This hate for Red Dead 2 is ridiculous. The slow-paced parts were the best and most beautiful moments, story, character, and atmosphere-wise. It’s because of these narrow-minded gamers that the game had some of those formulaic, predictable “gunfight suddenly breaks out out of nowhere” moments in missions.

RDR2 could hurt the future of the franchise for casual players. For me personally it's near perfect, but many casual players never got to chapter 3 just because they found it too slow and boring. I think their expectations were a bit off.

I agree with you. According to xbox achievements, only 29% of players reached chapter 6 .

I mean how much "slower" was it than the first game though? I didn't see any difference in pace until you were actually in your camp. I really don't understand the complaint
@RevenantRonin6 жыл бұрын
Agreed man, I knew what I was getting in to when I started RDR2. I knew the pace was gonna be slow bc its telling an epic story over the course of like 80 hours. To me, the people who didn't enjoy this game are way too casual and just wanna shoot stuff constantly, or they have insane ADD and can't handle 10 minutes on horseback with not a lot going on. I think the gamers who love getting "immersed" in games and have an appreciation for a story that takes its time really have a lot to chew on with RDR2.
@OfficialDaBeast6 жыл бұрын
@@RevenantRonin I mean it's not like you were thrown into action in the beginning sequences to RDR either. It took quite a few missions just to get your Dead Eye actually working. I loved both games, and honestly hope they could somehow pull off another Wild West game. I prefer RDR more realistic playstyle, and story telling over GTA's. RDR2 really and truly blew me away!

Pretty interesting discussion on the term 'beating the game'. I tend to use finish the game. It made me remember when I was a kid here in brazil many people would say 'save the game' instead. I think it has something to do with 'saving the world' saving the princess' etc.
@Artotunion6 жыл бұрын
The percentage of players who have finished RDR2 is a moot point because there is no indication as to why they wouldn't have finished. Annectdotally, Persona 5 took me forever to finish because life got in the way, but I eventually did. The Witcher 3 took me forever to finish, because once I got to Ard Skellig I diverted from the story for exploration and check mark hunting. Also, I wouldn't say that nobody is talking about RDR2 as KZbin is filled with theory videos, gameplay videos, secret hunting videos, etc. (Much more than Assassin's Creed, at least in my experience).

Red Dead Revival Set in 1920-21, Jack Marston returns to Beecher's Hope after serving during WW1. Jack attempts to live a quiet life rebuilding his parent's ranch, but finds the New Austin/West Elizabeth area has been effectively taken over by a brutal gang of bootleggers. That would be amazing.

@@OfficialDaBeast Prohibition was passed and ratified in 1919, and the last of our soldiers didn't return from Europe until 1920, so the timeline works. It would be a lot like that Tom Hardy/Shia LaBouf movie Lawless. Brutal stuff. That's how I picture it, anyway.
@auberginedreams006 жыл бұрын
The problem with that is that the Wild West was non-existent by the 1920s. You can’t go any later and have it still be a cowboy game. Although a mafia game would be cool in the RDR universe.
@RevenantRonin6 жыл бұрын
Yea I've thought about this scenario loosely even before RDR2 was out considering how the first one ended. I think it would be natural to play as Jack in another Red dead game but the question would be, what is the location and time period. The key would be doing something different enough that isn't just a retread of the previous two games. I like the idea of it being prohibition era but then we have cars and tommy guns and whatnot so its essentially not a western. I think you could get away with that time period but when you feature a major city it basically turns into their sister franchise GTA. I think keeping it out on the frontier and away from major civilization could keep the essence of red dead intact but they would be walking a fine line. I think a game that combined elements of red dead and GTA in to one game could be brilliant but super hard to pull off. If anyone can do it, it's rockstar.

RE: Video Game 20 Questions. With the calendar creeping towards 2020 wouldn't it be wiser to start narrowing down the decade by asking if the game was made before/after 2000 first? I respect the correction you made to RE2 review Daemon! Though I can't shake the vibe that Jonathan was maybe bit too critical of KH3? Looking at everything it does well. The amount of polish and insane variety from the combat, bustling environments, music, activities.. and then everything is voiced well. Take a look at GameXplains review, it's a very convincing review. I've only played a few KH games and I'm not some typical hater of scores but that took me by surprise, not reaching even a 9 with what's on display. But that's just from the outside looking in of course.

I think the term "boss" in video games most likely refers to the ultimate bad-guy being the boss of all the other bad guys, and in that context, it makes sense. Bowser is the "boss" all the koopas, Zeus is the "boss" of all the other gods in the original God of War trilogy, and in turn all the other gods are also bosses of some other enemy type below them on the hierarchy. I think that term doesn't make sense only because everything else in the gaming world is referred to as from your character's perspective, so the confusion there is that he's not YOUR boss, but he is still A boss, and I think all things considered it's a good term in video games. I mean, what would the alternative be? The super ultimate bad guy?

Nah, it improved on the original in every way. It just added more depth to the experience including how I see the first game now. The controls felt fine as I'm used to games like GTA and original Red Dead. The epilogue was fan service for people who liked the first game and ended the game on a good note compared to original. You leave this game thinking everyone will have a happy ending. People who played the original have the added layer of knowing it will all be taken away. RDR3 could be a prequel to RDR2. In Red Dead's case, sequels work backwards.
