Everything that MatPat has mentioned would take 10 or 15 pages of notes somewhere and then maybe another 5-15 of ideas and a page or two of the 'meta' plot going on. That's a short story, and not particularly long. He only has, what? 10 characters? A page each, and maybe two for Darkiplier and Wilford Worfstache would be sufficient for all of their character traits thus far and a synopsis of their plot thus far. (Please don't kill me Darkiplier and Wilford Worfstache, I knew which was which and I chose you the first time in A Date with Markiplier) Sure, a novella is a significant amount, but a novella after a few years? That's not much to draft.
