I think mt biggest complaint about Rogue and Unity is that Shay killed Arno's father and Arno has 0 interest in finding out that Shay did it. He doesn't question it, never pursues it, nothing. It would have been such an epic moment to have the 2 of them meet and at least have some sort of confrontation
@mcburn_6 жыл бұрын
Just Unity, because its writing was very abysmal and poorly done with unnecessary character deaths, none that you felt compelled enough to care about, with an improper lead-in from Rogue. It would've been better If, say, you went to the very same party that your father did and noticed a hooded figure and chased them to the rooftop, then had one final confrontation with shay. Needless to say, none of the AC games had excellent or fantastic writing, and never even bordered on good writing, not any modern ones anyway.

I think there was definitely potential to connect the games in a better way and perhaps have an epic boss fight between Arno and Shay. Something like that fight that happens against his mentor in the clock tower. That fight and the Church level that had multiple solutions(even shown in the promo vids), those were one of the highlights in Unity for me. I actually really liked Unity and it could have been a much better game if the stealth mechanic actually worked and there was a proper whistle or distrast options that worked. The parkour and the controls needed work along with character lock-on in combat. And if the online portion was integrated better and the co-op was easier to get into. Some of the side missions online were soo much fun if you could get another player or two and communicate properly and take guys out in sync.

Another issue you forgot to mention: After Lisbon, Shay storms into the Assasin HQ all pissed off like it just happened, despite the fact he just finished a 2-3 month ocean voyage. My greatest problem with Rogue is, that its story is so serious, that you don't feel like you are allowed to do all the side missions. In Black Flag I did maybe 75% of the side missions during my first playthrough, just because the missions were set like "see you in a month". It didn't feel like the plot was the most important thing. But in Rogue all your missions are of most importance. So this huge open world just becomes something you travel through and not something you actually explore.
@sjhmagic16 жыл бұрын
well that was the point of black flag, exploration over story. the story wasn't that deep.
@Modie6 жыл бұрын
I know that, but this is what was missing in Rogue. You can't just make a complete different game and then put on a mechanic that was designed for a completely different type of game. It just doesn't work.

@@sjhmagic1In retrospect, black flag while focusing on the exploration and an open world feel, had some of the most compelling character beats and development. Szabó Bence You clearly did not read the comment or you were just being ignorant. In no way did they CHANGE or ADAPT the game for a Templar playing style. Sure he WAS an assasin for the creed, but it was clearly stated he CHANGED sides idrc if you want Shay to climb up walls or not--they didnt even bother to experiment with the kind of possibilities the player could do. He maybe a Templar in name only but you still play like an Assasin. The only function for Shay to be a Templar was to serve the end narrative. Idfc he if climbs up walls if you're telling me you switched sides in game, give me the abilities and combat of a Templar Knight/Operative.

Yeah. Newfoundland is completely different. And also the river valley, Shay did an impossible thing by sailing from Sleepy Hollow to Mount Vernon by the Houdson River. But it didnt bother me much, sometimes you have to sacrifice accuracy to favour better flowing gameplay. And none of the previous games were geografically accurate anyway, so Rogue wouldnt be different. Take AC II for example, they made Forlí next to the sea, just so Ezio could go to Venice by boat. What actually bothered me was Ubisoft changing the architecture of the buildings and churches of Italy.
@bovie_bovie Жыл бұрын
I feel the same way about the River Valley map. It bears almost no resemblance to the real Hudson River Valley. In the game, they made it into a delta and half of the locations are completely made up. They could’ve made it a long straight and wide river with all the IRL locations, and the gameplay & story wouldn’t have suffered.

About Sin #33, "I can sympathize with Shay being upset since he feels responsible for starting the earthquake that destroyed Lisbon, but it's not like the Assassins knew that would happen. They sent him there to retrieve a Piece of Eden, an artifact that does not cause earthquakes." Literally 10 seconds later in that same scene, Shay says why he thinks the Assassins knew the earthquake would occur. You yourself even said something similar later on in the video. I've noticed this happens a lot with "sin" channels, they sin something that's either: Already been explained, Being explained in the same scene they're sinning, or Will be explained at some point later in the movie/episode/game. It's annoying.

In the fight against Kesegowaase, the only way to get full synch is to kill him using a puckle gun. Even if Kesegowaase somehow managed to survive getting shot by a mini cannonball long enough to spill his guts out, figuratively, the scene shows the two in close physical combat. If a perfect synch suggests the proper way Shay lived out the memory, the cinematic scene would be impossible. *ding*

Erase the sin of playing like a templar. Its literally the players choice how to play. You DONT have to play like an assassin at all. From my experience learning other language, strangely, language is a thing that you could learn fast by imagining an image thus, as long as you understand the meaning, it doesn’t matter if you can pronounce the language or not. It isn’t learnt just by defining word per word, thus it’s not really important to understand the word, but rather the meaning and the concept behind it. It’s really interesting.

2:58 Even though in Assassin’s Creed 3, which came out 2 years before this game, you literally play as an Assassin who’s half Native American.

Kudos for acknowledging the tsunami in the Lisbon's earthquake. I'm Portuguese by the way, and that was a significant point in our history as it marked the beginning of the decline of the Portuguese Empire. It also marked the start of the atheism in Europe.

Reusing assets doesn't have to be a sin. Just look at Majoras Mask. They might have reused everything from Ocarina of Time but they took it in an entirely new direction.

4:35 dude... Shay came for the Box, and that's exactly the point Washington is making: while he wasted time on killing an already dying Templar, his allies had time to escape with the box

One sentence does not prove William Miles is dead... I agree Origins just glosses over stuff but in media unless you see a body usually someone isnt dead.

Is it weird that Sins Videos usually say that there are more French in Black Flag and Rogue than in Unity but in Unity I heard there are tons of French

The fact that he was a wounded assassin near the assassin headquarters and they weren't attempting a rescue might be a reason to believe he left them.

I'll be honest, the territory capture mechanic is my favorite part in most AC games. It's like a story relevant way to control gameplay difficulty in game.

Just finished it. They polished all stuff they introduced in Black Flag, but story was too short. It was boring. Maybe only first Assassin's Creed was more boring, but plot twist at the end is what started the franchise.

That's something that really annoyed me after playing Rogue: Arno never uncovered the truth about the death of his father nor does he find the killer. The whole game you are busy uncovering De la Serre's death and dealing with the brotherhood's shit you should have never taken part in. And what is even more confusing: De la Serre was the grand master of the templar order. Why do they even send Shay to murder Arno's father? De la Serre had every opportunity to do this in a discrete fashion. After all, they were befriended, or so it seems, because Arno knew him. But instead they send shady Shay and somehow no one has seen him coming and going and no one ever mentions him.
@phDexterable5 жыл бұрын
Well, he wasn't there to kill Arno's father but to retrieve the MacGuffin. As for De la Serre not killing Mr. Dorian, well, it's stated very clearly during the game that the french Templars and Brotherhood had a truce going as both organisations lost sight of their goals and purposes, miring themselves in politics. And both organisation going through a purge and inner revolution is a major part of the story. I also kinda found it dumb that Shay pretty much never comes up in Unity, but that's ultimatelymost likely because Unity was written way before Rogue or even Black Flag, development having started in 2010. I think the game might be trying to tell you that Arno concludes the same person killed both of his fathers with that weird drug induced initiation ceremony, but was being very vague about it if that's the case. Ultimately tho there's the fact that the game pretty much flat out states that Arno doesn't really cares about the past or revenge and pretty much only pursues De la Serre's killer for penitence so he can get back on good terms with Élise.
