Talking about VR eye tracking - fun fact about your eyes: every time you move them (which is called a saccade), they "shut off" for a fraction of a second so that you don't actually see the movement (otherwise it would be blurry and would likely make you motion sick). This is why if you look in a mirror and dart your eyes, you will not see them move, you will simply see their new position :P

I didn't catch any mention of Hogwarts Legacy - I may have just missed it, but that's another game that is supposed to come out 2022 at some point (definitely AFTER Fantastic Beasts according to them). I feel like the Harry Potter world is perfect for an RPG or even MMORPG world (also VR, but that's a whole nother topic), but it has to be done right, and while I don't have a lot of faith in Hogwarts Legacy, I'm still curious what the gameplay will be like.

Combat in Harry Potter games is a problem. It may work in the movies because those battles happen pretty fast but when you’re fighting with pretty much everything for 8-9 hours it’s not much fun or intuitive.
@PeterDB903 жыл бұрын
@@muckymucks This is what I mean when I say “it has to be done right” - you can’t make the wands into glorified guns, give us a crosshair and make us “shoot” things in the head with it - it has to be about the variety of spells and progression (in the form of skills - the better skilled you are, the better the spell works, like “alohamora” will only open simple locks if you aren’t skilled with it or in gamer speak, “specced” into it), so combat needs to be more about using the right spells rather than getting a headshot with it. This is what’s going to make or break the game for me. If my wand can only shoot a precision generic damage spell then it’s not for me.
@PeterDB903 жыл бұрын
@@Garoth4582 Is it because of JK Rowling controversy? That seems silly to me. First of all, the devs said she’s not involved in this game, and second… the woman stated and opinion she had. It’s not like she fostered a sexual harassment haven in her company like Blizzard - it’s crazy how the side that used to preach tolerance just 10 years ago has become the most intolerant group! I don’t agree with many of John Oliver’s views, but I understand where he comes from so I don’t hate him for it, I still enjoy the show. Sorry for the rant, it’s just irritating to me. JK Rowling has many unlikeable qualities but she still created an amazing magical world for people to enjoy - that still means something…

God Of War: Ragnarok is definitely my most anticipated of this year. I guess close behind is Horizon. But I told myself I didn’t want to purchase games in full price anymore. Just because, like, three months later they’re half off usually. But its going to be really hard with those games because I really want to play them. But I don’t feel right buying them on release because I have a huge back catalog of games to play. Games like Deathloop and Returnal just to name a few. A bunch for ps4. Damn these PlayStation sales! Lol.

I too am looking forward to GOW Ragnarok and loved the last game. I have been a fan since the PS2/PS3 games and even the PSP games. I have the PS3 collection with all the PS2 and PSP games upscaled for the PS3 which is great! I even liked the prequel on PS3(name is escaping me). All that said, I am waiting until I land a PS5 before I play Ragnarok. It’s a game that is going to deserve the extra horsepower and I want that framerate at least hitting 60fps with 4K.

The conversation these franchises are having is quite unique and other than the aesthetic these games share the same language. I am about 30+ hours in and I have no idea how anyone (without their Nintendo goggles on) could pick BOTW over Horizon. The physics & logic that you can play with in BOTW is really neat and fun to play with, but the combat/story in BOTW doesn't hold a candle to Horizon. I think a lot of people got hung up on the "climb anywhere" feature of BOTW, but it doesn't make up for the other areas where it's lacking. The same is true for Horizon in other respects, of course.

I found Halo to be the most disappointing game of 2021. Dull, buggy & generally unfinished.
@thechicagobox3 жыл бұрын
I can’t help you if you think it was dull, but as far as bugs go it definitely had a few but show me an open world game that released recently that doesn’t have bugs. It’s almost to the point where I firmly believe that we are the beta testers now, so we report all the bugs and then they patch them up without having to hire a team of testers before release. With the amount of freedom in movement in Halo, it was inevitable that bugs were going to be hard to squash them all. It’s still BS but it’s an industry wide problem that needs to stop. Am sure there’s a few exceptions but it’s just that, the exception and not the rule. It’s like everyone saw that Bethesda was making buggy games but they still sold like gangbusters, fast forward to 2022 and that’s now the norm… I’ve been gaming since the 80’s and I’m telling you that this crap started slowly on the PS3/360 generation of consoles(PC has been a while longer) due to the hard drives imo. The games were also getting bigger and costly, corners got cut a lot due to “we can fix it with a day one patch” which turned into regular patches for years that changed major stuff depending on the game(Destiny/Witcher 3). Sorry for the novel’s worth lol.
@stuartbagley25863 жыл бұрын
And if you remember, Microsoft used to charge developers for any patch after the first during the PS3/360 era. We had a handful of patches then but it was manageable. Know what happened, the gaming press got wind of Microsoft charging for patches, complained that it was unfair to small developers and MS bowed to the pressure and stopped charging. Next thing you know, we’re in the PS4/X1 era and patches are a dime a dozen. Be careful what you wish for. . .
