I was surprised how much I ended up playing mine - it was very handy for a quick, instant-on burst of gaming. It actually made me complete SMB1 w/out warps or save states for the very first time ☺️

Id like to see Contra or the Ninja Gaiden trilogy but this one is my favorite as yet…I thought the screen was gonna be too small for Zelda but i was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to see and play

Kind of surprised we didn't get a Metroid one this year, would have been a great way to play Metroid 1&2 again and possibly Super or Fusion. I think next year we might get one along with a Kirby G&W edition to celebrate his 30th anniversary.

The problem with a Metroid one is, it could only have 1 & 2, which have not aged well. Any others would require them to put shoulder buttons on a Game & Watch. ...Now, if they DID plop some shoulders on there and released it with 1, 2, 4, and Zero Mission, I would fight someone for it despite still having all of those games. And if they put more face buttons and included 3, I don't want to know what I'd pay for it, even though I own several different copies of that. (Just using the numbers as the titles where possible)

The most important detail to know about this package is that it uses Link's Awakening version 1.0, which means it has the teleport bug intact, which means it's undoubtedly the best version of Link's Awakening. Step 1: Press Select to open the map at the exact moment you leave the edge of a screen and it begins transitioning to the next one. Step 2: Spend the next year of your life figuring out how to sequence break ALL THE THINGS. Fair warning: you will almost certainly soft-lock your save file at some point by saving at a door you have no way to escape from, but that's part of the fun.

Yes that glitch is still there but unfortunaly they fixed the bow house glitch as it teleport you back to the sword beach so you cant get the lvl 2 powerglove early...well you still can but it is way more difficult.

So many people still make this mistake, I heard it was English peoples bad geographical understanding lead them to attributing the German Deutsch and Netherlands as being the same language and abbreviated Deutsch to Dutch thinking that's what the Netherlands spoke. This probably should be fixed tbh but it's hard to change words especially in the English language

I was legitimately underwhelmed by the Mario one, yet this one has me SUPER excited! I actually preordered this one & can't wait for it to come in! You certainly get a lot more gaming for your buck with this one than the Mario one, that's for sure. They absolutely should have included more games with the Mario one, like at least Super Mario Land could have been added in at bare minimum.

I preordered the Mario one cause I though it was gonna be hard to get. I waited two weeks after the release for it to show up. So I went and bought one at Walmart the day the zelda one got released. It was there in the case next to 12 of the Mario ones 😂

The biggest thing I'm excited is that unless I'm mistaken, this is the first time the very original Link's Awakening has gotten a re-release. Whenever Link's Awakening gets re-released, it's always the DX version. Which makes sense because it is the superior version, but it's nice to have the original remembered too.

I think it's kind of obvious why they didn't put "A Link to the Past," on this. It was on the SNES and would require four additional buttons: two face buttons, a left trigger and a right trigger. They're using the same mold as the Mario Game & Watch they just released. Adding buttons means more parts, retooling the mold for the case and a higher price point. They probably added "Link's Awakening," the original version over the colorized version simply because it was the original. They could have and probably should have done both so people could choose to play it with color or in the original monochromatic scheme.

I think that A Link to the Past was forgone because.... well, it would require a lot more buttons to work. I dunno, just seems unnecessary since it would be the only game to use them. Still, I think it's a much better deal than the Mario G&W since the firs 2 marios can be beaten in 20 minutes total

I would have loved to get a Zelda 2 remake. I figure they wouldn’t do it, mostly due to how polarized the game is, but that would have been so amazing. Zelda 2 will always be remembered as one of my all time favorite NES games growing up.

@@AxeIRad I watched some try to hack the Mario game and watch - it didn't seem particularly open to it nearly as much as the NES/SNESc's - mostly because the USB is only providing power. The hacks that were successful - required a fair amount of soldering (if memory serves - to coin a phrase).

@@bongokongo8463 splatoon has never had 8 and 16 bit games. Its a bit beyond the scope of a device like this. I think now is a a actually a goid time for a metroid game and watch. Dread has surpassed Prime for a similar launch period. Still have the holiday yet and next year but dread apparently is sitting at 845,000 or so. Unsure if that's just physical. But its setting series records. A metroid game and watch could also benefit from the collectible factor. That is people buying just to collect.

Now THAT would be a collection! And all will be reaching 35-40 year anniversaries in the next couple years! EDIT: Saw someone mention Dragon Quest, that one would be cool in Hero’s purple!

So...I picked the Zelda Game & Watch up yesterday from GameStop. What was interesting was GameStop was running a buy 2 get 1 free on all new and used games at the same time. We (fiancee and I) went a little bonkers with it and wound up buying 4 games+2 free= 6 in total (there's a point to this). Even though my fiancee and I purchased a bunch of games alongside the new Game & Watch I can't put Zelda down. I have not even installed a single game that I wanted from the group of games we purchased last night....the moral of the story is you cannot beat these timeless classics. All the 4K HDR10 Ray Tracing in the world just doesn't hold up to the true classics. The extras alone make the Zelda Game & Watch a must buy. If you can find it, get it without delay. Hopefully, Nintendo keeps the stock up and the scalpers away.

Got this a few days ago. Rather like this, especially the little light-up Triforce on the back when the screen is lit. Do like the clock acts as a quest from 1:00 - 12:00, and that holding A for 5 seconds brings-up the music in clock mode replacing the second counter beeps, but the battery doesn't let it last very long unplugged. But having the American cart games & Famicom disc games is cool, as both Zelda games are simple enough to play in Japanese. And the cool Zelda artwork that pops-up on screen just before the unit goes into Sleep Mode.

As a links awakening pure-ist i appreciate the inclusion of the black and white LA. altho the color dungeon is nice. I always thought the addition of color detracted from the game exereience. The black and white version made it seem more sophisticated and historic and I always thought the two chrome contrast complimented the theme of reality vs dream, awake vs asleep. Plus the beaks in the Dx version seemed sorta silly to me. Colorizing LA always felt like colorizing 12 Angry men or something.

The screen is a bit small. The box is much larger than the device, giving room for a charger, thickish packaging. But it's great. The battery lasts a long time. Has three games which is fair. Am playing Zelda 2 for the first time. Was out of stock everywhere but Best Buy. At Best Buy they had them behind the counter at check out. So no one could even see them. For that reason they had stacks of them.

The switch Zelda links awakening is a remake not a remaster.. a remaster uses the same assets as the original but enhances the quality, a remake is a total redo of assets

A Link to the Past would have required more buttons, but Link's Awakening DX would have been really nice. If they make a separate device for A Link to the Past I will absolutely buy it. I'm enjoying Mario & Zelda so much that I plan on buying whatever Game & Watch devices they make. Earthbound would be incredible.

i believe it is a year later but i have decided to purchase this game and watch for one reason, I want to be able to play retro games on the go. I do not care that it is supposedly a collectors item all I want is to be on a bus ride and pick up my game and watch so that i may enjoy a normally boring bus ride. Heads up. Links Awakening has an odd glitch in which if you save and quit after getting your sword and don’t get the well Heart Piece it will disappear and be lost forever. Starting a new game will fix it but still it’s kind of odd.

This is gonna sound extremely “um actually”…but its a pet peeve when people call ANY Link the “Hero of Time”. The only hero of time is the Link in Ocarina and Majora’s Mask, and the Hero’s Spirit in Twilight Princess. That’s it.

I still play Zelda 2 it was one of my favorite games as a kid who for some reason never had or played the first game until much later on in my life but was never able to beat it until my teen years. Had this thing pre ordered the moment it was announced

That's not a Dutch language version for Link's Awakening. It's "Deutsch", which means German (in German).

Initially, I was excited to hear that the device is coming back since the E3 presentation. However, I was hesitant to get it because I watched the Japanese trailer and it contained the FDS version and I thought it would not come out in the US. Then a video just popped up on my phone showing me that all versions of Zelda is coming out, including the FDS version. At that point, I had no more doubts and I knew that I am going to get the device right away. The reason why I am so obsessed with the FDS version is because as a musician, it has better music and sound effects which is important to me.

I never understood why Zelda 2 is "Divisive". It's a solid Zelda game that I find enjoyable. If some don't like it because it's a side scroller, well there have been many different playstyles of Zelda games over the years. I'm sure there are some who dislike 3D Zelda games too. Not me. I like them all.

Hopefully they do a Kirby or Metroid one next year. Also, rereleasing the Gameboy version of Link’s Awakening is really cool because I don’t think it’s actually been rereleased. It’s great from a preservationist perspective at least Also I still don’t understand why they didn’t use the actual Zelda Game and Watch as the basis for the Game and Watch game but whatever

I got mine on Wednesday and have been waiting to see what everyone thinks. I also wondered why Link’s Awakening wasn’t the Gameboy Color version. I’m happy it’s there though. I’m not a hardcore Zelda fan but I’m happy to have this and to try out the first two Zelda games

Bought mine today, and I love it. It looks great next to my Super Mario Bros Game & Watch that was released last year. I would have loved to seen The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past on this because it's the game that got me hooked on Zelda. Maybe one day we'll get Game & Watch versions of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario World, Metroid, & Donkey Kong.

I received mine and gave LoZ a play. It is nice enough as a collector's item. Seems a bit underwhelming this is the only way Nintendo chose to mark 35 years when compared to Mario.

True but I believe this year the pandemic put a wrench in their plans. We'll get more stuff next year like the rumored Wind Waker/Twilight Princess HD ports and of course Breath of the Wild 2 and maybe a 2D Zelda remake.

For those mentioning Skyward Sword HD. Eiji Aonuma never linked it to the anniversary. He only referenced this Game & Watch to it so I am not entirely sure if SS HD qualifies for being part of 35th anniversary. I have a feeling SS HD is needed for BOTW after seeing the latest trailer and it just happened to drop on 35th anniversary rather than purposefully releasing on that year.

The only other Game & Watch I have is the classic Parachute. I am not sure if I'll buy the Super Mario Bros, maybe one day, but I definitely just ordered the The Legend of Zelda version. I own the original NES LEZ 1 game cartridge, as well as Link's Awakening DX, but I still bought it because I just love the series! Can't wait!

I love this new Game & Watch line, and hope it continues. It would make the most sense for a Donkey Kong edition, since he's the only other franchise character to have appeared on the original series. Punch Out would be a great choice too though!

I was in my local GameStop this past Friday to get a charger cable for my Nintendo Switch. Could not find said charger cable for said Switch but found The Legend of Zelda Game U& Watch, so I lucked out on finding the Legend of Zelda Game & Watch. I still need to find the Super Mario Bros. version of the Game & Watch. Having fun playing the Legend of Zelda Game & Watch. Aso need a carry case to put both Game & Watch systems in to carry around with me.

The reason why they didn’t include Link to the Past is because that is an Game Boy Advance & SNES game and hence would require 4 buttons (GBA) or 6 buttons (SNES) instead of just 2
