve fallen down and lost my cargo once so far. I also don’t think you need to hold the triggers constantly, for me the game rewards patience and learning how to manage that weight is really satisfying. I’m enjoying it a lot but I do think it’s a niche game.

I don't think Kojima's stories are nonsene. They are crazy, which is different. And I don't even think those I've experienced were that crazy compared to other stuff out there. MGS2 was utterly insane, but had a significant message, which all its elements tried to drive home.

VIDEOGAME 2.0 We are trained to hate boredom, so we try to avoid it at all cost: that is why all games are about being engage at all time with new stuff that are thrown at you...but being bored open a door and this door allows new energies to come in, new awareness, being alone is one of the pleasure of life and a passage without which we miss part of the experience to be alive. This game make you observe your thoughts as you have the time to do so....for some is like a torture as are not ready to stay alone with themselves, but they are missing out an opportunity...This game is absolutely a masterpiece: there is a wonderful bond between you and the character in the virtual world....the game opens a gate and invites not the player but you, yes, you. A masterpiece that will only grow its status....this is the first videogame 2.0.

ME 3 online really does need to be separated and given its own honorable mention perhaps. That game stayed at the top of the charts because of its at the time or original loot box setup for its multiplayer component. For over a Mass Effect 3 was near the top of the charts because people kept legging online making small purchases. It got so influential that the next Dragon Age had an online component with loot boxes and it didn't work out so well but many other games have since tried to come up with a system like it.

I think Duke Nukem Forever should be on the list for 2011. This was a game that many gamers wanted for a long time and it became just like a fable of a title that we thought we would never get and when we finally got it, it was downright terrible. It should be there as a warning that what you have clamored for over decades may not be something you want in the end. See Half-Life 3.
