There’s more places to go, people to talk to, missions to engage with than in any other Bethesda game so the empty planet complaint is weird to me after playing 150 hrs of Starfield and spending less than 10 hrs on those empty planets. It’s like if someone complained that there was nothing to do in the middle of a pond in the Witcher 3. If you don’t like doing nothing, then do something. Valid complaints about the quality of dialogue and characters etc though

Yes exactly. Planets in a game called Starfield which heavily marketed exploration of those planets is exactly like the ponds in a narrative RPG with a completely different design philosphy or gameplay loop that didnt market pond exploration. Excellent comparison.

Starfield is fantastic & has as much or more content than their other games, but it's too hidden. They need to work on discoverability with the map and density in populated systems. Bethesda used to be the RPG leader, now they are not even among the top 5 RPG studios, and that's fine. They just need to invest on gettting some new talent and tech onboard and start competing with the best out there, instead of trying to answer online reviews XD. If they start right now they may be able to get on the spotlight again after 5 years or so, and there's no reason they should not be able to do it considering they now have the backing of MS infinite pockets.

Starfield has a design problem is not so much the engine look at the mods people make to work with the engine. It was either internal problems or they don’t know what they’re doing anymore. It’s a step down from fallout 4. It’s a disconnect world, bad ai, bad procedural generation, bad pacing, and so much more. Most buildings in the cities are one room. The skyscrapers have one floor you can go to with one room on that floor. The inns in Skyrim were bigger. The generated locations have the same loot and furniture in the exact location. If they mess up elder scrolls they’re done and Todd’s career if he leaves after elder scrolls will make his legacy a bad one.

It's crazy how Baldur's Gate 3 is still consistently in the top 5 most played games daily on Steam after lifestyle games such as Counter Strike and DOTA 2 which have been there forever (and are free to play), and BG3 is on 95% positive reviews on Steam, all more than 3 months after it released. No bugs, Dated Visuals for the Switch and great Visuals on the Playstation, better exploration, real time space transition. Not the worst quantity in videogame history.
