Unfortunetly part 2 disproves this theory. Mainly because prison mark recognizes the player character. This means you're playing as the same person between in space and heist and you meet darkiplier in heist.

Markiplier has stated himself, the person in Space and Heist is literally just whoever it is that's watching the video, that's why in Heist, your hand constantly changes from a man's hand to a woman's hand and in Space, you're wearing gloves (which I think works better tbh.)

Something I find interesting is in the initial ending, if mark dies, the rest of it is pretty normal, with you able to fix the ship and be safe in the end. Once mark is removed, things ended the best way they could. That is of course, until we reset again

I also thought it was interesting that Celci, played by Pamela, is head of Cryo, tying her to her past character who had a similar role as a keeper for Damien in a permanent winter. Celci also says “It looks like someone is going to have to put the colonists first and it looks like it’s going to be me, as usual” which shows her attitude as a protector, like Celine. Lastly, she bickers with Mark whenever they’re on screen together. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that it’s not Celine’s consciousness or anything, only in the idea of the multiverse that these personalities and characters appear as different roles. An argument could be made for Gunther and the Detective, too.

There is a secret in part 2 that connects everything. Warfstache comes out of a party room and books an interview with us. That interview date is the a heist with markiplier release date. And we do get an interview there. And in wilford "motherlovin" Warfstache, when Abe arrives, he slides out the room for a second, thats when he was booking our interview in in space with markiplier.

Now, I know that the prediction of part 2 was incorrect, but I would like to point something else out. We're also considered attractive in A Date With Markiplier, which included Darkiplier, so we can't be Darkiplier then. let me add a tiny obscure detail here. in "A Heist with Markiplier" darkiplier's blue and red colours change a little. the red becomes a lot more prominent. also notice that darkipliers suit changed to white. the marks on celci's credentials are also white. just a small connection i saw.

I love this theory, found myself getting all giddy. I must mention though, there are lots of connections from heist to space; the crystal on the box and the crystal that ends up on our glove; being in space for a few seconds in heist; Mark's jail number and suit number. There's a lot and I wonder how it correlates to all of this.

I think a lot of it is similar to the Unified Pixar Theory, the idea that every movie produced by Pixar Animation all take place in a shared universe, just at different times. We're seeing all these references and easter eggs, and trying to tie it to some grand vision, when in reality, it's just something Mark puts in all his big projects. He may just like a certain number, or using similar plot points across unrelated stories. That's not to say he won't take those references and tie them together later. I'm just saying that it hasn't been planned that way from the beginning.

Oof unfortunately as of part 2 this seems more like old Mark is just the Mark we've been seeing after trying to fix everything loop after loop only to find our solution is in fact the right action. He apologized for what he's done in those loops to recreate the wormhole generator. His desperation to be the hero and inadvertently creating the problem in hold on/let go can still fit the Actor Mark, but it's too earnest compared to the pure ego that character would have.

I think you may have missed something, Mat. The way "Dorene" was spelled on that sticky note, if you look closely, is "DorINE" with an I. I posit that Celci and Dorine are connected by more than just a red herring. Look at their names, taking the aforementioned spelling correction into account. CELci. dorINE. CELINE. I think Dorine is actually an aged up version of Celci. I think they're the same person. I think they're both Celine. Edit: Misspelled a name

The thing that intrigued me the most about the whole story was the idea of a semi-aware warp core advanced enough(or created by an advanced enough civilization, if you will) to be capable of detecting and resolving paradoxes(or attempting to do so). If it's not literally a sentient machine that exists to monitor and ensure the stability of the universe. And, of course, its ability to recognize "suitable hosts"... whatever the criteria for it may be in the eyes of that machine.

I love how matpat purposely puts out a video about how making theories changes the outcome of stuff, then also putting out this sort of spoof theory in order to get us to believe that he's actually in the dark and whatever happens changes because of What he says. Which actually makes when they pull the reveal that one of the endings is a Mack ending even more cool being 4D chess, All that purposeful misdirection and well-timed videos. As for the grandma character and some others, certain characters seem to have views past the fourth wall. Like, when she said 'do you even know who you are', she may have been speaking to the captain, but was referring to us the viewers. Similarly, darkiplier is speaking directly to the viewers when we open the door. Most of the loop aware characters seem to have echoes of previous events. Warfstache and darkiplier both reference us just picking nonsensical stuff to find secrets. Also, the captain character seems to have no real memories of any of this stuff. We can moreso nudge them, I suppose you could say.

Coming back here after seeing the events of both Part 1 and 2 of In Space with Markiplier, it all mask sense in a way. In Space with Markiplier is actually a Prequel to the events of A Heist with Markiplier. The Blue Jewel in box and the warp stone (if i may call it that) are the exact same jewel. Something i found odd was that the player gets blamed even though mark is the one messing things up (warp core in the first place, wanting to attack wug, not having proper systems "life support is online, unless it's not, and then we wouldn't know until we passed out" "Why do you have so many selfdestruct protocols and only one repair protocol?", general behaviour, etc.)
